False Court
Chapter 949 Victory Day
Immediately afterward, Su Mo's cell door was opened. An Jie walked in, carrying a bottle of high-proof liquor in one hand and a bag of barbecue in the other.
"Brother."
"You're here."
Su Mo quickly sat up when he saw it was An Jie.
"I brought a bottle of good wine; let's have a little."
An Jie said with a somewhat silent expression.
"Brother, you don't look too good."
Su Mo carefully observed An Jie and asked.
An Jie didn't answer Su Mo. He just opened the bottle, poured a glass for each of them. Then he picked up his glass, took a big gulp, and exhaled deeply, saying.
"How can I be in a good mood?"
"Is it because of the conflict between the warden soldiers and the mechanical sentries?"
Su Mo asked tentatively.
"You know about it?"
An Jie was slightly stunned and looked up at Su Mo.
"How could I not know? I was there at the time. Let me tell you, those mechanical sentries are way out of line. I was just about to ask you, is that Artificial Intelligence: Prisoner having her period or something? Why is she acting so crazy lately?"
Su Mo took a bite of barbecue and replied.
"Don't even mention it. Warden Feizake specifically went to see that guy. I heard they even had a fight. Let me tell you, we've been annoyed with that guy for a long time. He wants to control everything, always suppressing us. It's driving us crazy."
An Jie slammed the table in anger, almost breaking it.
"Cough, cough, take it easy, don't get angry. I'm just a little puzzled. Isn't Warden Feizake's authority supposed to be about the same as Artificial Intelligence: Prisoner? Why does it feel like he's the boss? Is this distribution of power a bit bizarre?"
Su Mo asked curiously.
An Jie hesitated for a moment, then whispered to Su Mo, "There's a reason for this. Remember the ruins we explored?"
"I remember."
Su Mo nodded in response.
"The reason why the old prison exploded, causing such a serious accident, destroying half of the Endless Deep Space Prison, and killing all the experimental personnel, was because the previous warden couldn't resist the temptation of the Negative Divinity Fragments and tried to get his hands on them, resulting in tragedy. And it was thanks to that Artificial Intelligence: Prisoner that he responded in time that the disaster didn't spread further. Later, the prison was renovated and a new warden was selected, but because of the previous incident, Warden Feizake's authority was reduced. Therefore, that Artificial Intelligence: Prisoner is, in a sense, the controller of this prison."
An Jie whispered some confidential information to Su Mo.
"I see."
Su Mo was also surprised.
"You don't know how frustrated we are. Artificial intelligence is supposed to serve people. But here, we're serving it. It can do whatever it wants. We originally worked so hard to develop the ruins, just to dig out the lost things and present them to Lord Yikaluoya, to prove that we're okay, and to see if we could get our lost authority back. But as you can see, it was snatched away by that idiot."
An Jie replied, extremely frustrated.
"Don't be angry, eat, eat..."
Su Mo awkwardly comforted An Jie. He had originally thought of asking An Jie to say a word to Feizake to see if he could control that Artificial Intelligence: Prisoner. But looking at the situation, he should just behave himself.
......
The next day, early in the morning, Su Mo was lying in bed, fast asleep.
He was sleeping soundly when Long Ke urgently woke him up.
"Brother, wake up, don't sleep!"
Su Mo opened his eyes and asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's time to go to work. I know you don't have to work, but those mechanical sentries might go crazy."
Long Ke squeezed out a smile and said to Su Mo.
Su Mo's head immediately cleared up, and he quickly got up and replied, "You're right, that makes sense."
Just then, a line of mechanical sentries walked over, and everyone's expressions suddenly tightened.
But to everyone's surprise, the mechanical sentries didn't attack anyone. They just said mechanically, "Preparation time is 30 minutes. As long as you don't exceed the time, you will not be punished."
Then the mechanical sentries left.
Leaving behind a crowd of prisoners looking at each other in confusion.
"What's going on?"
"I don't know? Is this for real?"
"Let's hurry up."
......
Su Mo was also puzzled. Had these mechanical sentries changed their nature?
With many doubts, all the prisoners left their cells and headed towards the work area.
Soon after, they arrived at the work area.
A mechanical sentry announced to everyone, "All rules are restored to what they were before. The increased workload is canceled. No loafing is allowed, or you will be severely punished."
"Great, things are finally back to normal."
Hearing the latest order, many prisoners cheered.
The warden soldiers, who had previously had grim faces, softened a little, but their expressions were still not particularly good.
Even if you looked closely, many soldiers there were unwilling to get too close to the mechanical sentries.
Although the matter had passed, the knot in their hearts had not.
Seeing this, Su Mo breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that the storm had finally passed. Warden Feizake was still quite effective. He must have given that guy a good scolding, and the matter was perfectly resolved.
At this time, Long Ke also boldly approached Su Mo, and asked with a flattering smile.
"Brother, it seems like nothing's wrong anymore. Can I have some food?"
"You sure know how to find an opportunity. Why didn't you come to freeload when the management was so strict a few days ago?"
Su Mo was both amused and annoyed.
"Oh, Brother, how dare I? Those mechanical sentries would have chopped me up."
Long Ke said with a grin.
"Eat, then. It's lucky for you that you have a big brother to protect you, so you have something to eat. The others probably won't have anything to eat for the rest of their lives."
Su Mo joked with Long Ke in a good mood.
"Not really. In five days, it'll be Victory Day. Everyone will have a day off, and both soldiers and prisoners can feast for a day."
Long Ke said while eating.
"This is the interstellar era; there are still holidays like this?"
Su Mo said in surprise.
"Yes, it's stipulated by the City of Star Rings, once a year, and the celebration is quite large. Think about it, even places like us can receive benefits, so how important is this holiday! Brother, let me tell you, we look forward to this day the most every year."
"What exactly is this holiday for?"
"You're asking me, who am I going to ask! We don't know the origin either. It's probably to celebrate the victory of some war."
Long Ke couldn't explain it clearly.
"Forget it, it's useless to ask you."
Su Mo didn't bother to dwell on it.
"No, Brother, you're wronging me a bit. I already know quite a bit. It's just that the City of Star Rings is different from other civilizations. They keep many things secret; you can't figure it out at all. Actually, I suspect that the City of Star Rings is doing this on purpose, just to create a sense of mystery so that people don't dare to mess with it."
Long Ke said with an air of importance.
"Get lost. Does it still need to create a sense of mystery? It's already mysterious enough, okay? Who would dare to mess with it? They're tired of living."
Su Mo rolled his eyes in annoyance.
