Chapter 192 Business Trip
This was an emerging area, with high-rise buildings still under busy construction. I parked the car and opened the file bag Pei Xianglong had given me, which contained the contact information for the person in charge.
I took out my phone and made the call. After I explained my purpose, someone quickly came down and headed straight for my car. He was very polite, greeting me with a smile and asking, "Hello, you've come from Hangzhou, right?"
I immediately got out of the car and replied, "Yes, I was sent by Mr. Pei."
"Let's talk in the office."
I followed him, noticing that this person in charge wasn't very old. From the way he walked, I could tell he was a meticulous person. After a few steps, he suddenly stopped and said, "This area is still developing, it must have been difficult to find your way here?"
"Not difficult, the navigation can take you directly here."
"Mr. Pei wasn't here the last time you came, so some projects need to be supplemented. The preliminary work has already started a few days ago, and this additional project will be starting soon. After this is done, we still have to wait for approval, so the timeline is very tight."
"I understand."
As he spoke, we arrived at a temporary office building. The interior was clean and simple. As soon as I sat down on the sofa, someone handed me a cup of tea. I then took out the documents from the file bag and glanced at them. There was Pei Xianglong's signature at the bottom.
I stood up and handed them to him. He looked at them carefully. After a while, he put away the documents and said enthusiastically, "Let's go, I'll take you to see the construction site."
I hesitated for a moment, then stood up and replied with a smile, "Okay, I have a few points to add later, also Mr. Pei's intention."
"We can talk as we go. My name is Liu."
"I'm Lin Che."
He drove me to a construction site. The surrounding area was full of projects under construction. The project under construction already had scaffolding up, with steel and cement piled everywhere. He introduced everything to me in detail, including the supporting projects. Taking the opportunity, I opened my mouth and instructed, "When I came, Mr. Pei told me that the project must be completed on schedule."
To save trouble, I handed him the note directly. It was actually just some engineering details, mentioning some details that might have been overlooked outside of the contract, and a description of the project funds, all reasonable requests.
I walked to the project map on the side of the construction site. It was clearly marked, and also included a map. The location here was excellent. Once the framework was in place, traffic would be accessible in all directions, connecting to Shanghai in the north, Fujian in the south, and embracing the East China Sea.
I lit a cigarette and took a puff. The person in charge came to my side and introduced, "The construction of each new district requires investment, so the early stages are very difficult."
I smiled and replied, "Every city is the same. Ningbo's development is still good."
"We are surrounded by large projects, it will take some time to take shape."
"The planning is not bad." I replied, looking at the map.
"Hangzhou has also been developing rapidly in recent years."
Indeed, the changes in the three years I was in prison were too great, especially in the Hangzhou CBD area. New high-rise buildings rose from the ground in just a few years, standing in a row along the Qiantang River.
...
It was around 3 p.m. when I finished all the work Pei Xianglong had assigned me. As I sat in the car preparing to return, Pei Shiyu called. I answered and asked, "It should be late at night there, right?"
"Yeah, I've already slept. I'm very awake now."
"Aren't you tired?"
"What else can I do? I've been under a lot of pressure these past few days, and now I'm already thinking about what I need to do today."
"Do your best, don't overwork yourself."
"Okay, what are you doing now?"
"Didn't I report to your father today? On my first day, he sent me on a business trip to Ningbo."
"Isn't it good to go on a business trip to your hometown?"
"I've been away for too many years, and the changes are quite big. I'm about to return to Hangzhou."
"Did you ask your father yesterday?" It seemed that Pei Shiyu was calling about the stone company after all.
"I asked."
"What did he say?"
"He's the legal representative."
"Then just do as I said."
Thinking of Lin Hai's attitude last night, I paused and said, "Haven't you closed the deal over there yet?"
"We'll see the results today. I think I have an 80% chance of success, so you need to keep up with the pace."
"Lin Hai doesn't seem to agree to dismantle the stone company." I thought for a moment and replied.
"What are his reasons, or what are his requirements?" Pei Shiyu asked very rationally.
"He said that trade is difficult now, and he wants me to continue doing the old business."
"Wasn't it shut down?"
"He used to rely on the business your father gave him. Later, without the cooperation, the business probably wasn't very good. The shutdown was also a recent thing. He's handing it over to me because he probably thinks I can bring the business back, so he doesn't agree with changing industries."
"Then buy it directly in my name."
"I'll talk to him again when I get back to Hangzhou, but I also need to know if your business is reliable, after all, the investment is too big."
"If the deal goes through, the business will definitely not be a problem. It will be built with 80% automation and 20% manual labor, which will definitely be a huge investment, and also a cooperative project. If the factory building is settled, you can even take shares."
After Pei Shiyu finished analyzing, I measured it in the shortest amount of time. Pei Shiyu was someone who wouldn't say things she wasn't sure about. I guessed correctly that Shen Yi should also be involved.
"If you cooperate with Shen Yi, will there be foreign investment?" I asked cautiously.
"Yes, are you still worried?"
"I understand, I'll talk to Lin Hai when I get back."
"You don't respect him at all, how could he possibly agree?"
"If he agrees tonight, I'll call him Dad like I used to."
"That's not how you do things. First, change your address to make him feel touched, then the following things will be easier."
"That's a bit hypocritical and doesn't suit my style. I haven't called him that all this time, and now I'm calling him Dad because I need something. He's not stupid."
"If everything goes smoothly, I can come back the day after tomorrow. Will you go to Hong Kong to pick me up?"
"Why are you flying to Hong Kong?"
"I have something to do."
"Then come back yourself, I've never been to Hong Kong. When you get to Hong Kong, will you find me or will I pick you up?"
Just as I was speaking, the project manager suddenly stood next to my car. I immediately rolled down the window and said to Pei Shiyu on the phone, "I have something to do now, I'll talk to you later."
After I hung up the phone, I saw him holding the bag I had left behind. It contained some engineering materials, which he had prepared for me to take back to Pei Xianglong.
"Luckily it wasn't too early, otherwise I would have had to send it to President Pei."
I smiled, took the bag, and drove straight out of the construction site...
