Old Five is a Goose.
Chapter 47: A Man with Guts
"Clang!" Mo Wu Ji almost thought his dagger had struck a steel plate, sparks even flying out. Fortunately, the dagger he'd pilfered from Hu Fei was indeed excellent; it didn't break.
"Snap!" The lightning struck Mo Wu Ji's chest.
A scorching pain surged through him. Having ample experience with being nearly killed by lightning, Mo Wu Ji immediately tried his best to guide the lightning into his second meridian, which was only half-opened and not yet fully unblocked.
"Guiding" was more of wishful thinking, as Mo Wu Ji didn't actually know how to control it. Whether it was luck or the lightning's inclination to rush towards previously opened meridians, he couldn't tell.
The searing pain flooded into Mo Wu Ji's second meridian. Even without hearing any sound, Mo Wu Ji had the distinct feeling that this lightning, after subjecting him to agonizing pain, had blasted open a crack in his blocked meridian.
Mo Wu Ji was thrown backwards by the lightning strike, sending another person flying. He then scrambled to his feet as quickly as possible. This wasn't like Thunderclap Forest, where there were lightning marshes; this place was teeming with sea monsters, and lying on the ground was the most dangerous thing he could do. Even if he wasn't killed by a sea monster, he'd be trampled to death by the others.
However, instead of being afraid, he was delighted. The thunder crocodile's lightning attack seemed gentler than the lightning in the Thunderclap Forest. Fighting the thunder crocodile was dangerous, but it was also an opportunity. As long as he was careful, he might be able to unblock his second meridian today.
The thunder crocodile seemed somewhat surprised that a lightning bolt to Mo Wu Ji hadn't killed him. After a moment of hesitation, the thunder crocodile charged again, specifically targeting Mo Wu Ji. It seemed Mo Wu Ji's insignificant attack had enraged it.
Another lightning bolt struck towards Mo Wu Ji. This time, Mo Wu Ji had learned his lesson. He knew he couldn't be like that immortal master, who could slice two thunder crocodiles into four pieces with a single strike. Forget slicing the thunder crocodile in half; he'd be hard-pressed to leave even a faint mark on it.
Mo Wu Ji still ignored the lightning hurtling towards him. In fact, even if he wanted to dodge, he wouldn't have the ability to do so. As the lightning struck, Mo Wu Ji moved forward instead of back, his dagger directly thrusting towards the thunder crocodile's lower throat.
The immortal master hadn't lied; Mo Wu Ji's dagger indeed pierced the thunder crocodile's lower throat. The dagger's tip once again encountered some resistance, but unlike the previous feeling of stabbing steel, this time Mo Wu Ji's momentum carried the dagger directly into the thunder crocodile's lower throat. Scarlet blood gushed out, covering Mo Wu Ji's arm and staining half his body red.
The thunder crocodile roared in agony, and several lightning bolts slammed down, all hitting Mo Wu Ji, leaving him covered in wounds and his hair singed.
Another wave of excruciating pain washed over him. Mo Wu Ji felt as if he were being cut into tiny pieces, his entire body trembling uncontrollably. But the thunder crocodile, bleeding profusely from its throat, seemed unaffected and lunged at Mo Wu Ji even more furiously. Mo Wu Ji had completely enraged this six-legged thunder crocodile.
This pain wasn't in vain; Mo Wu Ji also felt the crack in his second meridian widening.
He practically bit his tongue off, using his unwavering will to stand up shakily, and then poured a bottle of meridian opening fluid into his mouth.
The surrounding people retreated in droves. Mo Wu Ji hadn't killed the six-legged thunder crocodile; instead, he'd enraged it. No one wanted to stay and be subjected to the thunder crocodile's fury.
Instead of retreating, Mo Wu Ji endured the terrible pain and lunged towards the thunder crocodile's lower throat again, stabbing out once more.
This man is crazy, was the common thought of everyone who saw Mo Wu Ji's actions. No one in such a wounded state would not only fail to dodge but instead charge madly at the six-legged thunder crocodile. Wasn't this madness? There were better ways to seek death.
"Snap, snap..." Two more lightning bolts struck Mo Wu Ji's chest, and Mo Wu Ji stabbed his dagger into the thunder crocodile's lower throat again.
