Chapter 500 Ghost Delivering Food

It was half past two in the morning.

Yu Daochen, having just finished his cultivation and preparing to sleep, suddenly changed his expression and looked towards the door.

"Knock, knock, knock."

The door was knocked upon, and a woman's voice came through, "Handsome, time to eat."

Yu Daochen frowned. Who would deliver food at this late hour? Only ghosts delivered food.

Yu Daochen instinctively drew the Kanglong Rod from his waist and walked towards the door.

Reaching the door, Yu Daochen grabbed the doorknob with one hand and pulled it open forcefully, while the other hand, gripping the Kanglong Rod, swung it out fiercely.

The Kanglong Rod slashed through the air, but found nothing.

Yu Daochen frowned, his gaze warily scanning both sides of the corridor. Not even a ghost shadow was in sight. He looked down and discovered a bowl of rice, with a red chopstick stuck in it, had been placed at his feet at some point.

"Is this ghost delivery?" Yu Daochen's nerves tensed. He picked up the bowl from the ground, carried it into his room, dumped it into the trash, then placed the bowl upside down at the doorstep and closed the door, ignoring it.

Ghost delivery also had another name: farewell meal, just like the last meal given to condemned prisoners before their execution.

Whether you ate it or not, as long as you brought the bowl into your room, the ghost delivering the meal would come to retrieve the bowl in the middle of the night and casually take your life.

Ghosts of this kind were not particularly powerful, but they were exceptionally troublesome to deal with. They were the type that, once they latched onto you, would bring endless annoyance.

The only way was to directly dump the food and place the bowl upside down at the doorstep. When the ghost came to retrieve the bowl, she naturally wouldn't be able to enter.

After about five or six minutes, a sound suddenly came from outside the door.

The woman's voice sounded again, "Open the door, you ate the food."

Yu Daochen pretended not to hear, lying on the bed with his eyes closed, meditating.

"Little brother, open the door, open the door, you ate the food." The woman's voice became more urgent, and the door was knocked upon with a bang, bang, bang.

Yu Daochen yawned. Annoyed, he couldn't sleep, so he simply sat cross-legged and began to cultivate.

Since the bowl wasn't inside, the ghost couldn't get in. As long as you didn't open the door, everything would be fine.

"Wuwuwu..." The woman outside the door began to cry.

The door vibrated as it was kicked, feeling as if it could be broken open at any moment.

After a while, the woman outside stopped crying and changed her tone, shouting, "Fire! Fire! Come and help put out the fire!"

A stream of white smoke began to seep in from under the door, as if a fire had truly broken out outside.

No!

Yu Daochen suddenly realized the problem. The smoke drifting in was not an illusion.

More and more white smoke poured in from the crack under the door.

Yu Daochen hesitated for a moment, drew the Kanglong Rod from his waist, and walked towards the door. Staying in the room any longer would eventually lead to him being choked to death by the smoke.

The moment Yu Daochen opened the door and stepped out, the corridor on both sides quickly darkened, as if he were sealed in a box with no visibility.

"Little brother, you've finally come out!" A chilling voice sounded from behind him.

Yu Daochen turned around sharply, and at the same time, the Kanglong Rod in his hand swung out, but it missed.

"Damn it, you're quite fast at escaping," Yu Daochen cursed under his breath, warily observing his surroundings.

"Little brother, guess where I am."

The woman's voice echoed around him.

Yu Daochen closed his eyes, carefully discerning the direction, and then suddenly darted forward, swinging the Kanglong Rod in his hand.

A woman's scream sounded ahead.

"Got you!" Yu Daochen's lips curved upwards. Just as he was about to swing the Kanglong Rod again, a yellow light erupted from beneath his feet. He looked down and realized he had stepped on a talisman.

"Soul Locking Talisman!"

Yu Daochen cried out inwardly that it was bad. He tried to lift his foot, but it was too late. He felt a wave of dizziness, and his soul began to separate rapidly from his body.

Just then, the Exorcism Stone on his chest emitted a dazzling purple light, and the feeling of dizziness immediately disappeared.

Yu Daochen felt fortunate. It was a good thing he was wearing the Exorcism Stone, otherwise, he would have almost fallen into this person's trap.

It seemed they had deliberately set a trap for him.

The moment Yu Daochen stabilized himself, a sharp dagger had already stabbed towards him.

Seeing the main culprit arrive, Yu Daochen grinned. It was a good opportunity to vent the anger that had been building up inside him.

As he moved, Yu Daochen swung the Kanglong Rod, deflecting the attacking dagger, and simultaneously delivered a direct elbow strike to the chest.

Yu Daochen's movements were extremely fast. By the time the figure reacted, the elbow strike had already landed squarely on its face.

The figure was sent flying backward, dropping the dagger as well.

The figure leaped into the air, bracing itself with one hand on the ground to stabilize its form. Blood flowed from its nose and mouth, and its entire face burned with pain. It cursed inwardly.

"Damn it, what did this guy eat to grow so strong? How can he hit so hard!"

Yu Daochen couldn't let this opportunity pass. He intended to strike while the iron was hot.

With his vengeful nature, if he let this person go, his surname Yu would be written backward.

While the figure was still in shock, Yu Daochen had already swung the Kanglong Rod and attacked.

The figure dodged the incoming Kanglong Rod by turning sideways, but Yu Daochen's follow-up punch was unavoidable.

Bang!

Yu Daochen's fist, the size of a sandbag, landed squarely on its face.

The figure stumbled backward, its nose bridge dislocated by the punch. Blood spurted from its mouth, and it regretted its actions immensely.

Damn it, if I had known, I wouldn't have shown off and provoked this demon.
