Da Si Ma Kelly
Chapter 207 Seeking It Out
We rested pretty late that day. When I came out of the bathroom, Pei Shi Yu was still organizing some clothes.
I stood beside her, drying my hair with a towel, and said, "It's late, let's go to sleep."
"I'm putting away your clothes. From now on, take them from these cabinets."
"Okay, got it."
I went to the balcony. It was very quiet outside. I checked the time; it was almost eleven thirty. Occasionally, cars sped past, seemingly wanting to leave a mark on the quiet night.
Pei Shi Yu had already changed the bedsheets, replacing them with a pink six-piece set that looked very princess-like. I lifted the covers and immediately slipped inside, beckoning to Pei Shi Yu and saying, "Hurry up and sleep, or you won't be able to get up tomorrow."
"I'm full of energy right now."
I yawned, my eyes fixed on Pei Shi Yu. Her hair was still half-dry, and a black camisole nightgown looked particularly charming. A strand of hair fell across her chest, and she immediately tucked it behind her ear.
I just watched her quietly...
Until she got up and saw the look in my eyes, as if she had just realized I was there. Then she slowly walked to the bed, habitually stretched, turned off the light, and asked, "Is your grandfather's health okay?"
"He seemed quite energetic, not as bad as Lin Hai said."
"Why did you think of visiting him today?"
"I just wanted to go. He even said he would take you with him next time."
"Such a quick change in attitude?"
"Lin Hai deserves the credit. He's probably been saying good things about me to him recently, the opposite of before."
That night, we talked a lot, about topics we hadn't discussed before, including our childhood experiences and our hopes for the future. I really liked Pei Shi Yu's personality because she knew how to listen and would share my joys and sorrows, pointing out my shortcomings in the right way.
...
Time passed quickly, and it was soon Sunday, the day Pei Shi Yu had arranged to meet Lin Hai. It was almost nine o'clock, and we were still in bed.
Pei Shi Yu had her back to me. I turned over and put my arm around her waist, asking, "Shouldn't we get up?"
"Mmm..."
At that moment, my phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number. I hesitated for a moment before answering, "Hello?"
"Are you Mr. Lin?" The voice on the other end was a woman's, and she sounded quite young.
"Yes, who is this?"
"Are you renting out a house?"
I then remembered that I had posted information online four or five days ago, so I quickly replied, "Yes, I am."
"Can we see the house today?"
"How many people will be living there?" I asked cautiously.
"Is it a two-bedroom apartment?"
"It's three bedrooms, but one of the rooms is quite small."
"Is it convenient to see the house today?" the other person asked again.
"How many people will be living there?" I asked quite carefully, because I didn't like renting to a large, mixed group of people.
"Just two girls. If you haven't rented it out yet, let us see the house today."
"The pictures I posted online are all real shots. The house hasn't been rented out before, so I prefer clean people."
"It's normal for you to have requirements, but we haven't seen the house yet, so it's best to talk about it in person after we've seen it." Judging by her tone, she seemed like a fairly individualistic girl.
"I have something to do today. Would it be okay after three o'clock in the afternoon?" I thought for a moment and replied.
"We're waiting to rent a place. Is the time you're suggesting definite?"
"Basically, yes. This is your cell phone number, right?"
"Yes, then give me a call when you're done with your business."
"Okay."
I hung up the phone and immediately started getting out of bed, urging Pei Shi Yu, "Hurry up and get up. I have things to do this afternoon. I basically can't do anything in the morning. Let's have lunch and then go see Lin... my dad."
"Someone wants to rent the house?"
"Yeah, I just posted some information, and someone called so quickly."
"Then you should go look at the house now. When you come back, we can have lunch. Wouldn't that be efficient?"
"Want to go together?" I asked Pei Shi Yu while putting on my socks.
"Whatever, if I go, you'll have to wait a while," Pei Shi Yu replied, stretching.
"It's okay, I'll wait for you. Then I'll call the other person again now."
As I said that, I was already walking downstairs. As soon as I opened the door, I saw a middle-aged aunt standing in the garden. Hearing the sound, she immediately turned around and said, "Hello, I heard you're looking for a nanny?"
I looked at her a little surprised. She wasn't very old, about fifty years old, and looked quite clean. I didn't answer her directly but asked curiously, "Who told you?"
Because I had been getting off work late this week and had also worked overtime yesterday, Saturday, I hadn't had time to look for a nanny at all. I was very surprised by her words...
"It's like this, I'm currently working at the house in front. This place has been empty recently. A few days ago, when I went to buy groceries, I saw a car parked at the door, so I came over to ask if you needed someone?"
After hearing that, I felt a little baffled, so I asked her, not quite understanding, "Aren't you working at someone else's house? Why are you still looking for a job?"
"Tomorrow is my last day. They're not living here anymore, so..."
To be honest, I had never hired anyone to take care of me before, and I wasn't very clear about what to pay attention to in this area, so I shouted loudly, "Pei Shi Yu."
After a while, I saw Pei Shi Yu coming down from upstairs, frowning and asking, "Why are you shouting so loudly?"
I pointed outside and said, "This aunt is looking for a nanny job, go take a look."
"Did you find her?"
"No, she came herself. She said she's working nearby and tomorrow is her last day. She saw our car parked at the door and came over to ask."
"You don't know anything about her, do you think she's okay?" Pei Shi Yu asked cautiously.
"Then go reject her."
"You go, just tell her the truth."
"She looks honest enough and is very clean. Go take a look."
After I said that, Pei Shi Yu hesitated for a moment, looked outside the door, and then walked to the garden. As soon as she went out, I heard her say, "Auntie, it's you?"
I immediately walked out as well, only to see the other party quickly walk to Pei Shi Yu's side and say, "Yes, it's me. I haven't seen you in a long time. A few days ago, when I went to buy groceries, I saw your car parked at your house. I've been waiting for several days and haven't seen you. It's Sunday today, so I've been waiting here since early in the morning."
"You're not working at Lao Xu's house anymore?"
"No, they're not living here anymore due to work reasons. Tomorrow is my last day. I wanted to ask you first before going to the labor market."
Pei Shi Yu said with a smile, "Auntie, come inside and let's talk."
