Feng Jin had barely stepped into the room when she caught sight of Madam Sun, lying unconscious on the floor. Ling Mohan was nowhere to be found, and a search of the surroundings yielded no sign of him.
She hadn't expected the person brought in to be Madam Sun, but since Lu Shi had delivered her, why wasn't Ling Mohan in the room?
Just as Feng Jin was about to leave, Madam Sun, who had been unconscious, suddenly stirred.
"Why are you here? Where is this place!"
Madam Sun, who had been groggy, instantly sobered up upon seeing Feng Jin. She shot up from the ground as if her fur had been ruffled, her gaze towards Feng Jin filled with hostility and wariness.
If she had a weapon in her hand, she would have attacked already.
Feng Jin's eyebrows flickered slightly, and she looked at Madam Sun with amusement. "I'm standing right here. Can't you guess where this is?"
Madam Sun was also a smart woman. Hearing Feng Jin say this, she naturally understood what was happening.
Taking a step forward, Madam Sun stood opposite Feng Jin and angrily rebuked, "You vixen, how dare you! I am the Prime Minister's wife, the Third Prince's mother-in-law. If you dare to tie me up here, your father will surely not let you off when he finds out."
Feng Jin let out a cold laugh, finding Madam Sun's words utterly nonsensical. "You've been acting too much, you've even fooled yourself..."
"Prime Minister's wife... the Third Prince's mother-in-law. You're just dreaming. Madam Sun, have you forgotten that you were long ago demoted to a concubine? And your daughter, Feng Ruoyan, is the same as you, merely a concubine to the Third Prince. How dare you call yourself that? It's strange, though, you mother and daughter seem to have a fondness for being concubines."
"Feng Jin, you little vixen, I'll kill you... I'll kill you..."
Her sore spot having been poked, Madam Sun immediately flew into a rage and lunged at Feng Jin, teeth bared and claws out.
Before she could even touch the corner of Feng Jin's clothes, a flash of silver appeared, and Madam Sun was instantly immobilized, unable to move.
"With your petty tricks, don't flaunt them in front of me. Since you've arrived here, you won't be leaving. Madam Sun, rest assured and stay here. You'll suffer less. Otherwise, your life might be in danger."
Feng Jin threatened fiercely. Although she didn't know what Ling Mohan wanted with Madam Sun, this troublemaker, keeping her here was no mistake.
She also had no intention of removing the silver needles from Madam Sun's acupoints. Having people guard her would not be as effective as immobilizing her with silver needles.
"Let me go, you little vixen! I won't let you off, I absolutely won't let you off!" Madam Sun's hysterical shouts completely disappeared as the door closed.
"Young Madam, you're out?"
Lu Shi saw Feng Jin emerge and hurriedly stepped forward, his face full of flattery.
"When the Young General returns to the manor, tell him to find me."
She wanted to ask Ling Mohan what his intentions were in bringing Madam Sun to the manor.
"Yes, Young Madam. When the Young General returns, this subordinate will definitely inform him."
Lu Shi quickly responded, his only thought being to send Feng Jin away as soon as possible. Otherwise, when the Young General returned, he certainly wouldn't go easy on him.
Without any further delay, after giving her instructions, Feng Jin got up and left.
Not long after she returned to her room, Ling Mohan appeared.
"Did you go to the study?" Ling Mohan asked Feng Jin urgently as soon as he entered the room, before he even sat down.
Nodding without reservation, Feng Jin raised her eyelids and glanced at Ling Mohan. "I heard Lu Shi sent a woman to your study. I was curious, so I went to see what kind of stunning beauty was worth the Young General acting so secretively."
"Seeing her with my own eyes, I realized what it means to be breathtaking. The Young General's taste is truly unique."
Feng Jin teased and mocked intentionally, the smile on her lips never fading. To be honest, she was indeed shocked for a moment when she saw Madam Sun in the study.
"Stop teasing me. That person in the study was clearly Madam Sun. You saw it with your own eyes, yet you insist on being like this."
It's not like he didn't know who was in the study, yet she insisted on mocking him so sarcastically. Ling Mohan sighed and sat beside Feng Jin, looking slightly helpless.
Feng Jin chuckled and put down her teacup. "I was just joking with you. Why are you taking it so seriously? Could it be... you really have feelings for..."
The rest of her words were cut short as she met Ling Mohan's cold gaze. Feng Jin wisely closed her mouth. If she continued speaking, Ling Mohan might truly be angered to death.
She wasn't prepared to be a widow at such a young age, so it was better to say less.
"Why did you bring Madam Sun to the manor?" Feng Jin quickly changed the subject and asked.
"Madam Sun went to the Third Prince's manor to find Feng Ruoyan. I was worried that these two might be colluding, so I had Lu Shi wait outside and bring Madam Sun here. She was just confined to the study. Before I could even see her, you beat me to it."
If anyone was to blame, it was only Feng Jin's many informants in the manor. Even the slightest movement couldn't escape Feng Jin's notice.
Glaring fiercely at Ling Mohan, Feng Jin said with a tone full of threat, "What? I can't even go to your study?"
"Or... are you truly keeping a mistress in your study and afraid I'll find out!"
"What foolishness is your little head thinking up? It's all baseless stuff. You're the only one who overthinks things all day. My study is only that big. If I wanted to keep a mistress, where would I hide her? Is there any place to hide her?"
Keeping a mistress... not only had he never thought of it, but even if he wanted to, he didn't have the means. He was as poor as a church mouse. He didn't even have money to drink or listen to music, so how could he keep a mistress?
Ling Mohan pulled Feng Jin into his embrace and pinched her delicate chin, forcing her to look at him. "I don't have a hobby of keeping mistresses. If my wife is willing, I could perhaps hide you in a golden house."
He had actually thought of hiding Feng Jin forever, preventing her from even leaving the house, belonging to him alone in this life, with no one else even having the right to glance at her.
"You wish!" Feng Jin said word by word, pushing the man away. How could she possibly be locked up forever? He should put away his brainless, wicked whims.
"What's wrong? You're not willing? I think we could try it..."
The thought of Feng Jin being locked up in a room, waiting for him to return every day, greatly satisfied his small vanity.
"Give up on that idea. It's impossible!"
