Chapter 118
The night wind picked up.
Jiang Zhou stepped into his car and sped off from Qingbei University’s gates.
Back in Shangjing, he stood outside the girls’ dorm of the Finance College, deep in thought.
He still had two gifts left — one for Huang Qi, one for Feng Siruo.
But the problem was… the two girls lived right next door to each other.
Even though things with Huang Qi were totally platonic and the gift was just a friendly gesture, he knew if Feng Siruo saw it… that silly girl would definitely get jealous.
Last time he and Huang Qi just exchanged a few jabs in class, and Feng Siruo played mute for three days straight.
And there was also Ding Yue, that troublemaker always fanning the flames.
After thinking it through, Jiang Zhou decided that there was no gift for Huang Qi tonight.
He’d wait for the upcoming trip and find a better opportunity to give it — less drama, fewer rumors.
So he opened his contacts and dialed Feng Siruo’s number.
“Are you asleep?”
“Nope.”
“Come downstairs, I’m outside your dorm.”
Not long after, a little face popped up at the window.
She spotted him and waved eagerly.
Moments later, the sound of little leather shoes clacked through the stairwell.
In under a minute, she had run down.
“Here,” she said, pulling a milk candy from her pocket and handing it to him.
Jiang Zhou smiled and raised the shopping bag. “Here. Wear it tomorrow for the trip.”
“Huh? What is it?”
“It’s a gift for you.”
Feng Siruo leaned in curiously to take a peek, only to get a flick to the forehead.
She wrinkled her nose, looking pitiful.
Jiang Zhou chuckled. “Check it in your room later, and don’t tell anyone.”
“Okay…”
“Wanna guess what it is? If you get it right, there’s a prize.”
Feng Sihuo thought for a moment. “A tail?”
Jiang Zhou choked a little.
A tail??
Of course, she meant one of those cosplay cat tails.
Last time they went to the pedestrian market, they had bought cat-ear headbands and little bells, but the lack of a tail had always bugged Jiang Zhou.
He had fantasized about dressing her up as a cute little kitty, complete with a student uniform.
Apparently… she remembered that.
“Not a tail. Guess again.”
“No clue.” She shook her head.
Jiang Zhou handed her the bag and took the candy. “Then go back and find out yourself.”
“Tomorrow…”
“Hmm?”
Feng Siruo blushed. “Can we eat breakfast together?”
Jiang Zhou’s smile deepened. “Sure. I’ll wait for you at the second cafeteria. If you’re late, I’ll spank you.”
“Then see you tomorrow~” She waved goodbye, shopping bags in hand, and Jiang Zhou waved back before striding into the night.
Just then, a girl stood silently beneath the dorm building.
Wearing black-and-white striped pajamas, she had seen everything that had just happened.
Her brows furrowed slightly.
“Feng!”
Feng Siruo turned around.
It was Qu Xiaoya, the class monitor from Class 3 of Finance.
She had come downstairs to fetch water but had coincidentally witnessed the scene.
Qu Xiaoya walked up and gave her a look-over. “That was Jiang Zhou, wasn’t it? He came to see you again?”
Feng Siruo nodded, nervous.
She didn’t know Qu Xiaoya well. Truthfully, she didn’t know anyone that well. She wasn’t the type to make friends easily.
“Some people in class have been gossiping… saying you two are together. Is it true?”
“No…” Feng Siruo shook her head, unsure what to say.
“What’s in the bags? Gifts from him?”
“I… I’m not telling you!” she stammered, quickly hiding the shopping bags behind her back.
Jiang Zhou had said she couldn’t tell anyone.
Qu Xiaoya scoffed. “Not even a peek? So stingy.”
“No… I can’t…” Feng Siruo lowered her head, dying to bolt back upstairs but too timid to make a move.
“Come on, just let me see. I’m not gonna take it.”
“No…”
“Just one look. I wanna know what Jiang Zhou gave you.”
“He told me not to show anyone…”
Qu Xiaoya fell silent for a second… then reached out to grab it.
At that moment, another girl came downstairs.
She stood a few steps away, arms crossed, eyes cold and cutting.
If Feng Siruo saw that gaze, she’d probably panic on the spot.
Qu Xiaoya’s hand paused.
She quickly smiled. “Huang Qi? What are you doing down here?”
“I’m the kind of person who likes observing people from the window,” Huang Qi replied coolly.
“Oh. I was just chatting with Feng. You go ahead and head back.”
“Chatting, my ass,” Huang Qi said bluntly. “She doesn’t want to show you, and you’re still forcing her?”
“You…” Qu Xiaoya was taken aback by her directness, eyes widening.
Huang Qi put her arm around Feng Siruo. “Qu Xiaoya, I’ve had enough of you. You’re always so pushy.”
“I just wanted a look. What’s the big deal? What’s so secret about it?”
“Oh, now you’re playing the victim? She’s not showing you. Deal with it. If you want a gift, go ask Jiang Zhou yourself.”
“Hah. Why should I ask him?”
Huang Qi narrowed her eyes. “You like Jiang Zhou. You slipped him that paper note but didn’t even have the guts to follow up. You think I don’t know?”
Qu Xiaoya didn’t deny it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. But hey, Jiang Zhou didn’t give you a gift either, right? What are you so smug about?”
“I’ll go yell at him tomorrow for not giving me one. Wanna come with me?”
“You… you’re so full of it. Fine! Let’s go together!”
Huang Qi snorted, then looked at Feng Siruo. “Feng, let’s go. Back to the dorm.”
“Okay.”
The two girls walked off hand-in-hand into the hallway.
Feng Siruo actually knew Huang Qi fairly well. They had met at a school party, and she even got jealous over Jiang Zhou’s closeness with her.
“Don’t be alone with her again,” Huang Qi whispered. “She’s petty.”
Feng Siruo nodded. “Thank you…”
Huang Qi cleared her throat. “But, Feng… can you break up with Jiang Zhou?”
“Eh?”
“With a face like yours, he’s not good enough for you. Date me instead!”
Feng Siruo jumped in shock.
She thought Huang Qi was going to compete with her for Jiang Zhou…
But she wanted HER instead?!
At the backstage of the school party, Huang Qi had joked like this before, but Feng still didn’t understand…
How do girls even date girls?!
“Just kidding! Go check your gift already,” Huang Qi teased.
Feng Siruo nodded, then hesitated. Before Huang Qi could leave, she handed her a small bag.
Huang Qi blinked. “What’s this?”
“You… you didn’t get a gift, so I’m giving you one of mine…”
If Jiang Zhou had been there, he would’ve laughed until he cried.
You silly girl!
Just because it’s the smallest doesn’t mean it’s cheap!
That bag contained a pair of Cartier couple watches worth 80,000 yuan!
Still, Huang Qi hugged her and gave her a playful shake.
“No wonder Jiang Zhou likes you so much.
“But don’t worry, I’ll get mine from him tomorrow!”
