Chapter 531: Enemies Cross Paths

Hearing this, Jiang Yi sneered coldly.

"I'm doing this to help you!"

The secretary lowered her voice and spoke to Jiang Yi. "By breaking the company's rules, you're making an enemy of the company. I know you're not afraid, but don’t forget—your goal isn’t accomplished yet. If you act on impulse, you’ll only ruin everything."

"Fine. I’ll give you face this time and spare this guy!" Jiang Yi said.

The secretary was right. He couldn’t let someone like Jack jeopardize his plans.

When Jack heard Jiang Yi wouldn’t kill him, he immediately fled in panic, terrified that Jiang Yi might change his mind.

"You’re really worrying!" The secretary frowned. "I always thought you were a steady person. I never expected you to act so recklessly. Luckily, I showed up in time to stop you—otherwise, you’d have caused a disaster!"

"Are *you* worried, or is it Dongfang Mei?" Jiang Yi asked.

The secretary froze at his words.

"What do you mean by that?" She stared at Jiang Yi.

"Stop pretending. I know the one who bribed you was Dongfang Mei, the eldest daughter of the Dongfang family. She already told me everything!" Jiang Yi said.

The secretary fell silent.

Since Jiang Yi already knew, there was no point in keeping up the act.

"Earlier, was it Dongfang Mei who told you to stop me?" Jiang Yi asked.

"Yes."

The secretary nodded. "If Miss Dongfang hadn’t spoken up, I wouldn’t have interfered. You know how paranoid the boss is. If he suspects me, it’ll be trouble."

"How did Dongfang Mei know I’d go after Jack?" Jiang Yi pressed.

This puzzled him.

"I don’t know," the secretary replied. "If you want answers, ask her yourself."

With that, she turned and left.

"Do you think she’s trustworthy?" Shen Lu asked.

"Probably. Dongfang Mei paid her well, and she *has* helped me quite a bit," Jiang Yi said.

"I don’t think we should fully trust her," Shen Lu frowned. "This woman isn’t simple. She’s meticulous and inscrutable—impossible to read."

Jiang Yi chuckled but didn’t respond.

Shen Lu was overthinking it. Whether the secretary was trustworthy or not didn’t matter—she wasn’t a threat.

If Jiang Yi could handle Manager Du and Manager Yang, why would he fear a mere secretary?

There was no need to worry about her.

Everything was under his control.

"Let’s go."

Jiang Yi called out to Shen Lu and headed out of the hall.

Instead of going home, Jiang Yi drove to the Royal Hotel.

He planned to discuss Dongfang Xun’s situation with Dongfang Mei. Otherwise, Dongfang Xun might get sold out without even realizing it.

By the time they arrived at the Royal Hotel, it was already around 5 p.m.—just in time for dinner.

The hotel manager, recognizing Jiang Yi, hurried over to greet him personally. He knew about Jiang Yi’s relationship with Dongfang Mei.

The manager was smart. If he took good care of Jiang Yi now, it would surely benefit him in the future.

"Is Dongfang Mei here?" Jiang Yi asked.

"Miss Dongfang will arrive in about an hour. Mr. Jiang, why don’t you have some tea while I call her?" the manager offered.

"Sure."

Jiang Yi nodded. "Also, prepare a private room and some food for us."

"Right away!"

The manager quickly went to arrange everything.

Jiang Yi didn’t plan to eat for free. He intended to settle the bill for this meal—and all previous ones—later.

Although Dongfang Mei had said Jiang Yi could dine at the hotel without paying, he didn’t want to owe favors.

If word got out, it wouldn’t look good.

Besides, he and Dongfang Mei were just dating. Even if they married someday, Jiang Yi wouldn’t take advantage of the Dongfang family’s wealth.

Jiang Yi sat on the lobby sofa and sipped his tea.

Just then, a familiar figure walked in through the entrance.

It was Song Tong!

With her was a middle-aged man.

The man exuded the aura of a wealthy business owner—flashy and domineering, the very image of a nouveau riche.

Jiang Yi was stunned. What was Song Tong doing here?

To avoid being noticed, he picked up a magazine from the table and hid his face behind it.

"Darling, thank you for bringing me to the Royal Hotel for dinner!"

Song Tong clung to the middle-aged man’s arm and planted a flirtatious kiss on his cheek.

The man smirked smugly, eyeing Song Tong before whispering something lewd: "After dinner, don’t go home. I’ll book a room here. Tonight, you’re mine."

"You’re terrible!"

Song Tong giggled coyly.

"Don’t worry. If you agree to be my mistress, tomorrow I’ll buy you that three-million Bentley you liked at the car dealership," the man said with a grin.

Song Tong’s eyes lit up with greed. She immediately melted into his arms, nuzzling against him like a lovestruck fool.

The two then headed upstairs to their private dining room.

Jiang Yi was floored.

He’d thought Song Tong was only cheating on Dongfang Xun with one man—but no, she was juggling at least two!

And Jiang Yi suspected there were even more.

He’d looked into Song Tong’s background before.

Though her family came from wealth, they had no real income. Even Song Tong herself didn’t hold a proper job.

All their expenses were likely funded by her "boyfriends."

While most people sought relationships for love or marriage, Song Tong was only in it for the money.

Everyone had been fooled by her.

What baffled Jiang Yi was how someone as sharp as Dongfang Xun could fall for her act.

Shen Lu, who’d heard about Dongfang Xun and Song Tong from Jiang Yi earlier, was equally stunned.

"I can’t believe Dongfang Xun fell for a woman like this," Shen Lu remarked with a laugh.

"That middle-aged man must be in his forties or fifties, while Song Tong is barely in her twenties. He’s probably older than her own father!"

"I wonder what expression Dongfang Xun would make if he saw this," Jiang Yi mused, smiling faintly.

"He’d probably die of rage," Shen Lu said.

"Go check which room they’re in," Jiang Yi instructed.

"Got it."

Shen Lu followed them upstairs.

Meanwhile, Jiang Yi took out his phone, ready to call Dongfang Xun and reveal Song Tong’s true colors once and for all.
