The two children chattered back and forth, talking for a good while before Feng Jin finally stopped them.
Taking one child by each hand, she led them to the chairs and then looked at them, saying softly, "Da Bao, you're the older one, you speak first."
"Mother, this… how do I get this to move?" Da Bao, having been given permission, eagerly held up his Rubik's Cube and asked.
As Feng Jin took the Rubik's Cube from Da Bao, before she could reply, Er Bao impatiently squeezed forward and said, "Mother, look at mine."
Suddenly, Feng Jin found herself holding two Rubik's Cubes, a little bewildered. What was wrong with these two children today? Were they possessed? Da Bao, being the playful one, it wasn't surprising to see him behaving like this, but Er Bao, why was he like this too?
After some hesitation, Feng Jin decided to put the Rubik's Cubes away. At the very least, she wouldn't let them play with them today.
"You've been playing for a while today. You need to balance work and rest and can't always be obsessed with one thing. I'll put the Rubik's Cubes away for now and you can play with them tomorrow."
Feng Jin went ahead and put the Rubik's Cubes directly into a box, placing it high up, making sure the two little ones wouldn't get them today.
"Mother… no… Mother…"
Da Bao pleaded with a crestfallen expression, his gaze fixed on the box, never once shifting. He had finally gotten the hang of it and was about to delve deeper, and now it was being taken away. His mood plummeted, feeling incredibly dejected.
"No calling out, and no crying. Otherwise, I won't let you play with the Rubik's Cubes again."
As soon as Feng Jin spoke, Da Bao's dejected look vanished without a trace. These were things Mother would definitely do. To ensure a steady supply, he had to endure for now.
Er Bao, however, remained calm, making it impossible to guess his true emotions.
"Very good. Mother will keep these for you and give them back tomorrow."
Feng Jin bent down, ruffled the soft hair of the two little ones, and then walked away.
After the door was closed, Da Bao's face immediately fell. His eyes blazed as he glared at Er Bao standing beside him, his voice tinged with anger, "Why didn't you say anything just now? If you had said something, maybe Mother wouldn't have taken them away."
He blamed everything on Er Bao. Who else was it but Er Bao who hadn't said a word? That's why Mother took the toys away. Yes, it was all Er Bao's fault.
Er Bao rolled his eyes, his contempt for Da Bao deepening. He was always like this, blaming others for everything and never reflecting on himself.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Do you know you're in the wrong and have nothing to say!"
Da Bao was convinced that Er Bao's silence was because he knew he was in the wrong, which only made his arrogance grow.
"I just think you're stupid. There's nothing to say."
Stupid… Da Bao's lips twitched. Was he deeply looked down upon? He was actually called stupid by Er Bao.
"I'm your brother, how can you talk to your brother like this!"
Da Bao put his hands on his hips, asserting his authority as the elder brother, and began to scold Er Bao, deeply displeased with his disrespect.
Wasn't the most important thing for a younger brother to respect his elder brother? How could he say such a thing? It was too much.
"I'm telling the truth. You're inherently stupid and only do stupid things!"
He was utterly speechless at Da Bao's intelligence now. He did things without thinking. Mother was already upset, and he insisted on acting like that, clearly making Mother even angrier, and thus not giving them the Rubik's Cubes.
"You… you're simply too much! You're going to make me so angry!"
Da Bao's neck and face turned red from anger. He pointed at Er Bao and shouted furiously.
What a brat, saying such things to his brother, how could his authority remain?
Er Bao rolled his eyes at Da Bao and stood up to walk away, his mind constantly replaying the image of the Rubik's Cube. He then picked up a pen and started drawing on paper.
Silence fell for a moment. Da Bao noticed Er Bao had been hunched over the desk for a long time without moving. He then trotted over to Er Bao's side and peered at what Er Bao was drawing.
"Isn't this the Rubik's Cube Mother made for us? Why did you draw it?"
Er Bao's gaze remained fixed on the paper in front of him, his hand still moving the pen. He replied calmly, "I memorized it. We can make it ourselves and play with it whenever we want."
It was still better to rely on oneself. Relying on others took time.
He had foreseen long ago that Mother wouldn't let them play for so long. He had already memorized the parts of the Rubik's Cube. It was still better to do it yourself to be self-sufficient.
Da Bao couldn't help but feel admiration for Er Bao. He truly was his brother; he was amazing.
"That's great. It really has your brother's style. Good, good!"
Da Bao reached out and patted Er Bao's shoulder, praising him, and couldn't help but include himself in the praise.
"Shut up. Say fewer words!" Er Bao said with a hint of disdain. He really didn't know how Da Bao's skin could be so thick. Only Da Bao could say such shameless things.
To be able to play with the Rubik's Cube, he decided to tolerate it for now and not argue with Er Bao.
"Then you study carefully. Call me when you've figured it out and made it!"
He would then wait here with peace of mind. When Er Bao made the Rubik's Cube, the thought of being able to play with it without restraint made him feel very happy.
Er Bao rolled his eyes, filled with contempt for Da Bao. He was ready to benefit from someone else's work. If it were that good, he would just make one Rubik's Cube and keep it for himself.
"If you make one, I'll tell Mother about you secretly making Rubik's Cubes!"
After all, they were twins and had a telepathic connection. Da Bao immediately sensed Er Bao's intention and worried that Er Bao would hide the one he made for himself. He couldn't help but give Er Bao a reminder.
"I know. You'll definitely get one. Just hurry up and leave. Don't just loiter around here!"
Er Bao said reluctantly. If he wasn't worried about Da Bao betraying him, he wouldn't have made an extra one for Da Bao. It was unlucky for him to have such a brother.
"Then you do a good job. I'll go get you something good to eat."
