No Spring in Song

Chapter 495: Chapter 384: An Unexpected Turn

Before Song Chi left, he made one more trip to Xue Qin’s place.

But Xue Qin wasn’t there, and the house was locked.

"Looks like I’ll have to come next time," Song Chi chuckled, "Let’s go."

Zhou Yun nodded and saw Song Chi off.

She waved him off as he got into the car.

Cao Jun drove him to the airport.

From out of nowhere, Zheng Xiaojue suddenly appeared behind Zhou Yun, asking, "Sister Xiao Yun, has Brother Chi left?"

"Mhm," Zhou Yun nodded.

"I just heard from people in the crew that tomorrow’s shoot can’t go ahead," Zheng Xiaojue whispered into Zhou Yun’s ear.

"Why?" Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

"They said the director isn’t happy with the set and wants to redo the whole thing."

"Oh?"

In the evening, Zhou Yun met Shi Luoqi.

Upon seeing her, Shi Luoqi greeted her warmly.

"Xiao Yun, I was looking for you, and here you are."

Zhou Yun smiled, "Sister Luo Qi, I’m just wandering around."

"Come on, let’s have dinner together," Shi Luoqi said, "I’ll take you out."

"You don’t have to be so formal, Sister Luo Qi," Zhou Yun said affectionately, "But I was just getting hungry. What delicious food are you going to treat me to?"

"I know a little restaurant around here that specializes in beef dishes, do you like beef?"

"I do," Zhou Yun’s eyes lit up.

Because Xue Qin said she needed to put on weight, Zhou Yun had been living an almost magical Life lately where she could eat whatever she wanted. Zhou Yun loved beef, especially spicy beef, and these days she always had spicy beef jerky on hand as a snack.

Hearing Zhou Yun say she loved it, Shi Luoqi decided they should go to the beef specialty restaurant.

To Zhou Yun’s surprise, the dinner was just between the two of them.

Zhou Yun initially thought that, at least, Xue Qin would be there.

"Isn’t the director coming?" Zhou Yun asked.

"Oh, she’s got something to take care of, there are some issues with the set, so she’s overseeing it personally," Shi Luoqi explained, "Initially, you were supposed to join the crew today, so we ought to have had a meal together."

"Ah, it’s okay, I didn’t mean that. I was just curious about what the director was doing. I went to see her this afternoon and just happened to catch her in the middle of getting angry, so I didn’t enter."

"She got angry in the afternoon? Then it’s probably about the set," Shi Luoqi said, "There’s been a minor issue with the crew. The team we had initially agreed upon to handle the set had a last-minute conflict and couldn’t come, so we had to find another team to take over on short notice. Currently, it’s a period of adjustment. Of course, it’s not a big problem, just some issues with the details."

Zhou Yun had already heard about this from Zheng Xiaojue.

"Then... Can we start shooting as normal tomorrow?" Zhou Yun inquired.

"It depends on the progress tonight," Shi Luoqi said, "If things are slow, we might have to wait a bit longer, no worries. If we’re delayed on the set, we can have a small meeting tomorrow morning. You and Zhang Mo can go over the script. It’s your first time collaborating, right?"

"Mhm," Zhou Yun nodded.

"He’s actually quite diligent, didn’t really get into TV or film after graduation, has been doing stage dramas," Shi Luoqi smiled, "I was actually referred to him by a friend, and you saw the audition; he really is good."

"Right," Zhou Yun asked, "But why has he been reluctant to do TV or film?"

It’s not that Zhou Yun looks down on stage drama, but in the current market, actors mainly focus on TV and film.

Due to its own format, the reach of stage drama is too limited.

Shi Luoqi explained, "He says he hasn’t found the right role or script on the side of TV or film and would rather not do them."

"He can’t find the right role with his looks and acting skills?" Zhou Yun asked, surprised.

Shi Luoqi sighed, "It’s unavoidable; he’s not famous and hasn’t signed with a major company, so he probably can’t land the good roles."

The food was served.

"The series Heart Inquiry that you recently starred in, I’m following it; you acted really well," Shi Luoqi praised, "I don’t usually like watching domestic TV series, but that one is actually pretty good."

"Do you like it?"

"I quite like it. It’s really popular in the country now, isn’t it? My team mentioned it to me," Shi Luoqi said smilingly, "They said you performed well in it, that’s why I started watching. Your acting is completely different from that in Life."

"Thank you, Sister Luo Qi."

"TV series and movies are completely different fields, but you manage to excel in both effortlessly; you truly have talent," Shi Luoqi said, "The most I’ve heard about you in the country is that you’re talented."
