Chapter 585: Chapter 323 Gaining Insight_2
As for feelings and such, as long as the man has money and treats her well, those feelings naturally arise, and she would feel happy too.
Han Shipei shook her head and said, "I don’t agree with your ’feeling theory.’ You went after him, but he didn’t accept you, which rightly shows that your feeling theory is flawed."
Hong Xiaodan also shook her head, saying, "Him not accepting me and not being trashy with me instead shows that my feelings are right. Otherwise, a different man wouldn’t act this way, which shows his nature isn’t bad."
This seems correct too. Han Shipei was curious why Chen Feng didn’t fancy Hong Xiaodan and asked, "Why doesn’t this guy fancy you? Or what about you makes him not? Does he not know your status as a white, rich, and beautiful woman?"
Hong Xiaodan rolled her eyes at her. Now she rather disliked her status as a wealthy and beautiful woman. In her view, Chen Feng not accepting her was undoubtedly a significant downside of her status.
Because she was a white, rich, and beautiful woman, Chen Feng didn’t want to date her or be trashy with her.
"He already knows my family’s background. My mom and his aunt are friends. My mom has met him."
"Ah, so your families have both met. Oh, I understand, it must be because your families know each other, making it hard for him to make a move on you."
Hong Xiaodan, of course, considered this point, but in her view, that was not the main reason. The main reason was still that Chen Feng disliked her rich and beautiful status and didn’t want to bring trouble upon himself.
She could never admit that she personally lacked attraction for Chen Feng.
"Okay, Little Dan. There are plenty of good men in the world, not to mention this guy isn’t even a good man. You’ve mentioned before that he keeps women, so there’s really no need for you to keep thinking about someone like him."
"You’re not me; you don’t understand."
Hong Xiaodan sighed softly, not wanting to continue talking and losing her appetite further. She stood up and walked towards the restroom, planning to smoke a cigarette first.
Han Shipei saw her head towards the restroom but wasn’t worried. She was just curious as she looked at Chen Feng again. He was indeed quite charming, the more she looked, the more handsome he seemed, prompting her to sneak a few more glances.
Chen Feng noticed her gaze and looked back, causing Han Shipei to quickly withdraw her gaze and turn her body straight. Soon after, Chen Feng left with Jin Xinyan.
The two hadn’t ordered many dishes before, and each dish here came in such small portions that Chen Feng could finish the six plates in a few minutes if he really wanted to eat.
Furthermore, Chen Feng hadn’t specially ordered a birthday cake for her, partly because he didn’t have this habit, and partly because he didn’t see the need to do so for her.
If anything, Chen Feng cared more about Wu Mengting and Little Rui, and their relationship was closer to Sun and Wu. Yet he never had the habit or hobby of celebrating their birthdays, so naturally, he didn’t feel the need to specially celebrate Jin Xinyan’s.
Their early departure was mainly because Hong Xiaodan caused a scene earlier, and they were worried she might do it again, feeling somewhat unsettled themselves, so leaving earlier was preferable.
After leaving the internet-famous restaurant, Chen Feng drove to the nearby Taigu Square with Jin Xinyan.
After parking the car, the two headed straight for the jewelry section on the first floor.
"Pick whatever you like, and I’ll foot the bill."
Chen Feng casually said to Jin Xinyan beside him.
The two had been together for some time, and Chen Feng hadn’t proactively offered her money every month, meaning he wasn’t exactly keeping her, nor had she asked him for anything, which made Chen Feng feel guilty, akin to getting freebies.
So, he decided to buy her a birthday gift this time as compensation.
"You lack sincerity this way. For my birthday, you should be the one picking out the gift."
Jin Xinyan slightly shook his arm, sounding playful.
"Fine, I’ll get you a watch - a ladies’ watch. Do you like that?"
"Anything you pick, I like."
"Alright, I’ll take you to buy a watch."
Nice watches were far more expensive than jewelry. Chen Feng treated her so well mainly because he’d taken her virginity before, and it felt like he had been getting something for nothing the whole time.
Besides, he wasn’t short on money, so gifting her a watch as a birthday present shouldn’t matter if it’s a bit expensive.
About an hour later, Chen Feng chose a ladies’ watch worth 280,000, which finally made Jin Xinyan satisfied.
It wasn’t that Chen Feng picked cheap watches previously; rather, she simply didn’t like them. She had rejected a watch worth over 300,000 earlier, saying it was too big.
Afterward, Chen Feng took her to tour three luxury watch shops, choosing at least twenty watches before she finally picked one she liked.
During this roughly one-hour timeframe, Chen Feng certainly felt uneasy. He hadn’t been so patient and attentive even with his ex-wife. If he’d known Jin Xinyan was so picky, he wouldn’t have agreed to personally pick out a gift for her.
As Chen Feng finished the payment, Jin Xinyan immediately wore the watch on her wrist. Meanwhile, Han Shipei happened to witness the entire process from a distance.
A few minutes earlier, she had parted ways with an upset Hong Xiaodan and hurried to contact a backup who had been pursuing her recently to shop at the mall. Her plan for the day was to spend five or six thousand to buy a set of face masks advertised by Korean celebrities, and her backup guy number two was, of course, the one footing the bill.
Coincidentally, she saw Chen Feng and Jin Xinyan browsing the luxury watch store, and not long afterwards, Chen Feng paid to buy the watch for that woman.
Could the watches from that luxury watch store be cheap? Certainly not.
Once Chen Feng and that woman left, she grew very curious and brought the shaky-looking backup guy into the watch store.
Han Shipei remained calm as she entered that luxury watch store and directly told the salesperson, "I saw that woman’s watch earlier and really liked it too; could you take it out for me to try on?"
The salesperson didn’t doubt her and promptly responded, "Alright, ma’am. This way, please."
Before long, Han Shipei was led to the glass cabinet, where she watched the salesperson retrieve a delicate ladies’ watch.
Han Shipei looked closely and saw that the watch’s price tag was 280,000 yuan.
"Damn!" Han Shipei saw the price tag and couldn’t help but spit this abrupt word out like a man.
Having hooked rich guys for so many years, never did someone spend over 20,000 on her in one go; the most was a bit over 10,000 each time, but it was on installments, meant to buy her the then-latest iPhone as a birthday gift.
She was quite touched at the time, and reciprocated generously by spending the night with him.
That guy was the longest she ever dated, about one year in total, and eventually she broke up when she couldn’t squeeze any more money out of him.
She originally thought she was really good at being a gold digger, but compared to that woman she’d just seen, she was really far behind.
She couldn’t help but feel both envious and jealous.
