572: Chapter 370: The Unrestrained Green Leaf Elves 572: Chapter 370: The Unrestrained Green Leaf Elves William accepted the gift with a very gentle demeanor and smiled, inviting them to sit down for tea.
The members of the Radiant Knights Order didn’t say much, leaving the opportunity to speak to the elves.
Hill understood their silence well.
What could they say to William?
How terribly had the Radiant Knights Order suffered for not heeding William’s warning?
However, with the nature of Radiant Knights, they were also unable to happily engage in small talk with the king of the Otherworld in front of them.
For these two knights, and the others who were eagerly waiting in the Greenleaf Forest, this was nothing short of a nightmare.
While they had fought to the death to save their own world, they never imagined that their own backyard would be set ablaze.
Moreover, they had been warned beforehand that someone was going to start a fire.
“Watch out!” they were told.
But not only did they fail to pay attention, some fool from their own home had to go and ask, “I heard you’re planning to torch the camp?
Ha-ha, surely not, right?”
What other outcome could there be?
They were straightforwardly done in by their stupidity!
But for these knights, no matter how unworthy their deaths, they were students and juniors whom they had painstakingly trained.
Even if they avenged their fallen comrades, they could not bring themselves to smile.
Both the elves and William understood the knights’ feelings, and so, although it was a bit impolite, everyone tacitly skipped over the two knights when talking.
Sometimes, the truest form of kindness is to appropriately overlook, rather than to rigidly adhere to so-called etiquette.
The two elves greatly approved of William’s behavior, speaking in much more amiable and gentle tones.
The longbowman Hartfield opened the conversation with pleasure.
He was very interested in the other world.
Hearing them say they came from the Supreme Forest as cosmic wanderers, Hill couldn’t help but be touched.
These were actually Wood Elves, right?
Brown skin, green eyes.
Just that in this world, they had mutated slightly, their hair also turning green, probably in relation to their Greenleaf Forest.
Elven subspecies really are numerous; each world breeds its unique races.
So when did they come to this world?
Hartfield didn’t conceal anything.
With a little probing from William, he answered straightforwardly.
The elves discovered this world before even the devils came!
But the number of Green Leaf Elves was small, with just over two hundred when they first arrived, a tribe in the midst of migration.
Hill knew that Wood Elves actually disliked conflict, so when the Supreme Forest became chaotic due to the disputes among the major Elven Gods, indeed many Wood Elves decided to migrate.
What was unexpected, however, was that such migrations were not limited to within the same universe.
It seems that while Forest Relics were not possessed by every tribe, they were also not uncommon.
Hill quietly listened as the longbowman recounted the history of the Green Leaf Elves.
The Greenleaf Forest was located in the great plains of Gerns.
The scenery was exceptionally beautiful, much like the former territories of the Supreme Forest.
When the Green Leaf Elves first saw that place amid the starry sea, they fell in love with the environment and decided to make that place their new home.
And then humans were born.
The elves watched humans slowly multiply and were happy to see the world flourishing.
Unexpectedly, this world gave birth to a treasure that attracted the Demon Lord, dramatically changing the situation.
Elves, who normally did not deal much with the outside, initially felt nothing amiss, but by the time they realized something was wrong, devils had nearly taken over the entire world.
They didn’t even know when the devils had appeared, how they controlled the World Will, or why they had become the deities of this world.
The Green Leaf Elves were almost bewildered, clueless about what to do.
They were willing to lay down their lives to protect this world, but the disparity in strength was too great; even if the entire tribe rushed forward, only annihilation awaited them.
If it wasn’t for the protection of the Greenleaf Forest, the devils would not have spared these elves either.
Hartfield’s laughter contained helplessness; their strongest King of the Forest was not as powerful as the deceptive Miliel, who had fooled them for so long.
They were simply a small tribe.
They had thought the final outcome would be to fight the devils to the death and then let the forest carry all the elves’ souls away into the cosmos to drift.
The reason their king never left the forest was that he had already fused himself with the Forest Relic, unable to leave the artifact for life.
They had prepared for the worst.
The only thing they could do was to train hard every day and pray to Coron.
During that period, they utterly distrusted humans, thinking that most of humanity had lost their human nature for the sake of devilish benefits; the elves had no desire to deal with humans at all.
It wasn’t until later that Miliel arrived.
With his singing, he awakened many people and found quite a few humans who still retained their human nature to form a resistance.
The elves pondered for a long time and, though they feared it might be a devil’s ploy, they couldn’t see any issues and eventually reserved a campsite for them within the Greenleaf Forest.
