Chapter 33 BOSS Appears: The Guardian of Order
Nie Yan was shocked. He understood what this meant. This was a closed-off area. How could the system let him obtain the Chapter of Courage so easily!
Logically speaking, there should be a guardian for the Chapter of Order, namely the Guardian of Order. Why hadn't it appeared yet?
Nie Yan had only caught a glimpse of the Guardian of Order in a video, but its powerful image was deeply imprinted in his mind.
While he was pondering, the earth began to tremble violently. The ground cracked rapidly, as if something was about to emerge from the depths. Nie Yan looked towards the pool he had come from, only to see it blocked by rocks.
*I can't stay here. I need to run!* He looked around, but there was no way out. He could only run up the mountain!
Nie Yan found a gentle slope and began to climb, moving nimbly.
Many trees grew horizontally from the cliff face, giving Nie Yan plenty of handholds.
Suddenly, Nie Yan remembered something. That's right, the Ring of the Silk Weaver! He hadn't had a chance to appraise this ring. Now that he had Super Appraisal, appraising it wouldn't be a problem. He took out the Ring of the Silk Weaver and used Appraisal.
Ring of the Silk Weaver (Bronze): Special Item
Stats: Can shoot a strand of spider silk that adheres to an object. The silk has a maximum length of 5 yards and can withstand a maximum pull of 200 pounds. The skill has a 20-second cooldown.
Weight: 1 pound
Restriction: Can be used by all factions.
He equipped the Ring of the Silk Weaver. He still wanted to appraise the Assassin's Handbook, but a powerful heat wave erupted from the center of the valley, shattering the ground into countless pieces. Boulders were sent flying, trees were uprooted and incinerated, creating a scene of destruction.
The center of the valley was like a terrifying volcano, devouring everything it touched.
A sleeping giant awoke. It came from the depths of the earth, a servant of the gods, possessing the power of divine judgment.
"Not much time left." Nie Yan didn't have time to appraise the Assassin's Handbook. He climbed upwards, the scorching heat making him slip.
He steadied himself on a tree and looked up. The next handhold was about two yards away. He jumped, reaching out and grabbing the protruding rock, then pulled himself up further.
A giant head appeared in the crack in the valley, followed by its body and torso.
It was a giant six yards tall, with wings covered in black scales, holding a three-yard-long crystal scepter, and burning with intense flames. The moment it appeared, a scorching whirlwind swept through the valley.
Nie Yan's Super Appraisal allowed him to see the giant's stats.
Guardian of Order (Low Intelligence): Level 100 Elite, HP 200000/200000
"sougbjsoidgsdguosnghu." The giant's deep voice echoed in the distance. (Draconic language: Darkness and light alternate. I obey the will of the gods, guarding order. If any villain tries to steal the Chapter of Order, they will receive divine judgment.)
Legend had it that the Guardians of Order were creatures born from the union of dragons and giants. They were exiled to the desolate wilderness of time, and then received the baptism of the gods. Entrusted by the gods, they guarded the Chapters of Order that had been lost to the world.
The Guardian of Order looked around, then looked up and saw Nie Yan climbing towards the top of the mountain. It flapped its wings, rapidly gaining altitude.
"sdgjgo!" (Draconic language magic: Blackfire Storm!)
A scorching black cloud quickly gathered in the sky, and fireballs rained down on Nie Yan's location. With a thunderous roar, the fireballs exploded, scattering sparks and setting everything ablaze.
In Link Town, not far from the Rein Hills, the ground shook violently, making the players gathered there uneasy.
"What's going on?"
"Look at the mountain over there!"
A scorching black cloud enveloped the mountaintop. Within the black cloud, a giant figure stood suspended in the air, like a destroyer from hell.
Link Town Warning: A Draconic creature has appeared in the south of the town. Uninvolved players, please leave.
After a while, rays of white light flashed from the teleportation array. A large team of fully armed npC guards in shining silver metal armor appeared. They wore the insignia of the Holy Crusaders and numbered several hundred. They quickly assembled in the town square.
In the Greenland Empire, two of the most powerful armies were active. One belonged to the Greenland Empire's Elder Council and was called the Holy Crusaders. It consisted of about five hundred thousand soldiers, and its supreme commander was the Archmage Jobiya the Great. They were responsible for defending the Greenland Empire. The other was the Holy Church's Protectorate, called the Holy Temple Guard. It was smaller, with only about fifty thousand soldiers, but its duty was solely to protect the Holy Church and guard Greenland's faith.
These hundred-plus soldiers belonged to the Holy Crusaders and were here to protect Link Town.
"So it's a Draconic creature!"
The players looked at the Guardian of Order in the sky and discussed it amongst themselves.
The Dragon race was a distant and powerful existence. In the Dark Ages (-2678~230), they had established a powerful empire on this continent, enslaving all races. Later, their rule was overthrown by the combined forces of giants, humans, elves, orcs, and dwarves. To avoid the dragons' revenge, they slaughtered dragons everywhere. The Dragon race never recovered its former glory. However, many dragons were still scattered throughout the continent.
They regarded the Guardian of Order as a dragon. In fact, the Guardian of Order differed only slightly from dragons in appearance.
Some players' minds began to race. Since a dragon had appeared and a large number of npC troops had arrived, the dragon and the npCs were bound to fight. They might be able to profit from it.
Guilds began to pour into Link Town. Splendid Temple, Dark Slaughter, Holy Roman Empire, and others sent thousands, even thousands of people.
If a Draconic creature dropped a piece of equipment, it would be too tempting for them.
The entire Link Town was fully armed, and all the crossbows on the towers were activated.
Nie Yan looked up and saw a giant figure suspended in mid-air. The Guardian of Order's huge wings blocked the sunlight. After it cast its magic, dark clouds filled the sky, and black fireballs fell like shooting stars, covering the area where Nie Yan was.
Clusters of black fire exploded around Nie Yan, blasting out deep pits, sending debris flying, and scorching the land black.
Nie Yan calmly chose where to dodge based on the direction of the fireballs in the sky. This required excellent eyesight and judgment. Fortunately, the black fireballs were not very dense, but the power of the explosions was terrifying.
"It's coming down." Nie Yan looked up and saw the Guardian of Order's massive body swooping down towards him, like an eagle hunting its prey. A creature of the Guardian of Order's level was far beyond his current capabilities.
Nie Yan's fragile life couldn't even withstand the slightest touch from the Guardian of Order.
Nie Yan ran around the mountainside, reaching a rock, and looked down. Below was a cliff eighty or ninety yards high. He looked back and saw the Guardian of Order had caught up. Without hesitation, he leaped off.
With a bang, the Guardian of Order slammed into the spot where Nie Yan had just been standing, smashing the rock into pieces.
Nie Yan fell down the cliff, picking up speed. He could feel the plants growing on the cliff face rushing past his ears. Occasionally, a branch jutting out would slow Nie Yan down, only to be snapped off with a crack.
-7, -9, -5, damage numbers floated above Nie Yan's head.
