Chapter 253: Chapter 253 Scallion Shoots Chapter 253: Chapter 253 Scallion Shoots “Miss Mo, how many garlic sprouts do you have?”
At first, Shopkeeper Fan intended to negotiate with Big Bull; after all, men were highly esteemed over women in Moli Country, but as soon as he realized that, despite his immense strength, Big Bull seemed a bit unsophisticated during discussions, he had to give up.
“We have plenty, certainly enough to supply your restaurant for a while.” Xuexue breathed a sigh of relief; the garlic sprouts issue had finally been resolved.
“That’s good, that’s very good.” Shopkeeper Fan nodded repeatedly.
“Shopkeeper Fan, about the price…” Xuexue looked at him with a questioning gaze.
There’s an old saying that even close brothers should settle their accounts clearly. They were business partners, after all, and it was better to clarify financial matters to avoid future disputes, which would be bad for everyone.
Shopkeeper Fan, who was accustomed to doing business, certainly understood this. After pondering for a moment, he said, “Ten copper coins per jin, Miss, what do you think?”
Since she started growing garlic sprouts, Xuexue paid close attention to the prices of vegetables on the market. The current going rate was one copper coin per jin, maybe two for better quality. Hearing Shopkeeper Fan’s offer, she realized he had given a high price because garlic sprouts were off-season, so she nodded her agreement.
When it was time to sign the contract, Shopkeeper Fan had one condition, which was to specify that the garlic sprouts could only be sold to Xiaohe Restaurant and not to be resold to other restaurants.
Xuexue, thinking that selling the garlic sprouts was only a matter of one or two months, agreed without hesitation and briskly stamped her fingerprint onto the contract.
Of course, they had already agreed that the payment for the flavored loaches would be settled after each delivery. Shopkeeper Fan, in good spirits, weighed the garlic sprouts that Xuexue had brought in a basket, calculated the amount, and quickly paid them, including the silver for the loaches.
After agreeing to deliver more garlic sprouts in a couple of days, Big Bull and Xuexue left the restaurant,
“My lady, we’re being followed,” Big Bull murmured as they walked down the street, noticing several sneaky figures behind them.
Xuexue glanced sideways using her peripheral vision and indeed, there were a few people following them, neither too close nor too far away.
“It might be Master Zhang’s men,” Xuexue whispered. After all, in the town, they had only offended two Plague Gods: Master Zhang and Chef Ding.
“Do you want me to go and give them a beating?” Big Bull whispered back.
“Forget it. Let them follow if they want. Don’t bother with them unless they trouble us.”
As they were discussing, five or six servants rushed up and surrounded Xuexue, Big Bull, and Tuantuan.
“What’s this? Looking for a fight?” Big Bull stepped in front of Xuexue, protecting her, and faced the men with a fighting stance.
The group quickly stepped back at the sight, joking aside. The men Big Bull had injured a few days before were still lying in bed, writhing in pain. They needed to be carried even to visit the outhouse.
“Hero, please don’t misunderstand. We are employees of the Great Harmony Restaurant, sent by the Shopkeeper to invite the two noble guests to join us at Dahe Restaurant,” one of the employees said with hands clasped.
“We do not know your Shopkeeper and have no reason to go,” Xuexue firmly refused, having no good feelings towards the Dahe Restaurant’s shopkeeper. They hadn’t even seen his face, and yet he had sent a dozen employees to chase after her twice throughout the town.
“Our Shopkeeper says that if you two nobles deign to grace Dahe Restaurant with your presence, then the matter with Chef Ding and Master Zhang will be wiped clean, and they will no longer trouble you in the future.”
Xuexue scoffed, “If you’re not afraid of getting hurt, feel free to trouble us. It doesn’t matter to me.”
When their soft approach failed, they didn’t dare to use force; neither did they have the courage. The employees looked at each other, not daring to return for fear of the Shopkeeper’s reprimand. So, they simply followed Big Bull and Xuexue from a distance.
