Chapter 469: Chapter 371: No Way Out
Early in the morning, with the dawn mist still lingering in every corner of the city, there were already early risers running.
Zhou Yun, with her hair tied in a ponytail and wearing headphones, ran along a route she had figured out days before, arriving at the entrance of a breakfast shop and stopping.
At this time, the sky was still dark, a murky grey.
The cold air made the city look as though it was still deep in slumber.
Even the streetlights seemed half asleep, bleary-eyed.
Zhou Yun bought breakfast and leisurely walked back, breathing heavily. Just as she entered, Song Chi came out of the house.
"It’s so cold, why go running outside? Why not just run in the gym?" Song Chi asked.
Zhou Yun placed the breakfast on the dining table and said, "I prefer breathing the natural air."
Song Chi smiled and said, "I’m telling you, the air is usually the most polluted at this time."
"It’s fine, I’ve chosen a running route after days of searching, and finally found one that perfectly avoids the roads," Zhou Yun said, her face red and panting.
Song Chi’s gaze inadvertently drifted to Zhou Yun’s chest.
Zhou Yun noticed Song Chi’s gaze and directly rolled her eyes at him.
"Go brush your teeth."
Song Chi swallowed, shrugged his shoulders obediently, and went away.
Zhou Yun poured herself a glass of water and murmured as she drank.
After brushing his teeth, Song Chi came out and asked, "Do you have work this morning?"
"I’ll read the script at home this morning," Zhou Yun said, "I have a shoot in the afternoon."
Song Chi nodded and said, "I have a video conference this morning."
"You go ahead with your work, I’m going to take a shower," Zhou Yun said, "You start eating, I bought meat pies and soy milk."
When Zhou Yun came out after the shower, Song Chi was already dressed and sitting at the table.
White shirt, black trousers, his hair neatly combed, holding a cup of soy milk like a model in a soy milk advertisement.
Zhou Yun walked over and sat opposite him, saying, "Aren’t you just having a video conference this morning? Why dress so formally?"
"It’s not an internal company video conference," Song Chi smiled lightly, "I need to be formal. Shall I use the study later?"
"Yes, go ahead, I’ll read the script on the Balcony," said Zhou Yun. "I’m hungry. I need to eat two meat pies this morning."
Zhou Yun had a look of utter desolation.
"I used to want to eat them but couldn’t overeat to maintain my figure, now I need to gain some weight and can’t eat," she pouted, "Why are people so contradictory?"
Song Chi carefully studied Zhou Yun and said, "Your frame is small; it’s naturally a bit harder for you to put on weight compared to the average person."
Zhou Yun, looking at Song Chi’s thin face that seemed ready to play a vampire with just a layer of makeup, felt a hint of jealousy and asked, "Have you ever had to gain weight for a role?"
"Yes, but that movie had a mediocre response when it was released, and not many people remember it," Song Chi said, "But I had two months to prepare at that time."
"I only have a dozen days left, what if I can’t gain weight?" Zhou Yun worried, "Xue Qin’s requirements are very strict, she might criticize me again for not being professional or dedicated enough to sacrifice for the role."
"What kind of person is Xue Qin exactly?" Song Chi asked curiously, "From what you’ve described before, it seems like she is difficult, but you still care about her opinion a lot."
"She’s the director, of course I care about her opinion," Zhou Yun pouted, "And, although her temper is indeed bad, she’s not too terrible. You’ve read the script she wrote. Didn’t you also say that if the main character was male, you’d want to play him?"
Song Chi laughed.
"What are you laughing about?"
"Haven’t you noticed? While you complain about her, the moment I say something bad about her, you start defending her," Song Chi said.
Zhou Yun instinctively wanted to deny this, but the words stopped at her lips.
She couldn’t deceive herself.
Song Chi was right.
Song Chi said, "It seems there are aspects of her you admire."
"Sigh, you’re right," Zhou Yun nodded, "Honestly, she is really talented."
Song Chi nodded, "That’s enough. Many directors are not very patient, but that doesn’t stop them from making great films. It’s Xue Qin’s first time as a director, it’s understandable that she’s nervous, has high demands, and wants everything to meet the highest standards."
