Chapter 81 Strange

The taxi took Rou Yi and the fatty to a remote training base where someone was waiting to take over from the white driver. An instructor wearing a Blackwater company uniform spoke with the driver, who then left.

The Blackwater instructor gestured for Rou Yi and the fatty to follow him and quickly headed off in one direction, giving them no chance to think. He walked fast, and Rou Yi had to adjust her stride and pace several times to keep up.

As he walked, the instructor said to them, "Wait until the other team members have boarded, then you can board. Don't talk once you're on board. Just find a corner to sit in."

With that, the instructor tossed them each a black mask, indicating they should put them on, then handed them each a document. He said to the fatty, "You're a Chinese-American, named Peter Lee. This is your ID."

Then he said to Rou Yi, "You're a Mexican-American, named Anna Sheehan. This is your ID."

Before long, Rou Yi and the fatty, led by the instructor, arrived at a modified civilian transport plane. The instructor led them onto the plane. Inside the cabin was an armored infantry vehicle, and a dozen or so fully armed people wearing black masks, just like Rou Yi and the fatty, were sitting on either side of the vehicle.

Rou Yi and the fatty sat in a corner. The others were busy with their own things; some were even texting their girlfriends and didn't pay much attention to them.

The pilot announced over the intercom that the plane was about to take off and reminded them to fasten their seatbelts.

A few minutes later, after a period of turbulence, the plane took off smoothly. Rou Yi and the fatty embarked on an unknown journey with trepidation.

...

I woke up to a glare, feeling like I was lying on an operating table. All I could see were glaring lights and doctors wearing masks. Before long, I fainted again.

The second time I woke up, I was sitting in a room with one-way glass. There was only a table and two chairs in the room. I was sitting on one side of the table, and a middle-aged foreign man in a white coat was sitting across from me. I guessed he was a doctor.

The man in the white coat waved a pen in front of my eyes, seemingly to determine if I was conscious.

"Can you understand me?" the man in the white coat asked first.

I nodded.

The man in the white coat seemed surprised. He looked anxiously at the one-way glass on the wall, as if waiting for further instructions.

During this time, I began to recall the scenes before my memory fragmented.

I remembered drifting in an ocean for a long time, then being rescued by a fishing boat, and then some bad things happening on the fishing boat—finally, I was rescued.

Yes, I remembered, the last person I saw was Rou Yi.

Rou Yi got me out of the police's hands and then took me to a place with strict security, telling me that she was going to find the fatty and Han Yu and figure out a solution together. After that, I didn't remember anything.

Could it be that I had amnesia?

At that moment, an old man pushed the door open and entered. He wasn't wearing a white coat like the others, but a casual suit.

As soon as the man in the white coat saw the old man, he immediately stood up to offer him a seat. The old man sat down naturally, exuding a powerful aura.

The old man stared at me, making me feel uncomfortable.

He said, "Do you know who you are?"

Of course I knew, but why should I be open with a stranger? I ignored him.

Seeing that I was very wary of him, the old man changed his approach, a flattering smile appearing on his face. "Haha, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Robert Strange. You can call me Mr. Strange."

Mr. Strange took the initiative to close the distance and show his goodwill. I stopped looking so stern and said to him, "Zhao Chenguang."

Strange was quite surprised and continued to ask, "Age?"

"Twenty-four."

I didn't want to be led by this old man any longer, so I asked, "Where's Rou Yi?"

Strange was surprised to hear my question. "You remember Rou Yi?"

"Of course. Where is she?"

Strange thought for a moment and said, "Rou Yi isn't here right now. She entrusted me to take care of you."

"Oh?"

Something was strange about this. All the signs indicated that the old man named Strange was not trustworthy. At least, I couldn't trust him until I saw Rou Yi.

Strange smiled ingratiatingly and said to me, "Before that, I'd like to ask you to tell me what you saw in the Underwater Gate, or rather, in that meteorite?"

I was shocked. Although I had a memory of the Underwater Gate, I had never mentioned it to anyone, including Rou Yi.

"The Underwater Gate?" I asked.

Then, with me looking puzzled, Strange told me a story about an ocean adventure involving me, Rou Yi, the fatty, Han Yu, a woman named Jennifer, and a man named Li Decha.

I really had no memory of this story. It was as if Strange was telling me a story that "happened in the future." The story sounded so vivid, as if it had really happened.

If the old man Strange wasn't lying to me, then I was sure I had amnesia.

The old man waved at the one-way glass, signaling the person on the other side to come in. Then, someone pushed open the door and walked in—a foreigner.

Strange pointed at him, looked at me, and asked, "Do you recognize him?"

I looked at the strange foreign man, shook my head, and said that I really didn't recognize him.

The strange man seemed a little anxious when he saw my reaction. "It's me, Young Master. I'm Richard Curtis, Chinese name Li Decha. Don't you remember?"

He actually knew my nickname was "Young Master." Usually, only Rou Yi, the fatty, and Han Yu knew that nickname. Who was he?

I shook my head again, thinking that I really hadn't seen him before.

Li Decha then said a few things about memories that I had never mentioned to anyone, seemingly trying to awaken my memory, but it was no use. I didn't remember anything. His actions only made me more alert.

"Who are you people?" I stood up excitedly and shouted, "Where's Rou Yi? What have you done to her?"

The man in the white coat tried to push me back into my seat, but Strange stopped him with a wave of his hand.

Strange tapped the table with his index finger, seemingly not intending to answer my question.

I shook my head, looked at Strange warily, and said, "I refuse to talk to you until I see Rou Yi. And don't try to get any secrets from me."

Strange smiled and said to me, "Don't worry, you will tell me the secrets."
