As the submarine continued to advance into the depths of the ocean, the burning sensation in my body became more and more obvious.

I could clearly feel myself getting closer and closer to a certain "existence," but I wasn't sure what it was. Perhaps the underwater gate that had thrown me out was in this ocean.

The submarine's equipment malfunctioned. The lighting equipment on the outside of the hull failed. There was no external lighting, but we could still see various creatures through the pitch-black seawater.

However, these creatures were not quite the same as the marine life we usually see...

The "fish" here did not have spindle-shaped heads, but heads shaped like those of primates. Their fins seemed to have evolved into webbed limbs. Their upper bodies resembled human limbs covered in soft, fine scales, while their lower bodies were still fish tails.

They looked very similar to the mermaids in movies.

Just as we were observing them, a "fish" suddenly swam up to the periscope. Its image was clearly displayed before us, and its ugly appearance gave us a great shock.

This was no mermaid; it was simply a monster!

Its eyes were gray and bulging out of their sockets. Its entire head was like a deformed, bald head, narrow in the front and wide in the back. It had no nose, but gills on both sides. Most terrifying of all, its mouth was like a torn fish mouth, taking up half of its face. It protruded outward, and inside were tooth-like structures like barbs.

Zoe was shocked and cried out in panic.

The fatty patted his chest and complained, "This is not a mermaid at all; it's just an ugly mermaid. Ugh, it's disgusting. I'm never eating fish again."

The ugly mermaid outside the submarine seemed to sense the movement inside the submarine and let out a piercing cry. Then, they all moved away from us, observing our submarine from a distance within sight, unsure whether it was out of curiosity or some other plan.

I broke out in a cold sweat, recalling my experience on that Brazilian fishing boat. I only remembered hiding in the cabin. Everything outside the boat was unknown...I never expected there to be such monsters outside.

But the more I thought about it, the more something felt wrong. I could now feel that this pitch-black water area resonated with me, which meant that I was likely from here, from the depths of the water. But how did I get out of this strange water area?

My memories were like gears without oil, "kacha, kacha" unable to turn. The more I thought about it, the more my head hurt.

The submarine continued to "dive," but the visibility in the water became higher and higher. The line of sight became clearer and clearer, as if there was really a light source underwater.

Jennifer controlled the joystick, sweat pouring from her palms. After seeing these incredible things, she realized that the danger Zoe had spoken of was not the kind she could understand.

The ugly mermaid's piercing cry had summoned more ugly mermaids. They maintained a certain distance from us, their bulging fish eyes staring intently at our submarine.

More and more ugly mermaids gathered together.

I thought to myself that the ugly mermaids, with their strange shapes, probably didn't have high intelligence, but their organization made me feel uneasy.

The fatty showed even deeper worry. If the ugly mermaids showed hostility towards us, so many of them rushing at us might damage the submarine.

The submarine was "diving" at a constant speed. Jennifer told everyone to stay calm and not panic.

She comforted us, saying that most creatures in the ocean would not attack unidentified objects at will. We were like a sinking stone in the ocean now, without light or sound, so we wouldn't attract predators.

Jennifer's comfort did not alleviate our anxiety much. The number of ugly mermaids was increasing, and they were already starting to approach the submarine.

"Damn, this group of ghost fish has completed their assembly and is about to launch a general attack!" the fatty exclaimed.

"Prepare to accelerate." Jennifer also began to panic. She asked the fatty to assist her in manually operating the engine starting device.

With the close cooperation of the two, the submarine experienced a brief buffer and suddenly accelerated, fleeing the ugly mermaid swarm.

Seeing the submarine suddenly accelerate and flee, the ugly mermaid swarm also moved, closely following behind and gradually approaching our submarine. The ugly mermaids were almost within reach...

"We can't shake them off. Should we use weapons to attack..." I asked tremulously.

"The electronic system has malfunctioned. We can only manually launch torpedoes, which...takes time..." Jennifer quickly prepared the torpedo launch, "I don't know if it's still in time..."

Just when we were at a loss, a commotion suddenly occurred in the fish swarm.

The ugly mermaids at the rear of the fish swarm suddenly scattered and fled, letting out a piercing, sharp whistle. The other ugly mermaids who noticed the abnormality also quickly fled away from the submarine. As if they had seen something terrifying, they swam away without looking back.

Just as we were wondering what had disturbed the fish swarm so much that they had such a big reaction, the answer appeared before our eyes. In front of us, a slow-reacting ugly mermaid was suddenly wrapped in a tentacle a dozen centimeters thick and pulled into the darkness in the distance the next second.

A few of the fleeing ugly mermaids who were slow to escape were also unfortunately bound by other tentacles, and one after another were pulled into the darkness in the distance.

We couldn't see the outline of the tentacled monster in the darkness, but judging from the size of the tentacles extending from the darkness and the reaction of the ugly mermaids, the predator must be very large.

The submarine quickly dived and escaped the scene. We successfully escaped a disaster.

From the periscope, we vaguely saw a behemoth pass by the place where the ugly mermaids had gathered, like a mobile fortress. After it passed, it left behind the remains of the mermaids it had eaten.

Jennifer had served in the navy and had never been afraid of the ocean, but this was the first time she had deeply felt the fear that came from the sea.

"Was that an octopus just now..." Zoe guessed.

Jennifer said in a trembling voice, "The largest octopus is only a dozen meters long, and the largest squid is only twenty or thirty meters long. Just one tentacle of that monster was tens of meters long..."

"This is not the ocean..." Han Yu suddenly said, "...not the ocean in the traditional sense. There is no inverted state of gravity on Earth, and those creatures cannot be bred in the Earth's marine environment..."

"So...in other words, the sea area we are in is not on Earth?" Jennifer asked in horror.

"What I can be sure of is that this sea area is isolated from the oceans on Earth. In other words, we may be in another ocean space," Han Yu explained.

Jennifer suddenly thought of something and said, "That's right, I have a discovery..."
