Chapter 274: Chapter 280: At the Autograph Session (3)

"Yes, indeed." Zuri Ginger propped her hand on the table and stood up from her chair, curling her lips into a smile, "You know about it. I’m hosting a book signing event today. With so many readers, I obviously have to dress up nicely, to present my best image. Since you’re here, help me decide, which outfit looks better."

"..." Mia Ginger couldn’t help but lower her head and smile.

"What? Unwilling to help?"

"Why would I be?" Mia Ginger replied, "Happy to serve."

The two of them entered the walk-in closet.

Zuri Ginger opened the wardrobe, took out three dresses for autumn, and held them up against herself one by one.

She asked Mia Ginger, "Which one looks good?"

"The second one."

"This one?" Zuri Ginger compared the second color-blocking dress against herself and said with frustration, "Actually, I think all three look pretty nice."

Mia Ginger held her patience and said nothing.

"Do you know who I’m doing the book signing with today?" Zuri Ginger suddenly said, "That guy Wine, who writes martial arts novels—Bob Ginger really admires him. He’s been clamoring to go with me."

"Oh, he already mentioned it."

"The publishing market hasn’t been great these past few years, especially since Wine has been focusing solely on martial arts. It’s kind of a miracle. Bob Ginger likes him, and I’m really happy to help him meet Wine. Maybe he can even get a picture together; he’d be over the moon."

"I hope so," Mia Ginger said with a faint tone.

Zuri Ginger looked at her and suddenly sneered, "What, does it not sit well with you?"

"What?"

"It’s such a small effort for me to help Bob Ginger meet his idol, but what about you?" Zuri Ginger laughed nonchalantly, "You’re still proud of being just a class monitor. Don’t you think there’s a huge gap between us?"

"That’s how you see it?" Mia Ginger countered.

"What can being a class monitor at school even do?" In her own room, Zuri Ginger made no effort to disguise her words, speaking without restraint, "The gap between you and me isn’t going to close in a day or two. You’re just learning to walk; I’ve already started running smoothly. Just like now, novel publishing, signings, filming adaptations, and directors inviting me into showbiz—who knows, I might turn into a star overnight, and you couldn’t even be jealous if you tried. It’s fate."

"Hmm, you actually make some sense," Mia Ginger nodded.

"Alright then, let’s go with the one you picked." Zuri Ginger began to leisurely change clothes in front of her.

It was unlike her usual reserved demeanor.

She seemed to treat Mia Ginger as if she were air.

"By the way, do you know how everyone in the circle evaluates me?"

"I’m all ears."

Mia Ginger looked at her with extreme patience.

"Angel face, devil figure, the number one beauty in romance novels," Zuri Ginger giggled, "So you see, being pretty isn’t anything special, having ability isn’t anything special, but being both pretty and capable is rare. There are plenty like you in college, but there are few like me in the entire Cloud Capital."

"Why do I feel like you’ve changed?" Mia Ginger suddenly said.

Zuri Ginger looked up at her.

"You’ve grown a thicker skin." Mia Ginger looked her up and down, curling her lips, "And your standards seem to have gotten freer."

Mia Ginger leaned in slightly, her breath fragrant, "Life’s been pretty cushy lately, hasn’t it?"

"You!" Zuri Ginger’s expression changed suddenly.

Mia Ginger smiled and looked at her.

"Heh." Zuri Ginger glared at her, then suddenly laughed, "No other choice, too many men chasing after me lately."
