Chapter 331: Chapter 329 Don’t Worry [4 Updates]
Listening to Noah Owen’s invitation, Lydia Jones immediately got up and followed him. She felt awkward sitting here, so she might as well leave with Noah Owen.
Charlotte Owen watched Lydia getting lured away and immediately turned around to ask, "Little Rain, why are you leaving? You haven’t finished discussing your matters."
"Aunt Charlotte, I have other things to do, so I’m leaving first." Lydia knew she had no chance to salvage the situation, so she naturally decided to leave.
In the elevator, Noah Owen returned to his usual aloof self, casually glanced at Lydia and said indifferently, "Lydia, I advise you to go back to Los Angeles. Don’t follow my mom around. Liam Spencer will never listen to her."
Lydia listened to Noah’s advice, took a deep breath, smiled, and said, "I can see that."
Noah looked at the girl’s smile, raised the corner of his lips, and also smiled, saying, "Looks like you have already made plans."
"Yes!"
After this little drama, Lydia felt it was meaningless. Once she returned to her apartment, she immediately started packing her things, preparing to return to Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, in Liam Spencer’s office, Charlotte Owen saw her little pawns had all fled, so she naturally found an excuse to leave as well.
Nevertheless, seeing Maya Spencer’s triumphant demeanor, she was still boiling inside, pondering how to separate the two of them. However, she hadn’t expected her pawn to start backing off.
On her way back, when she received a message from Lydia saying that her flight to Los Angeles was tonight, she felt deflated. She thought to herself, how could Lydia not bear even this little pressure? Whatever! She’ll find someone else, she just doesn’t believe anyone can shake Maya’s position.
So after hanging up Lydia’s phone, she hurriedly dialed another number and said with a welcoming smile, "Mrs. Lopez, I remember you mentioned last time that your niece is quite excellent, just returned from studying abroad. I wonder if she has time to meet up?"
On the other end, Mrs. Lopez listened to Charlotte’s invitation, her eyebrows danced with joy. She had mentioned her niece a few times in front of Charlotte, all in hopes of climbing up the social ladder of Liam Spencer, but Charlotte had completely ignored her.
This time, Charlotte took the initiative to bring it up, so she was naturally pleased and immediately agreed.
Next, Charlotte Owen made several similar calls. In just half an hour, she had prepared more than 20 blind dates for Liam Spencer, strategically placing them in his company and at every upcoming gathering he would attend.
She didn’t believe that casting such a wide net wouldn’t catch Liam, nor did she believe her rapid-fire approach wouldn’t block Maya Spencer, that enchantress.
Afterwards, she felt she hadn’t arranged enough people, so she found a batch of small celebrities to coincidentally encounter Liam in various places, continuously creating scandals, not believing that Maya could remain calm without causing a stir.
Thinking of this, Charlotte Owen felt at ease. If she could eliminate Maya Spencer, she could live a few hundred years longer.
As long as she remembered Maya’s indifferent, peculiar demeanor, lifeless appearance, she felt irritated, even if it was just fantasizing about her downfall, she felt remarkably satisfied.
Charlotte Owen had long prepared to fight to the end, determined to separate the two.
Meanwhile, in Liam Spencer’s office, as Liam reviewed the project proposal, whenever he thought of Maya’s retort to Charlotte, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
However, Maya Spencer was sitting beside him, calmly reading, as if she had never experienced that war just now.
Just as Liam Spencer was enamored watching her, his phone suddenly rang. It was a call from grandpa himself.
He stared at the screen for two seconds before answering, asking, "Grandpa, what’s up?"
On the other end, Old Master Spencer listened to Liam’s voice, sighed deeply, and said, "Next Thursday is the Mid-Autumn Festival, the family hasn’t had a gathering in a long time. Bring Maya back home. This might be the last time everyone gathers; some people may not be able to sit at the same table in the future."
A few days ago, Liam Spencer had a falling out with the Spencer Family and hadn’t returned home, so Old Master Spencer went to such lengths to convince him to return.
The "some people" he referred to were actually Lillian Morris. Yesterday, Jane Spencer and Lillian Morris already got divorced, so this Mid-Autumn reunion is akin to a breakup meal.
On this end, Liam listened to grandpa’s helpless words and calmly said, "Hm! At the company’s new resort, several families will be there."
"Alright, make sure you bring Maya." Old Master Spencer repeatedly reminded him to bring Maya along.
"Hm!" Liam agreed before hanging up the phone.
After the call ended, Maya was still focused on her book, seeming unperturbed by the call. He took a deep breath, looked straight at her, and said, "Maya, come over here."
On the sofa, Maya leisurely crossed her legs, completely undisturbed.
The man watched her quietly, his left hand resting on the desk, fingertips lightly pressed against his lips, staring at her for quite a while without seeing any reaction.
A moment later, he stood up slowly, and walked towards the sofa unhurriedly, standing in front of her for a while, yet Maya still hadn’t noticed him.
Feeling irritated, Liam thought to himself, am I that transparent? So he reached out his right hand to take her book, only then did Maya furrow her brow and look up at him.
Watching the girl’s confused expression, Liam casually sat next to her, stretched out his arms resting on the back of the sofa, turned his head and said seriously, "Grandpa just called, Mid-Autumn Festival gathering, at the company’s new resort."
Liam’s voice was low and pleasant; it was the only thing Maya liked about him, but she wouldn’t be swayed just because his voice was nice. She snatched the book back from him, casually saying, "It’s a Spencer Family gathering, I don’t want to join the fun."
"Grandpa specifically named you to come along." He hadn’t planned to give her an escape route.
"I have plans for Mid-Autumn Festival." Maya awkwardly lied, actually fearing to face Jane Spencer, who might reveal her feelings for Lillian Morris in public.
Understanding her concern, Liam looked into her eyes seriously and said, "I’m there, no need to worry."
In fact, Liam was quite curious to see Maya and Lillian meet and was keen to see how Maya would react to the newly divorced Lillian. Did she still expect anything of him, and how would Lillian plan to compete with Liam?
Watching the man’s exceedingly serious face, Maya took a deep breath, nodded at him, and compromised.
Overall, Liam’s decisions always came with a way to make her compromise, and since that was the case, she knew better than to go against it and avoided forcing him to resort to extraordinary means.
He saw her compromise and gave her a slight smile, saying, "I’ll get back to work; continue reading."
Maya watched the figure walking back to the desk, thinking gloomily that the holiday couldn’t be enjoyed properly.
