Chapter 626 The End of Life

Yu Daohan felt the urge to feed, and his eyelids twitched.

This thing was looking less and less like anything proper.

Had He Xin tattooed something sinister on him?

Arriving at the encirclement, Yu Daohan saw wounded soldiers being constantly sent into the tents.

The soldier driving the car glanced at the tragic scene and instinctively looked towards the inside of the encirclement.

What kind of monsters were in there?

Yu Daohan patted his shoulder and said, "Don't think about what's inside. Your mission is complete, you should leave quickly."

The soldier glanced at Yu Daohan beside him, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

This kid looked no older than twenty, so why was he so unfazed by such a gruesome sight, his expression blank?

It was as if he was accustomed to it.

Yu Daohan got out of the car, and the soldier drove away.

Yu Daohan was about to look for acquaintances or disciples from his own sect.

Suddenly, two people carrying a stretcher ran out from the encirclement. The man in front shouted, "Quick, someone help! We have a wounded soldier here, quickly!"

Yu Daohan curiously took a look. The disciple on the stretcher had his entire left arm missing, a bloody and gruesome sight.

Yu Daohan frowned. When he clearly saw the clothes the disciple was wearing, his face changed drastically.

These were the clothes worn by disciples of his own sect!

The two men carried the stretcher into the tent, and Yu Daohan followed closely behind.

As they entered the tent, the sounds of painful groans sent a shock through the heart.

Yu Daohan looked at these disciples from various sects, all around his age, and felt a deep sense of unease.

These were disciples called to support from their sects, those with average talent and strength.

In simpler terms, they were cannon fodder sent by the sects, with no expectation of them returning alive.

For them, this might be the final stop of their lives.

Yu Daohan walked to the back. The disciple who had just been brought in had already fainted, his face pale, his life uncertain.

Yu Daohan approached the unconscious disciple. Two people beside him were bandaging his wound.

One of the men, seeing Yu Daohan approach, was first startled, then his face lit up with surprise, "Yu... Master Yu."

The others nearby also called out.

"Master Yu!"

Yu Daohan nodded and looked at the unconscious disciple, "Will he survive?"

The man shook his head, "I don't know. The bleeding has stopped. It depends on him now. But he'll only be able to use one hand from now on."

Yu Daohan remained silent, filled with self-reproach.

This was all his fault!

Yu Daohan looked at the injured soldiers filling the tent and asked, "Are the casualties this severe?"

The man nodded, speaking with helplessness, "These are considered the lucky ones. At least they can keep their lives. Most of them died on the spot, their bodies not even recovered."

Yu Daohan walked out of the tent in silence.

He wondered how many disciples from his sect had already perished.

The main camp was set up in a wide open space, facilitating the movement of vehicles.

Yu Daohan looked at the disciples from various sects coming and going, searching for disciples from his own sect.

"Sect Leader?"

A surprised voice sounded from not far away.

Yu Daohan turned his head and saw a young man, about seventeen years old, walking towards him.

The youth approached and respectfully bowed, "This disciple Liu Jing greets the Sect Leader."

Yu Daohan looked at the youth, who was younger than him, and frowned, "How old are you?"

Liu Jing's somewhat immature face broke into a smile. He scratched the back of his head, a little embarrassed, "I'm seventeen this year."

"Seventeen?" Yu Daohan was a little confused, "How long have you been in the Yan Huo Sect?"

Perhaps due to nervousness at seeing the Sect Leader, Liu Jing's speech became noticeably hesitant, "Half... half a year."

Yu Daohan looked at Liu Jing, full of bewilderment, "You're so young, why did the sect send you here?"

Liu Jing's face was filled with embarrassment, "I volunteered to come."

"Why?" Yu Daohan looked at Liu Jing, utterly perplexed.

Didn't this kid know that the chances of survival for disciples sent to support were slim?

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it was a near-death experience.

Liu Jing's eyes were firm, and he spoke with righteous indignation, "We learn magic precisely for the sake of all living beings. Although my strength is weak, I still want to contribute."

Yu Daohan looked at Liu Jing and shook his head helplessly, not blaming him.

He was right. The essence of learning magic was to vanquish demons and monsters. But how many people now truly acted from their hearts to subdue evil and benefit the populace?

This included himself.

"By the way, why haven't we seen any disciples from our sect?" Yu Daohan inquired.

Liu Jing explained, "Although this is the main camp, it's merely a place to receive the wounded from various sects. The disciples of other sects have been arranged to station themselves around the encirclement."

Yu Daohan nodded and looked at Liu Jing, who had come to the main camp, "Why aren't you with your fellow disciples? What are you doing here?"

Liu Jing chuckled sheepishly, a little embarrassed, "My strength isn't enough. Elder Zhou didn't allow me into the encirclement. My daily task is to count the wounded and deceased fellow disciples."

Yu Daohan nodded. This arrangement was good.

At least it ensured the boy wouldn't sacrifice himself in vain.

Yu Daohan's gaze became serious as he looked at Liu Jing, advising him, "Listen, having a passionate and chivalrous heart is a good thing, but you can't let your passion cloud your judgment. At times like these, preserving your own life is the most important thing."

Liu Jing looked at his Sect Leader's serious expression and obediently nodded, "I understand, Sect Leader."

Seeing Liu Jing agree, Yu Daohan nodded and continued to ask, "How many disciples have been sacrificed these past few days?"

Liu Jing replied, "Three senior brothers have been sacrificed, and their bodies haven't been recovered yet. Two other senior brothers, one lost an arm and the other suffered a severe chest wound and hasn't woken up yet."

Yu Daohan nodded and remained silent.

This was already much better than he had expected.

"Oh right, let me take you to our camp first, Sect Leader." Liu Jing's face lit up with a smile as he spoke.

Yu Daohan nodded. Liu Jing walked over to the side and mounted the small off-road motorcycle that Zhou Jingmin had brought back for him from the encirclement.

Yu Daohan was also somewhat surprised by the off-road motorcycle. He kicked off and sat on it.

Liu Jing chuckled, "Hold on tight, Sect Leader. I'm going to start racing."

Before Yu Daohan could react, Liu Jing twisted the throttle. The exhaust pipe roared, and the motorcycle sped away.

Yu Daohan was terrified, his hands gripping the sides of the motorcycle tightly.

It was an off-road motorcycle, and it had a lot of power.

The wind blew so hard that Yu Daohan couldn't even open his eyes, cursing inwardly.

This kid was just like that crazy girl Ma Dan Na.

He cared about speed more than his life!

Liu Jing sped towards the camp where the Yan Huo Sect was located.

Outside a nursing home in the suburbs, Zhou Jingmin was about to walk back into the facility when he heard the roar of an exhaust pipe.
