Chapter 125: Chapter 125 - Resting and Message from SSS-rank teacher?
Logan made his way over to Arnar and reached out a hand.
’’Come on,’’ he said, a faint smile on his face. ’’Let’s get going.’’
Arnar smiled, lying on the ground with his battle axe beside him.
’’Colin,’’ he said, grabbing Logan’s hand.
Around them, other mercenaries helped the wounded, lifting bodies or supporting limping comrades toward the barrier.
’’Good to see you alive,’’ Arnar said with a grin, standing beside him. ’’You surprised the hell out of me when you charged through those fishmen.’’
’’Didn’t think I’d make it either,’’ Logan said, shaking his head.
Both too exhausted to speak, they simply nodded, happy for their survival.
Logan and Arnar followed after their group, heading straight into the barrier.
Once inside, they were met by several military trucks and medical vans.
People ran around everywhere, the medical teams quickly taking care of the severely injured while the military hunters stepped through the borders.
’’Sir, please follow me,’’ a girl said, taking hold of Logan’s remaining arm. ’’We need to get this arm looked at.’’
Logan shook himself free. ’’There’s no need,’’ he said politely.
’’But...’’ The girl looked confused at him, her eyes darting between Logan’s face and his bloody stump.
Arnar raised an eyebrow as he stared at him. ’’Are you sure?’’ he asked, weirdly.
Logan simply nodded, a small smile on his face.
The girl hesitated for another second before quickly moving on to the next injured hunter.
’’You don’t need to be worried about money,’’ Arnar said, nudging him. ’’All treatment for incidents like this falls on the country.’’
’’This happened before?’’ Logan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Now that he thought about it, none of the mercenaries seemed upset with the country after the barrier turned solid.
’’Last time an S-rank showed up, pretty much the exact same happened,’’ Arnar nodded. ’’Hell, they even gave immense bonuses for families of lost ones.’’
Logan nodded slowly, digesting the information with his tired mind.
As they continued walking, Arnar’s face suddenly lit up.
In the distance stood several members of his original party. Some were injured, one even missing a large chunk of his leg, but they were alive.
’’I need to get some sleep, so I’ll see you later,’’ Logan said, splitting up from Arnar.
Arnar turned around, smiling. ’’Alright, we’ll be going for beers again soon enough.’’
Exhausted, Logan dragged his body through the streets.
The streets were empty, with civilians still hiding in the underground bunkers while the battle outside continued.
But none of that mattered to Logan right now.
Sleep was all he could think about.
As he reached his hotel room, he threw himself on his bed without even taking his clothes off.
It didn’t even take one second before he fell into a deep sleep.
Time slipped by quietly while Logan slept, the fight replaying behind closed eyes.
Suddenly, Logan felt someone poke his body.
He opened his eyes immediately, grabbing hold of whoever had touched him.
A shout echoed through the room before he heard a loud thud.
Looking at the threat, Logan realized something was wrong.
’’What is this?’’ he mumbled, still holding someone’s arm.
The owner of the arm, a brown-haired teenage girl in hotel staff uniform, convulsed on the ground beside his bed.
’Why would a hotel staff member enter my room without knocking?’ he thought, narrowing his eyes.
Activating his mana sight, he only noticed a faint trace of mana inside the girl’s body.
Only then did Logan relax and let go of her arm.
Though, the question had not left his mind.
’Now, how do I deal with this?’
Making sure there were no other threats in the room, Logan pressed the emergency call button on the side of his bed.
It didn’t take long before his door swung open and a cleaning lady Logan recognized stepped in.
She screamed and stumbled back from the doorway, her expression twisting from serious to terrified as her eyes locked on the scene inside.
Other staff members and visitors stepped out into the hallway, glancing at the commotion going on.
Murmurs echoed through the hallway, most coming from mercenaries who were annoyed at their disturbed sleep.
Logan turned slightly, his eyes heavy and his whole body aching with stiffness.
The woman at the door stared at him in horror, her eyes darting between the convulsing girl and Logan’s face.
Only then did he glance down at himself.
His body was still covered in dried blood, with bits of bone and brain matter clinging to the gaps in his armor.
And of course, the stump where his arm had been.
’No wonder they’re scared,’
Logan thought, scratching his head. ’I look like a walking corpse.’He let out a sigh, his eyes switching to several men in hotel security uniforms that walked through the door.
One of them approached him, while the others took care of the girl who’d stopped convulsing.
’’Sir,’’ the man started, polite but serious. ’’You were unresponsive for three days.’’
’’Our apologies, but we were forced to do a welfare check on you.’’
Logan looked at him, confused.
’Three days?’
Shaking his head, Logan quickly apologized for the circumstances as the girl was carried out of his room.
After the hotel staff closed his door once again, Logan stood up from his bed.
As he stretched, loud cracks echoed through his room.
’Ugh,’ he thought, cracking his neck next. ’That feels better.’
He glanced at the date on his hologram. Three days really had passed.
"...Guess I needed it," he muttered.
Just as he was about to move, the foul stench coming from his body hit him.
’’I need to take a shower before I do anything else,’’ he mumbled, wanting to throw up.
It didn’t take long before Logan had fully cleaned himself and had even pushed his clothes into a special washing machine.
’While that’s going on, let’s check my messages,’ he thought, pulling up the hologram from his watch.
He had several missed messages, many from Silas, Edric, and his friends. But one name really surprised him. )
’Allen Foster?’ Logan thought, raising an eyebrow.
What would an SSS-rank teacher have to do with him while he’s suspended?