The second meridian was opened a little more by the lightning, and the wound on the thunder crocodile's throat also grew larger.
The thunder crocodile's vitality was extremely strong. Even after being stabbed twice by Mo Wu Ji, it still rushed at him crazily.
Having experienced two near-death experiences, Mo Wu Ji became even more calm. He continued to open a bottle of meridian opening fluid and swallow it, thrusting his dagger out again.
After three times, Mo Wu Ji was covered in blood, unsure whether it was his own or the thunder crocodile's. After being blasted away by the thunder crocodile's lightning, he would steadfastly get up again, drink the meridian opening fluid, and then charge towards the thunder crocodile to stab it in the lower throat, only to be struck by the thunder crocodile's lightning again...
It was as if a cycle had formed: Mo Wu Ji's dagger stabbing at the thunder crocodile's lower throat, the thunder crocodile's lightning blasting Mo Wu Ji away, Mo Wu Ji drinking meridian opening fluid, then desperately crawling up and charging towards the thunder crocodile to stab it in the lower throat again, and then being struck by the thunder crocodile's lightning...
Those who were close enough were stunned. The thunder crocodile's vitality was strong, but this little servant's vitality seemed even stronger. It was as if these two were competing to see who could endure more beatings; whoever couldn't withstand it would be the loser. This wasn't just madness; how could a madman last this long?
If there weren't so many thunder crocodiles around, some people might have stopped to watch Mo Wu Ji's battle with the thunder crocodile.
The thunder crocodile was, after all, flesh and blood. After being stabbed nearly ten times by Mo Wu Ji, its nearly three-meter body collapsed onto the deck.
Almost the moment the thunder crocodile fell, Mo Wu Ji felt a sense of ease throughout his body, and a feeling of connection washed over him.
His second meridian had been opened. Mo Wu Ji's hands were trembling, unsure whether it was from overexertion or from the excitement of having his second meridian unblocked.
He had almost been killed by the thunder crocodile. After going through hellish torment, he had been reborn. This result, achieved after so much hardship, made him cherish it even more.
With two meridians unblocked, Mo Wu Ji felt both refreshed and exhausted. He needed to rest for a while.
Inspired by Mo Wu Ji's bravery, more people rushed towards the thunder crocodiles. People were constantly being electrocuted to death by the thunder crocodiles, and thunder crocodiles were constantly being killed by the combined efforts of the crowd. No one would say that Mo Wu Ji was afraid to die; the scene of Mo Wu Ji risking his life to kill a thunder crocodile was still fresh in their minds.
That thunder crocodile was killed by Mo Wu Ji at the cost of his life, and everyone knew that. Right now, Mo Wu Ji should be sitting on the ground, unable to move and resting; it would be strange if he could still move.
But to everyone's disbelief, Mo Wu Ji only sat for about a quarter of an hour before drinking another bottle of medicinal liquid and then charging towards one of the thunder crocodiles with his dagger.
Some people looked at Mo Wu Ji in astonishment. Was this guy crazy? Based on his performance earlier, even if he stopped fighting now, no one would blame him; he might even receive a reward from the immortal master after this disaster.
Mo Wu Ji wasn't crazy; he knew how rare this opportunity was. He had meridian opening fluid on him, and there was lightning here to help him open his meridians. If he didn't take advantage of it, he would be a fool.
The dagger once again pierced the lower throat of one of the thunder crocodiles. The enraged thunder crocodile released its opponent and directly pounced on Mo Wu Ji, spitting out several bolts of lightning.
The scene returned to the situation where Mo Wu Ji had killed the first thunder crocodile. Mo Wu Ji was constantly being blasted away by the lightning, and then constantly swallowing medicinal liquid and charging back up.
Again and again, he never gave up.
"This guy has guts..." A young woman standing in the distance saw Mo Wu Ji's actions and exclaimed in surprise.
Hearing this, the young man next to her smiled slightly. "He's just a reckless fool, fighting beasts in a 'you hit me, I hit you' style... But you can't blame him. He probably hasn't cultivated before and hasn't been exposed to martial arts. He can only use this barbaric method."
