False Court

Chapter 193 Tension

Chapter 178 Frozen Base

Just inside the partition door, two human-shaped ice sculptures were frozen. One of the ice sculptures had a hand reaching out towards the door, the facial features still displaying an expression of despair and fear. All of the ice-sculpted figures were uniformly dressed in white coats, likely researchers from the base.

Of course, there were also many soldiers with guns nearby.

Lan Xi curiously observed the two ice sculptures, exclaiming with surprise, "So these are the people of this world! It's my first time seeing them."

"Let me see. They don't seem that special. One nose, two eyes, not even as handsome as me," Sun Duo Xiang said, suddenly intrigued, as he sized them up.

Su Mo looked at Sun Duo Xiang as if he were an idiot, not even bothering to retort.

"Go in!"

"Yes, sir!"

Sun Duo Xiang and the others responded excitedly.

However, their smiles quickly faded as they stepped inside. It was even colder inside, so much so that even the second-generation mechanical armor was struggling to withstand the temperature.

"It's so cold. Is this really a freezer?" Sun Duo Xiang asked, shivering.

"This is a normal base. Something must have gone wrong, and the people inside chose to seal it off and activate the freezing device," Su Mo said as he walked further in.

"No way, are there monsters?" Sun Duo Xiang and the others tensed up, gripping their weapons tightly.

"Hard to say. Be careful," Su Mo warned cautiously.

They followed the passage deeper into the base. The huge base was dark, cold, and eerily silent, making everyone feel uneasy. As they reached a bend in the passage, they almost bumped into a Bai Ze (mythical creature) right in front of them.

Sun Duo Xiang's face turned green, and he instinctively pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The Bai Ze was instantly blown to pieces, the gunshot echoing everywhere.

"Stop!" Su Mo shouted at Sun Duo Xiang.

Sun Duo Xiang quickly released the trigger, looking at Su Mo awkwardly.

"Big brother."

"Don't fire randomly. Look closely. It's already frozen to death," Su Mo said to Sun Duo Xiang, pointing at the shattered pieces of the Bai Ze.

"I understand. That monster just appeared out of nowhere, scared the hell out of me."

"Cough, cough, Brother Sun, why are you so timid?" Ma Ke joked with a laugh.

"Shut up! It's a combat instinct, instinct, understand? Don't talk about me; be careful you don't piss your pants first," Sun Duo Xiang retorted, feeling embarrassed.

"Okay, stop talking. Everyone, be serious. This place looks pretty terrifying," Lan Xi reminded them anxiously.

Although Sun Duo Xiang wanted to argue, he wisely kept his mouth shut.

"Does anyone have a flashlight? It's too dark here. Night vision is good, but it's still lacking," Su Mo asked calmly.

"Yes!" Zhang Hao quickly pulled out mini flashlights from his backpack. They had made plenty of preparations before coming.

"Mm!"

Su Mo and the others turned on their flashlights and cautiously continued forward.

The further they went, the more ice sculptures there were, including both base personnel and various monsters.

It seemed that what Su Mo said was indeed correct; something had gone wrong with this base.

Although these monsters were frozen and likely dead, Sun Duo Xiang and the others were still very nervous as they passed by them, fearing that they might suddenly come to life.

As they walked, Su Mo and the others stopped. On both sides were open offices.

"Search them," Su Mo said after a moment's thought.

"Okay!" Lan Xi and the others nodded in agreement.

They first entered the room on the left, where tables and chairs were overturned and items were scattered in disarray.

Su Mo and the others searched carefully but found nothing of value.

"This is really鬼见鬼 (guijian gui, a devil seeing a devil), how come there's nothing? It's too clean," Sun Duo Xiang said, looking frustrated.

"Next room!" Su Mo didn't dwell on it. There were so many rooms here; he refused to believe they wouldn't find anything.

"Okay!" Lan Xi and the others nodded in agreement.

So, Lan Xi and the others explored one room after another.

The results were still disappointing. They couldn't find anything of value, as if the place had been deliberately cleaned up.

"This base is too poor, there's nothing here," Sun Duo Xiang couldn't help but complain.

Zhang Hao then said, "There's another office ahead that looks relatively large."

"Search!" Su Mo's attitude was clear: don't miss any corner that might have something.

Then they walked inside and saw various documents scattered everywhere, and the drawers were open, as if it had been robbed.

Lan Xi and the others began to search carefully, bit by bit.

Su Mo wasn't idle either. He observed the office all around. At this time, his attention was drawn to a photo hanging on the wall of a kind-looking old man and a lively and lovely girl.

He was also slightly surprised.

"Dan Dan?"

But Su Mo understood. It seemed that all his previous guesses were correct. Dan Dan's grandfather was from this lab. And his status didn't seem low. He must have put the spare key on Dan Dan's person.

All of this seemed like a coincidence, but it was actually inevitable.

"Su Mo, come quickly, look what we found!" Lan Xi shouted excitedly, holding a pile of draft papers.

Su Mo was slightly startled and walked over.

Lan Xi was holding a stack of scratch paper and said excitedly, "Take a look!"

Su Mo picked them up and looked at them, also slightly surprised. It was a set of experimental data about extracting proteins from some monsters and mixing them to produce a new protein that had the effect of reviving the heart and lungs.

And at the back were handwritten structural and decomposition diagrams of the protein material.

Finally, there was a comment: low value.

"Data!" Su Mo suddenly realized.

"That's right, this is the data, information on new drugs." Lan Xi said excitedly.

"What's the use of this? Could it be that we can take it outside to produce it? There are no raw materials outside," Zhang Hao and the others looked baffled, wondering why Lan Xi was so excited.

"You're right, there are no raw materials outside normally, so this data is of little value. But this researcher directly left the protein structure diagram and decomposition technology, so people outside can completely try to synthesize it directly," Lan Xi said excitedly.

"Holy crap, how much is that worth?" Sun Duo Xiang and the others asked excitedly.

"It doesn't seem like you can sell it for money. This kind of data is designated to be recovered, and you can get a certain reward. But it's hard to say how much, but it seems that there are many foreigners on the forum who are buying it at high prices," Lan Xi's smile froze slightly as she explained to Sun Duo Xiang and the others.

"Put it away, you can't sell this thing for money," Su Mo nodded slightly. It seemed that Lan Xi's vocational courses were quite good.

Sun Duo Xiang had a regretful expression on his face. Heart and lung drugs could normally be sold to large pharmaceutical companies for a considerable sum of money.

Enough for a normal person to eat and drink for the rest of their lives.

"You should take it."
