Chapter 1 After a Week

A week later.

Shanghai Pudong Airport. Pei Shi Yu saw me off, driving the car straight into the parking lot. I checked the time and we were a good two hours early.

I took two enormous suitcases out of the trunk, packed by Pei Shi Yu. The two cases were not only large but also very heavy. After putting them down, I joked with Pei Shi Yu, "These cases are as heavy as my mood right now."

She stared at my face for a moment and replied, "Couldn't tell."

"Leaving like this feels like abandoning my family."

"Go without worries. A man's ambition lies in all directions."

Just then, my phone rang. It was Wang Rui. I answered and asked, "Are you here yet?"

"Almost. Just wait for us in the departure lounge."

"Okay."

As I was about to hang up, Wang Rui added, "I brought a whole team with me."

"You Xiang's coming too?"

"Yeah, he's in the same car as me."

"Then we'll meet in the departure lounge."

"You'll see the most beautiful one first, that'll be me."

I was about to retort when Wang Rui hung up. I smiled and said to Pei Shi Yu, "Wang Rui is on the way. She says the most beautiful one you see will be her."

"Is that how you always talk to each other?"

"What's wrong with that?" I asked, pulling the suitcases along.

"It's a shame you didn't get together."

"You and I are the other halves we were looking for. No one else can interfere," I replied confidently.

"As if Wang Rui would ever be interested in you."

"Don't put yourself down. Wang Rui and I are like siblings and confidantes who can talk about anything."

"You're really raising your own value there."

I smiled without saying anything. Pei Shi Yu followed behind, helping me push the suitcases. Listening to the rising and falling sounds, I looked up at the sky. The sun was shining brightly, and I instinctively squinted, seeing a plane just passing overhead, quickly disappearing into the clouds.

In the departure lounge, bustling with people, Pei Shi Yu and I went straight to international departures. I found two seats and said to Pei Shi Yu, "Sit down, don't wear yourself out."

"I want a drink," Pei Shi Yu said, looking at me.

"I'll go buy it. You wait here for me."

"Okay, there's a place to buy them over there," Pei Shi Yu said, pointing in a direction.

I quickly walked in that direction. I had only taken a few steps when I saw Lin Hai, looking around as if searching for something. I went straight up to him and asked, "Are you looking for me?"

Lin Hai looked relieved when he saw me and said, "Yes, I've been looking for you for ages. I thought you'd already boarded."

"There are still two hours to go."

"Are you alone?" Lin Hai asked, puzzled.

I pointed to the seats where Pei Shi Yu was sitting and replied, "Pei Shi Yu is over there. You go over first, I'll go buy drinks."

Perhaps it was the time of day, but the departure lounge was full of people. Non-stop voice announcements reminded people from all over the world to pick up and drop off passengers. My eyes inadvertently looked around, the bustling crowd searching for their own window.

When I returned to my seat, Pei Shi Yu was talking to Lin Hai. When they saw me, they immediately stopped talking. I didn't ask them anything and just put the water in Pei Shi Yu's hand.

"A'Che, be careful when you go abroad for the first time. Don't be as unruly as you are in the country. If you get into trouble, there'll be no one to help you," Lin Hai suddenly said with concern.

"I know."

I didn't refute his words as I used to. After all, I would be gone for quite a while. Although his words of concern sounded a bit like a lecture, at least he was reminding me and worrying about me.

I sat down next to Pei Shi Yu, took out the diamond ring I had prepared earlier from my pocket. It was a pair of rings I had carefully selected a few days ago, and according to my aesthetic sense, they were especially suitable for Pei Shi Yu's fingers. I didn't use any fancy words, just took out one of them and put it directly on her finger, then said, "Wearing it represents a kind of restraint, for both of us."

Pei Shi Yu just smiled slightly, looked at the other one and whispered, "Will you put it on yourself or will I put it on for you?"

I immediately held out my ring finger and replied, "You must put it on, it's a mutual constraint."

"I don't need restraints."

"That's what I like about you."

I took Pei Shi Yu's right hand, gently kissed the diamond, held it to my chest and said, "No matter where I am, you'll always be in here."

"That's enough for a public place," Lin Hai said suddenly from the side.

I stood up and replied, "You should avoid this."

"Avoid what? Isn't your mother coming?"

"She's coming, almost here."

Lin Hai pointed to the big screen and said, "You can check in soon."

"It's early, they'll be here soon."

Just then, Pei Shi Yu pointed to the right and said, "They're here."

I immediately looked over, and there were indeed a lot of people, five in total. Old Wang was also there. As I was about to move over, I saw Wang Rui waving hello to us in a high-profile manner.

When she walked up to me, I asked in surprise, "Aren't you bringing any luggage?"

"What's there to bring? I'll just drop you off there and come back."

"It'll take a few days to settle down, right? At least a few days?" I asked uncertainly.

"Depends on my mood."

"Bro, why not go to Germany!" You Xiang squeezed next to me and said with a smile.

"Your sister arranged it all for me. I have to obey wherever she tells me to go, I have no choice."

Then I smiled at Wang Xin next to me and said, "Thank you for seeing me off."

She didn't say much, just smiled and replied, "It's okay."

I didn't know if this word was appropriate, but I directly gave her a thumbs up to praise her.

"A'Che, you must keep in mind what Mom told you," Madam Li said, holding my hand.

"Yeah, I'll remember what you said, don't worry, I'll reform myself," I replied playfully.

Then my mother walked up to Pei Shi Yu and said, "Shi Yu, thank you for your hard work."

Pei Shi Yu wanted to stand up, but my mother immediately pressed her shoulder down, "You sit."

When she saw Lin Hai next to her, she immediately turned away. Seeing this, I leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Be natural, don't act like enemies. You'll see each other again in the future. Your current appearance doesn't suit your temperament."

"I can't be natural. If I had known he was coming, I wouldn't have come."

"Then go back, so you don't feel uncomfortable looking at him," I deliberately used reverse psychology.

"Why should I leave?" Her voice was quite loud.

You Xiang thought something had happened and came to us immediately, asking, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, why don't you and Mom go back first," I said softly to You Xiang.

"Are you okay?" You Xiang continued to ask, confused.

Lin Hai seemed to realize my mother's emotions. Seeing him walk up to me, he said very appropriately, "A'Che, then I'll go back. So many people are seeing you off, I won't join in. Remember to call me if you need anything."
