Chapter 400 Visiting the Door

"Three or four days, that's soon enough. Madam, your maid will tidy up Sister Caiqing's room so she can sleep comfortably when she returns."

"Good, thank you for your hard work."

Chu Qing shook her head, smiling brightly. "Your maid is not tired. This is all something your maid should do. I'll go tidy it up now."

More diligently than if it were her own affairs, Chu Qing cleaned Caiqing's room meticulously, wiping away dust from every nook and cranny.

The curtains in the entire room were replaced with new ones, and all the bedding was changed.

It took a full day to finish the cleaning. Chu Qing looked at the room with satisfaction. Caiqing could move in directly when she returned.

"It's already cleaned so quickly."

As Feng Jin entered the room, she saw a refreshed space with new bedding and polished furniture. She had to admit Chu Qing's efficiency was truly impressive.

"Madam, why have you come? The room is dusty, please go out quickly."

Upon seeing Feng Jin enter, Chu Qing hurried to greet her, ushering her out for fear the dust would cause her to choke.

Feng Jin had barely stepped inside when Chu Qing rushed her out.

"I'm fine. I was looking for you for a while and couldn't find you anywhere. I didn't expect you to actually come here."

She had thought Chu Qing would wait a couple more days to clean, but she hadn't expected her to come so soon.

"Your maid thought it best to clean it early so that Sister Caiqing could move in directly and live more comfortably upon her return."

After these days of interaction, Chu Qing truly cared for Caiqing, only wishing for her to live comfortably when she returned.

"Caiqing won't be back for another two days. It's still timely to clean in a few days. Please come out with me first."

She had been looking for Caiqing precisely to bring Chu Qing to the Third Prince's residence. With that said, she pulled Chu Qing and walked out.

She had made an appointment with Lin Yuwei to visit the Third Prince's residence early that morning. Lin Yuwei was waiting outside, and only Feng Jin was needed.

"Sister Feng Jin, are we just going to visit so openly, without any other preparations?"

"No need. We are going for a visit, and to probe the enemy's strength."

Feng Jin said this and walked forward briskly. Lin Yuwei, waiting outside, was already growing impatient and was about to go in to fetch her personally when Feng Jin emerged.

"Sister Feng Jin, you're finally out! If you didn't come out soon, I was going to come looking for you inside."

Lin Yuwei's tone carried a hint of complaint. She had waited outside for a full half hour. Initially, Feng Jin had said she'd be out in a moment, but now, after such a long wait, she had finally appeared.

If she had known this would happen, she would have waited inside and saved herself from standing here in the cold wind.

"I apologize for the delay. Let's hurry, so we don't waste any more time."

Feng Jin said apologetically, urging Lin Yuwei to quickly get into the carriage. Too much time had already been wasted, and any further delay would be too late.

"Sister Feng Jin, did you send a calling card to the Third Prince's residence yesterday?"

"No, I didn't."

Feng Jin replied matter-of-factly. It was just a casual visit; did it really require a calling card?

"If we didn't send a calling card, it might not be proper to go so openly."

As they were nearing their destination, Lin Yuwei began to hesitate again. After all, she wasn't very familiar with the people at the Third Prince's residence, and going like this felt rather awkward.

Feng Jin was unfazed. "What are you afraid of? The intention is to catch them off guard. If we notify them in advance, they'll be prepared, and what's the point of us going then?"

Her intention was to assess the situation at the Third Prince's residence. If she notified them beforehand, there would be no need to go.

"Don't worry, they can't possibly turn us away. What are you afraid of? Just go ahead."

Upon arriving at the Third Prince's residence, Feng Jin adjusted her attire and walked in with an open demeanor. Lin Yuwei, following behind, appeared much more reserved.

"Can't you walk in with your head held high? We're here for a visit, not to steal. What are you afraid of?"

Feng Jin advised Lin Yuwei, taking her hand and pulling her to walk in with her head held high.

"Kindly announce our arrival. The Princess of Jing and the young madam of the Ling family are here to visit the Third Prince's consort and his concubine."

"My Princess Consort, please wait a moment. This subordinate will first report to the Prince's consort."

The young servant at the gate finished speaking and turned to leave, leaving Feng Jin and Lin Yuwei standing outside.

"Sister Feng Jin, are we just going to stand out here?"

This was her first time experiencing being shut out, and the feeling was truly unpleasant.

"Don't worry, someone will come to greet us shortly."

She was confident that Liu Meng Han would personally come to greet them. Liu Meng Han was very meticulous about appearances and would absolutely not slight them this way.

As Feng Jin had predicted, after waiting outside for not long, Liu Meng Han came out in a hurry. "Second sister-in-law, young madam Ling, I apologize for not greeting you sooner. Please don't blame me."

"Third Prince's consort, you are too kind. It is we who have come uninvited, and we ask for your understanding."

Feng Jin was a social butterfly, steering the conversation to the main topic in just a few words.

"Second sister-in-law, young madam, it's windy outside. Let's go inside and sit down."

Liu Meng Han led Feng Jin and the other inside. Her pregnancy was already showing, and her movements were becoming somewhat clumsy.

After taking just two steps, a palace maid skillfully stepped forward to support Liu Meng Han.

Seeing Liu Meng Han's state, Feng Jin observed the shape of her belly, which seemed to suggest a boy. However, whether it was a boy or a girl could only be determined after birth.

"I wanted to invite Second sister-in-law and young madam to visit me some time ago. However, my body was unstable three months ago, so I thought I'd wait until I was further along. But then the Empress was still worried and assigned so many people to guard me. It's become difficult to even go out for a walk, and I feel like I'm going crazy being confined to this room all day. Fortunately, Second sister-in-law and young madam have come today. We truly have a kindred spirit."

Feng Jin inwardly commented that Liu Meng Han was truly a social master. Her words were flawless. If Lin Yuwei possessed even half of Liu Meng Han's skills, she would be more at ease.

"The Third Prince's consort is expecting the legitimate heir, so it is naturally precious and extraordinary. It is only right for the Empress to be concerned about the heir and show more care to the Prince's consort. As long as you safely give birth to the legitimate heir, your future favor and prosperity will undoubtedly continue."

Feng Jin hit the nail on the head, addressing Liu Meng Han's unspoken thoughts. It was all about mutual flattery, a simple matter that anyone could handle. She considered herself a master of it.
