Chapter 167 Addicted to Climbing Through Windows

Cai Qing's face fell instantly. "Is that all... After being apart for so long, shouldn't the young general and young madam have a good heart-to-heart, express their longing?"

The young general was truly clueless, not knowing how to properly nurture their relationship with the young madam when given such a good opportunity.

Once the little young master or young madam was born, the young madam would have even less time to attend to the young general.

Alas, the young general was too uninspiring; she had to lend him more support.

"Cough... cough..."

Feng Jin covered her mouth and coughed. Why was this girl so direct now? Who had she learned all these absurd things from?

Yun Yun, standing nearby, was also startled. Her surprised gaze fell upon this girl who was around her own age. If it were her, she would absolutely not dare to say such things.

"The young general is busy with frontline battles; how could he be distracted by such romantic trifles? Naturally, national affairs come first."

Feng Jin didn't forget to flatter Ling Mohan, elevating his image considerably.

Cai Qing nodded, seemingly understanding but still feeling it was a pity. Why weren't such good opportunities utilized? It was truly a shame.

"Young madam, the letter has been delivered. I shall take my leave now." Lu Shi had come specifically to deliver the letter.

"Please take some things back for me." As soon as Feng Jin finished speaking, she turned and walked to a cabinet nearby. She took out several hand warmers and handed them to Lu Shi.

These hand warmers were made during her free time at home. Of course, she had only offered the suggestion; Yun Yun had handled the actual crafting.

"Please take these hand warmers back and distribute them to the soldiers. It's freezing cold, and wearing them during patrols will offer some warmth."

"Thank you, young madam. With these, our patrols will be much more comfortable."

Lu Shi was delighted with the hand warmers. They also provided much-needed warmth in his bedding at night; finally, he wouldn't have to suffer from the cold.

"Please deliver this bundle to Ling Mohan." Feng Jin took out a separate bundle and specifically instructed Lu Shi, not entirely at ease.

In reality, this bundle contained Ling Mohan's spare clothes and a hand warmer she had personally made. The reason for packing it separately was simply that her crafting skills were truly abysmal, bordering on hideous.

"Yes, young madam. I shall take my leave."

"Guard Lu, I'll see you out," Cai Qing called out loudly, quickly following Lu Shi.

Feng Jin watched their retreating backs, a motherly smile gracing her lips. Their figures were truly well-matched.

...

"Alright, Cai Qing, you've traveled for two days. Go back and rest first."

"Young madam, I'll put a warm water bag in your bedding so you can sleep warmer."

Cai Qing busied herself, unwilling to stop for a moment. She replenished the charcoal fire on the stove and went through all her routines before finally descending.

Feng Jin stretched lazily. Having someone to care for her felt truly wonderful. Ever since Cai Qing arrived, her room was always clean, dry, and warm.

And this bedding was so soft and warm. Cai Qing truly understood her, knowing she preferred soft mattresses. Before setting off, she hadn't forgotten to bring bedding from home.

This bed indeed felt much more comfortable. Perhaps it was the change of bedding and the excessive warmth, but as soon as Feng Jin touched the bed, she fell into a deep sleep.

In a short while, peaceful breathing could be heard.

In the dead of night, the window creaked open from the outside. The cold wind outside seeped in, causing the candlelight to flicker. The small woman lying on the bed unconsciously snuggled deeper into the bedding.

In the dim candlelight, the man's figure appeared somewhat blurry. He walked towards the bed with unhurried steps, and as if it were a familiar routine, he lifted the covers and lay down.

The initially warm bed was suddenly invaded by the coolness brought by the man. Feng Jin, wearing only a thin inner garment, couldn't help but shiver and snuggle further in. Immediately, she felt a pair of somewhat cool hands roaming around her waist.

Feng Jin murmured uncomfortably, slightly annoyed. She twisted her body and groggily opened her sleepy eyelids.

Vaguely sensing the man's familiar presence behind her, Feng Jin sighed helplessly. "Ling Mohan, when you come in through the window in the future, could you please close it?"

She didn't know where he learned it, but he was so keen on climbing through windows, and he never closed them afterward. All the little warmth remaining in the room dissipated, causing her to be woken by the cold every time.

"I will close it next time."

As he spoke, Ling Mohan pulled Feng Jin into his embrace, his lips, carrying a hint of coolness, pressing down.

Feng Jin couldn't help but shiver and pushed him away. "Go, close the window. If you don't close it, you can just leave the way you came!"

Ling Mohan dejectedly got up, resigned to closing the window.

With a wave of his hand, he closed the window, then quickly burrowed back into the bedding, holding Feng Jin tightly in his arms. His hands began to roam around her.

Feng Jin was truly angered. She slapped his troublesome hand with all her might. "Behave yourself."

The bedding, which had just begun to warm up, was chilled by his actions, and cold air kept seeping in.

"A day without seeing you feels like three autumns. I haven't seen you for several days, and I've missed you dearly." Ling Mohan held Feng Jin tightly, pouring out his feelings.

"Don't squeeze so hard. You're squeezing me so tight I can't breathe." Feng Jin protested, moving slightly away from him, lest his hands lose their gentle touch and harm the child in her womb.

Ling Mohan's face showed undisguised disappointment as he was pushed away. "You haven't missed me at all after these days apart?"

She was so resistant to even his touch and wanted to push him further away.

"Of course, I missed you." Feng Jin quickly said. This man was extremely petty these days. The last time, because she was busy taking care of the wounded and didn't hear him speak, he had sulked with her for an entire day.

It had left her with psychological trauma; she dared not provoke Ling Mohan again.

"Really?"

"Of course, it's true. More true than pearls."

Ling Mohan stared at Feng Jin for a long time. Only after confirming she wasn't lying did his expression improve slightly.

"Is the army alright, that you've returned at this time?"

Fearing Ling Mohan would bring up the past again, Feng Jin quickly changed the subject.

"I saw the hand warmer you sent me, and it made me miss you even more. So, I hurried back under the cover of darkness."

Upon mentioning the hand warmer, Feng Jin's expression became somewhat awkward.

Even more outrageous, Ling Mohan took out the hand warmer in front of Feng Jin. "If your letter hadn't mentioned this was a hand warmer, I really wouldn't have recognized it. It looks nothing like that pile."

"If you want it, take it. If not, give it back to me."