However, the Greenleaf Forest was not vast, merely a home that could shelter a few hundred elves, so only the legendary high-ranks or even demigod level humans, whom the devils most desired to kill, could stay there.
Their tone carried a hint of regret as if they thought that if the forest had been large enough, perhaps the tragedy of the Radiant Knights Order wouldn’t have occurred.
Hill, sitting in his own place, couldn’t help but look over a few times, not just at the archer, but also at the priest who seemed to feel the same!
Is this what they call chaotic good alignment?
Well, it’s actually lucky that Greenleaf Forest isn’t any larger!
Otherwise, it’d really be a complete mess.
But even if they had agreed, such a situation would not have occurred.
Hill quickly thought of the God of Singing, who, while also of the kind alignment, clearly understood that not all humans can be trusted and knew to weigh the pros and cons, so they would not make such a foolish decision.
William seemed to have thought of the same thing, but it appeared he had other feelings: “The divide among elves is indeed quite vast!”
Hill almost laughed out loud, but if these were the elves of Teraxil, as long as the devils didn’t lay hands on them, they would absolutely watch humans be wiped out without lifting a finger.
“Aren’t the elves of Teraxil also followers of our lord?
I remember your arrival in this world was our lord’s decision, wasn’t it?
” The Elf Priest Chiara asked sensitively, “It’s pretty normal for us to look different, different forests, naturally different appearances.
But different in character too?
Could it be the Wild Elves?
Although a bit indifferent, this nature system human should be able to communicate with them.
The other kinds, especially the Sun and Moon Elves, although a bit too proud, should all be on Eternity Island, nowhere near Ferun.
However, if it’s the Wild Elves, they seldom devoutly worship the Elven Pantheon, even for our lord, it would be hard to find many followers among them, right?
Or could it be the Sea Elf?”
William coughed lightly: “Maybe those from Teraxil you speak of are what you call Sun Elves?”
Chiara blinked her eyes, surprised: “Ah?
Could it be that some deity’s illegitimate child was banished from the Supreme Forest?”
Hill utterly lost control and glanced at the audacious priest.
He could sense that all the guards in the great hall had subtly shifted their stance, focusing their attention on the female priest.
The female priest smiled reassuringly at the stunned William: “Although those divine children can’t stay in the Supreme Forest, they have a lot of good stuff with them.
And even if the Sun Elves are proud, they can only follow the divine children who can no longer go back, so they will lower their attitudes somewhat.
Even divine children, if they do wrong, our lord won’t interfere much and will make them follow the rules of the Teraxil World.”
The female priest confidently said, “Don’t worry, just interact with them normally.
The Sun Elves dislike humans even more and couldn’t possibly cooperate with them like we do.
But they will value the world they live in, always of the kind alignment after all!”
William looked at the two Wood Elves who had full confidence in their Main God, pondering for a long time, yet couldn’t set aside his conscience.
He coughed softly: “That one did not originally live in the Supreme Forest, he’s not just an ordinary divine child but a deity himself, known as the Elven God King, from Alberia.”
Hill guessed he was worried that this priest, upon returning to Greenleaf Forest and praying to Coron, might repeat these words.
Teraxil was still too weak and did not wish to provoke such a powerful deity.
“How could that be?” Chiara’s eyes widened in shock as she said, “Our lord doesn’t have too many children born to the Goddess Queen!
Alberia couldn’t possibly be too small for him.
The Goddess of Life wouldn’t care, she’s not Rose!”
William choked severely, unable to utter a word, before breaking into violent coughs.
“Chiara!” Hartfield called out to his companion, “Even if our lord doesn’t care about these matters, you shouldn’t casually discuss them in public!
And remember, humans are not accustomed to talking about the private affairs of their own main gods.”
“Alright!” Chiara said earnestly, “Sorry, I shouldn’t have spoken of these issues with you.”
Though she verbalized her apology, the female priest’s face was brimming with the intent to gossip when she got home.
Hill lowered his head, trying not to let his expression show, struggling to maintain composure.
A high-ranked priest like Chiara seemed to have the privilege of direct communication with Coron’s Divine Kingdom.
Was she intending to exploit the Father of Elves’ granted privilege to clergy and gossip about her own Main God with priests from other worlds?
The world of elves was indeed a bit frightening, lucky for him that not a single drop of Elf Blood remained in his veins.
William managed to conjure a polite smile: “That one probably left the Elven Divine Realm simply because he always caused trouble, with no other reason involved.”
Chiara returned his polite smile with one clearly suggesting ‘I don’t believe you, but we’ll see after I ask back home’.
Even those two knights who had always been lost in their own world were shocked by their Elven counterpart’s freedom, realizing the elves were freer and more romantic by nature than they had ever imagined.
