Chapter 1447: Chapter 1445: Trip to the Black Forest
“Nicholas, adding one more person to our team won’t be an issue, right? This boy Kite seems pretty decent.”
Of all the Elements, what intrigued Green the most were Pope and Kite… In Green’s eyes, bringing in either one of them would add a layer of “fun” to their Fate journey.
However, in Han Dong’s view, such “fun” translated to instability.
Having to act as Green’s Fate Guide was already troublesome enough… And now, they were adding into the team a chaotic entity even Han Dong couldn’t fully comprehend.
“…Fine.
But the matter of the Fate journey will have to wait for a while.
We’ve all just been through the high-intensity London Game, and have received hugely valuable rewards… I suggest we first process the combat experience and rewards we gained this time before considering anything related to Fate.”
Green + Kite
Han Dong had even come up with a new name for their squad—”Suicide Squad.”
More importantly, the next Fate event they’d face would involve a completely new system post-[Opening the Gate]… What’s more, Han Dong planned to use the “Treasure Map” to ramp up the event’s difficulty to the maximum.
Hence, thorough preparation was absolutely necessary.
At the very least, they needed to wait until Han Dong’s “brain” had been upgraded before tackling the Fate event.
Green tapped the holes on his brain. “Hmm… sounds doable.
It’s rare for them to give me early access to the ‘Abyss Party.’
Once the party’s over, I’ll have fully evolved, and then I can test out my new form in the Fate Space.
So, it’s decided! After I return from the Abyss Party, we’ll head straight to the human stronghold to rendezvous with Nicholas… The human stronghold should be quite interesting.”
“Fine.”
Hop quickly nodded in agreement. During his time in London City, he had formed a deep friendship with some humans and even wanted to find that knight who manipulated puppets for another bout.
Indeed, everyone needed to head back to their respective ‘nests’ to report on the outcome of the London Game.
Green continued speaking:
“Since Uncle Naya has already arranged to meet you at the [Heart of Mad Chaos], I don’t need to guide you there personally… So, that’s it for now. I’m out!”
“Wait! We haven’t talked about the “Book of Dead Spirit” yet.”
“Oh~ right! There’s that too.”
As Green started pondering where to begin explaining,
Sally suddenly stepped between the two of them. “Green, if you have things to take care of, you should head off first… The full details of the ‘Book of Dead Spirit’ can’t be summarized in just a few words. Since I’m not in a rush to return to the Black Forest, how about I explain it instead?”
“That’ll do then.”
As always, Green nonchalantly picked a random “hole” on Han Dong’s body and dove into it, using his Abyss Characteristics to return directly to the Cosmic Chaos Nexus.
Green had just left.
Sally’s entire aura underwent a 360° transformation. Turning into the ‘big sister’ type, she fiercely glared at Hop and Kite, signaling them to stop getting in the way and leave immediately.
Hop was straightforward about it, crouching slightly before leaping powerfully into the air. His sheer strength propelled his body skyward, and soon he vanished from sight.
Kite, on the other hand, maintained a ‘naïve’ expression as he attempted to remove the Ghoul Skin and return it to Han Dong.
“Kite, you keep this coat… If our subsequent meeting is arranged to be in the Holy City, it’d be best if you use it to stabilize your body.
The human cities maintain strict control over contamination levels. Be sure to contact me beforehand if you plan to come!”
“Got it, thank you, Mr. Nicholas.”
Melting into a puddle of sludge, Kite disappeared into the ground.
With that, only Sally and Han Dong remained—exactly the situation Sally had been hoping for.
Her two black goat’s hooves were pressed tightly together, gently rubbing up and down, as if she had something rather ’embarrassing’ she wanted to express.
“Nicholas, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you.
The Human Expeditionary Army will have to wait until that Captain has fully acclimated to his kingship before setting out, right? From my experience, this process will take at least 2–3 days. Given his human nature, it might even take longer.
Since there’s nothing pressing to do… How about accompanying me on a trip to the Black Forest?”
“The Black Forest? The gathering place of the Black Goat Progeny… which isn’t on Earth, right?”
As the origin site of the Black Goat Progeny, Han Dong was indeed quite curious about it.
However, with the Big Expedition successfully concluded, his first priority was to return with the main force to the Holy City and report the joyous outcome to his mentor and Captain Hugo.
“It’s quite far, indeed. But our kin have already established a [Transmission Nexus] on Earth, making round trips very convenient… Besides, the Black Forest is also a Forbidden Land. Most demons don’t even qualify to go there.”
“Would it be a problem for me to go?”
“You’re currently a ‘Grey Emissary,’ and with my permission and accompaniment, you can venture into any region of the Black Forest.
Even [Mother] will undoubtedly find you fascinating.”
Sally used a very archaic and peculiar form of speech to pronounce the word ‘Mother.’ To Han Dong, this [Mother] was undoubtedly the Old King associated with Sally—the true Black Goat in every sense.
However, one thing had always puzzled Han Dong.
During the London Game, several Old Kings had revealed themselves… Yet he had never encountered the Black Goat’s Old King.
Furthermore, from their very first meeting, Sally had been seeking some kind of shelter.
This made Han Dong wonder if there had been some issue with the Black Forest behind Sally.
“Let’s tentatively set it for two days, then. After all, I need to return with the main force… Since there’s a Transmission Nexus connecting the Black Forest and Earth, I can always visit again when I have free time.”
“Two days… that works too~ Nicholas, come on, let’s go.”
Seeing the tight schedule, Sally grabbed Han Dong’s hand and immediately headed toward the Transmission Nexus.
They didn’t even bother to meet up with Aunt Ingrid’s flock, choosing instead to return to the Black Forest ahead of time.
The [Transmission Nexus] was located in Goatswood Village within England’s Severn Valley.
The devout believers residing here had already used the “Moon Lens” atop a nearby hill to partially activate the Transmission Nexus through some mysterious ritual.
Under the moonlight, the mirror faintly reflected a black region smeared with viscous slime, teeming with shadowy figures of black-skinned women clustered together. They exchanged bodily ‘information’ incessantly or waved at the humans on the other side of the mirror.
As the ritual fully activated,
a beam of moonlight descended vertically, shining through the mirror and enveloping both Han Dong and Sally… Whoosh!
In the blink of an eye,
the solid ground beneath their feet transformed into a texture akin to a muddy swamp.
A substance in the air was potent enough to overwhelm ordinary people instantly, consuming their thoughts with a certain desire and leaving them forever trapped in Lust and Sin.
However, this aura had little effect on Han Dong, who didn’t even glance at Sally beside him. Instead, his eyes were fixed on the ‘majestic scene’ before him.
“So this is the Black Forest? Why does it feel like we’re inside some kind of organism?”
