Chapter 578: Blind to the True Master

"Forget it, I won’t argue with you," Jiang Yi said.

He had no interest in wasting time with this old man.

Snobbish people like the butler were a dime a dozen in the capital—Jiang Yi had seen so many that he was practically numb to them.

Who would’ve thought even the prestigious capital could foster such shallow behavior?

"Mr. Jiang, please!"

The butler gestured respectfully.

"For what?" Jiang Yi asked.

"To treat Master Yu’s illness, of course," the butler replied awkwardly.

"Remember what I said earlier? I can cure Master Yu, but only if he agrees to one condition—after I heal him, he must do me a small favor. If he agrees, I’ll treat him now," Jiang Yi stated.

"You needn’t worry about that. Master Yu will certainly agree!"

The butler quickly assured him, "I overheard your conversation with Elder Sun. You want Master Yu to craft wedding rings for you, right? Once you cure him, such a trivial request will be no issue."

"Then let’s go."

With that, Jiang Yi strode inside.

Soon, Jiang Yi and Dongfang Mei followed the butler into the grand hall.

The moment they entered, they saw Master Yu sitting on the sofa, staring helplessly at his bandaged hand.

"Even the legendary Elder Sun couldn’t cure me… It seems this hand is beyond saving," Master Yu sighed bitterly. "Without it, my life’s work is finished…"

His voice dripped with resignation.

"Master Yu!" the butler called out.

"Hmm?"

Master Yu glanced up. "To save my life, I’ll have to amputate this hand. Call the hospital—I’ll go for the surgery now."

"I’ve found a medical expert who can cure you!" the butler said urgently.

"Where is this expert?" Master Yu’s eyes lit up with hope.

"The expert is this gentleman—Mr. Jiang!"

The butler gestured toward Jiang Yi.

Master Yu’s gaze snapped to Jiang Yi—only for his hopeful expression to twist into fury.

"Outrageous!"

Master Yu roared at the butler, "Does this young man look like a miracle doctor? He’s clearly a fraud! After all these years by my side, how could you be so gullible? Have you lost your mind?"

The butler hastily explained, "Mr. Jiang is no fraud! Though young, his medical skills are extraordinary. Elder Sun himself admitted that Mr. Jiang’s abilities far surpass his own. If Mr. Jiang treats you, you *will* recover!"

"Elder Sun truly said that?" Master Yu frowned.

"Every word is true! I wouldn’t dare deceive you!" the butler swore.

"Elder Sun is a man of integrity. I’ll trust you this once." Master Yu relented.

"However, Mr. Jiang said that if he cures you, you must craft wedding rings for him," the butler added.

Master Yu studied Jiang Yi. "Young man, my hands are my life. If you can truly heal me, I’ll create any wedding ring you desire."

"Deal."

Jiang Yi smiled.

He stepped forward and unwrapped the bandages—only for a putrid stench to immediately assault their senses.

Dongfang Mei, standing nearby, gagged and nearly vomited.

The tumor, thumb-sized and sickly black, was surrounded by purplish, swollen skin.

The poison was spreading.

Any longer, and not only would Master Yu lose his hand—he’d lose his life.

This type of malignant tumor could consume the entire body overnight.

Thankfully, fate had brought Jiang Yi to him. Without intervention, Master Yu was doomed.

Jiang Yi produced a set of golden needles.

At the sight of them, Master Yu stiffened.

"Mr. Jiang… just who *are* you?"

Master Yu’s voice trembled. "Those golden needles… they’re the heirloom treasure of the Dongfang family. Rumor has it that Liu Hong, the former head of the Liu family, gifted them to the capital’s top miracle doctor—Jiang Yi. Don’t tell me… *you’re* him?"

"I am," Jiang Yi confirmed.

"Master Yu, you’re quite well-informed," Dongfang Mei remarked with a smile. "You’re right. Jiang Yi *is* the capital’s foremost healer, and those needles were a gift from my mother."

"Liu Hong is your mother? Then you must be Dongfang Mei, the current head of the Dongfang family?" Master Yu gasped.

"Correct," Dongfang Mei nodded.

"Forgive my disrespect!"

Master Yu bowed deeply. "The capital’s greatest doctor and the Dongfang family’s leader personally coming to treat me—and I failed to greet you properly. I’m deeply ashamed!"

Dongfang Mei chuckled lightly.

Meanwhile, the butler looked ready to collapse.

Earlier, he’d dismissed Jiang Yi and Dongfang Mei as frauds—even ordering them thrown out.

Yet in terms of status, influence, and reputation, these two far surpassed Master Yu himself.

"My sincerest apologies! I was blind to the true masters before me…" The butler kowtowed repeatedly.

"No harm done. Ignorance is no crime," Dongfang Mei waved it off.

She wasn’t one to hold grudges. Though initially annoyed, she’d already moved past it.

The butler rushed to pour tea, but Dongfang Mei didn’t touch it—the stench from the tumor made drinking impossible.

---

An hour later, Jiang Yi exhaled and retracted the golden needles.

The tumor had visibly shrunk.

Everyone stared in awe.

"Mr. Jiang, your skills are nothing short of divine. The title of ‘capital’s top miracle doctor’ is well-earned. I’ve never witnessed such mastery," Master Yu marveled.

"You flatter me," Jiang Yi said modestly.

"Modesty doesn’t suit you!"

Master Yu laughed. "I’ve met many renowned doctors, but none like you."

Jiang Yi smiled faintly.

Without such skills, he’d never have dared to set foot in the capital.

To thrive here, one needed unparalleled expertise.

It was precisely by curing influential figures—like Elder Sun and the president of the Capital Commerce Association—that Jiang Yi had built his network.
