He gave a few extra instructions, and his words became a bit verbose.
"Yes, Elder Brother, I've noted everything."
Ling Mohan sighed with a hint of helplessness. The child had grown up and needed to venture out. He couldn't keep his child confined by his side, lest he become spoiled.
As a man of the Ling family, it was time for Ling Muzhu to venture out on his own.
When he was the same age as Ling Muzhu, he had already fought countless battles, with scars he couldn't count and experiences of near-death that he no longer remembered.
Compared to him, Ling Muzhu was incredibly fortunate. At his current age, it was time for Ling Muzhu to go out and forge his own path.
"It's good that you've noted everything. Go back and pack, and prepare everything you need to bring..."
After giving a couple more instructions, Ling Mohan took his leave, with another troublesome matter awaiting him.
...
"I'm so angry! I'm so angry!"
Feng Jin paced back and forth in the room, so furious that smoke almost billowed from her head. Her breathing was rapid, indicating she was truly enraged this time.
"Ling Mohan, that scoundrel! He's doing this deliberately to anger me, he's doing it on purpose! That scoundrel... you bastard!"
She was on the verge of cursing Ling Mohan's entire ancestry when she sat down on a chair in anger, picked up a teacup, and gulped down a full cup of water. Finally, as if to vent, she slammed the teacup onto the table, making a loud noise.
Da Bao and Er Bao, standing by, flinched at the commotion. The two little ones exchanged glances, dazed for a moment, then, with perfect understanding, simultaneously turned their heads away.
With a creak, the closed door was pushed open from the outside, and a ray of sunlight playfully squeezed in.
The mother and her two sons in the room all turned their heads in unison towards the doorway, wanting to see who had arrived.
Ling Mohan, as soon as he stepped inside, saw the mother and sons staring at him with wide eyes, and he couldn't help but frown slightly.
He walked in under their intense gazes, casually sat on a chair, poured himself a cup of clear tea, and took a sip. Just as he was about to speak, an unidentified object flew rapidly towards him.
Instinctively, he reached out to block it. Grasping it in his hand, he saw it was a pillow.
"You still have the nerve to come here? Weren't you just being arrogant and overbearing? If you're so capable, you shouldn't have come back! Go back where you came from, and don't stand here blocking my view! Looking at you makes me tired!"
Feng Jin, hands on her hips, rushed to Ling Mohan furiously, unleashing a torrent of abuse. After venting some of her pent-up anger, she felt a bit more relieved.
As the target of her anger, Ling Mohan appeared remarkably calm. He quietly waited for Feng Jin to finish speaking, then slowly shifted his gaze to her and said in a nonchalant tone, "Are you finished?"
"No... not finished!"
His demeanor left her somewhat stunned, almost making her blurt out something foolish without thinking. Fortunately, she reacted in time and quickly corrected herself.
"Then continue."
He had plenty of time now. He had all the time in the world to listen to Feng Jin's long discourse, and the patience to wait until Feng Jin was tired and could no longer speak before he would open his mouth.
"You... you..." Feng Jin's mouth opened slightly. The speech she had prepared in her mind, she didn't know where to begin.
She simply waved her hand dismissively. She would let this slide this time, considering her magnanimity, and not argue with Ling Mohan: "I'll let it go this time, but don't let there be a next time."
It was her bad luck to encounter Ling Mohan, someone who disrupted her plans, turning her carefully orchestrated scheme into nothing. Thinking about it made her feel incredibly stifled.
She really wanted to pry open Ling Mohan's head and see what was inside, whether it was a brain or paste, as he always did foolish things.
"All your things are in the study. I'll have them moved over later."
Ling Mohan said indifferently. Those things had been piled up in the study to the point of forming mountains, leaving no room to even step. Keeping them served no purpose whatsoever; it was more important to have Feng Jin move them away quickly.
"Integrity is paramount in business. It was stated earlier, and since you've won it, it belongs to you. There's no reason to take it back. I have plenty of these small items and don't care for them, so you keep them yourself."
With a wave of her hand, Feng Jin resolutely refused.
After he had ruined her establishment in front of so many people, he now wanted to appease her.
Giving a blow and then offering a sweet. Others might fall for such tactics, but she would certainly not be such a foolish person.
She would never do something so incredibly stupid. Since Ling Mohan insisted on disrupting her plans and ignoring advice, he had to bear the consequences himself.
"You truly don't want them?"
Thinking she must have misheard, Ling Mohan patiently asked again. The answer was the same as before.
"Of course. A word spoken cannot be taken back, like four horses pulling a carriage. How could I go back on my word!"
Feng Jin answered emphatically, her tone unusually firm and not to be questioned.
"Are you truly not regretting it?"
"Of course... Why are you so uncharacteristically talkative today? What kind of man is this? A true man stands tall and upright. How can he be so spineless? Truly useless!"
His incessant talking was making her head explode. Feng Jin couldn't stand it anymore and pointed at Ling Mohan, launching into a profound lecture.
She didn't want the two children to follow Ling Mohan's example and pick up such bad habits.
The man coughed lightly to conceal the expression on his face: "These items are of no use to me. Consider it a favor, and I'll have Lu Shi bring them over later."
It had initially been a spur-of-the-moment decision to tease Feng Jin, but he hadn't been able to rein himself in and had escalated the situation. If he didn't apologize quickly, it would become uncontrollable.
"Ah..." Feng Jin exclaimed in surprise. After reacting, she hurriedly refused again: "No need, I don't want your things. You keep them yourself, perhaps they might have some other use."
She dared not accept these items. If she did, who knew when Ling Mohan's mind would wander again, and he'd start acting crazy. She couldn't handle that.
"You will take them whether you want them or not. They are yours!"
