Du Yue and Pike were thoroughly panicked when their scheme was exposed, knowing Jiang Tian’s methods would make their lives a living hell.
“Du Yue, I loved you so much, I gave you everything you desired, and yet you committed such a despicable act against me!” Jiang Tian roared at Du Yue, his face a mask of murderous rage.
His gaze then fell upon Pike. “Pike, I treated you well, why did you betray me like this!”
“It was the young madam who seduced me, and I couldn’t resist!” Pike hastily explained.
“Your explanations are useless now. I will never believe you two adulterers again! I won’t kill you, but I will make your lives worse than death!” Jiang Tian bellowed.
As soon as he finished speaking, several assassins emerged and pinned Pike to the ground.
Jiang Yi chuckled inwardly at the scene, finding the unfolding drama rather entertaining. Pik and Du Yue both held significant leverage. Pike, as the captain of the assassins, knew everything about the organization, making him a valuable asset for dismantling it, which would save considerable trouble. As for Du Yue, being Jiang Tian’s wife, she knew many of his affairs. Jiang Yi considered the possibility of rescuing them to use against Jiang Tian.
“Kill Pike for me!” Jiang Tian roared, his eyes glinting with murderous intent.
“Yes!” Two assassins responded, drawing their daggers.
Du Yue, having regained her composure, rushed forward, pushing the two assassins aside. “Get away from him! If you dare lay a hand on Pike, I’ll make you pay!” she yelled.
The assassins hesitated, intimidated by Du Yue. Despite her promiscuity, Du Yue possessed considerable influence. This assassin organization had been partly established with her help, and these assassins not only obeyed Jiang Tian but also Du Yue. She was, in essence, their superior.
“Bitch, are you determined to oppose me?” Jiang Tian raged at Du Yue.
“I only want to protect Pike. He is innocent. If you dare kill him, don’t expect me to show you any leniency!” Du Yue declared. “Don’t forget, I was the one who established this assassin organization. Most of them follow my commands. If you dare touch a single hair on Pike’s head, I will not hold back!”
Jiang Tian was beside himself with fury.
“Young master, please spare Pike! Pike was merely confused and made an unforgivable mistake!”
“That’s right! Pike has done so much for you, Young Master. If he hasn’t earned merit, he’s at least earned sympathy!”
“Young Master, why not let his past contributions offset his mistake?”
…
Most of the assassins pleaded for Pike’s life. It was clear that these were the ones loyal to Du Yue, and would likely rebel if she commanded it. Jiang Tian’s expression was grim; he hadn’t anticipated the situation escalating this far. Not only had Du Yue cuckolded him, but she was also rallying these assassins against him.
“Jiang Tian, we were married. I don’t want things to come to this,” Du Yue said. “How about we both take a step back? If you spare Pike, I’ll do everything you say.”
Jiang Tian remained silent, his face a picture of grim anger.
“I only want to save Pike’s life. You know the consequences if you refuse. This escalating conflict will benefit no one,” Du Yue continued.
Jiang Tian still didn’t respond. He surged forward, directly towards Pike, and began to kick him repeatedly. He only stopped when Pike lay on the ground, badly injured and unable to move. The beating offered Jiang Tian a measure of catharsis.
“Fine, I agree not to kill Pike. But from this moment on, I’m revoking all your positions within the assassin organization. None of these assassins will ever obey you again!” Jiang Tian stated, staring intently at Du Yue.
“Alright, I agree!” Du Yue conceded, though unwillingly. She had to agree to save Pike’s life. Unbeknownst to her, this decision would only temporarily save Pike. Her betrayal of Jiang Tian, making him a laughingstock, meant only their deaths could truly appease him. Du Yue had been stripped of all her authority within the assassin organization; these assassins would no longer heed her commands, effectively leaving her defenseless.
“Get to the backyard and stay there obediently. From today onwards, I will have you two confined separately!” Jiang Tian commanded Du Yue, then ordered the nearby assassins, “Take them away!”
“Yes!” Several assassins responded and led Du Yue and Pike away. Soon, their figures vanished through the backyard entrance.
“Find an opportunity to kill Du Yue and Pike!” Jiang Tian whispered to his steward. “I will not tolerate betrayal. Anyone who betrays me must die!”
“Young master, that’s too extreme!” the steward frowned. “The young madam has considerable influence among the assassins. Killing her might incite a rebellion!”
“Fool! Just find an excuse. With a reason to kill that bitch, who would dare object!” Jiang Tian snapped, a sinister expression crossing his face. “Then you can claim she and Pike were spies!”
“I understand!” The steward nodded.
Shortly thereafter, someone reported to Jiang Tian that a thorough search of all the assassins’ phones had yielded no trace of the spy who had tipped off Lord Bary. This news began to agitate Jiang Tian. His grand operation was intended to uncover the spy, but instead, he had stumbled upon his wife’s infidelity.
“Young master, are you saying there are no spies in our castle?” the steward asked, his brow furrowed.
“It’s impossible that there are no spies. This spy is definitely still in the castle!” Jiang Tian declared. “We’ve investigated all these assassins. Now, we’ll start a night-long investigation of all the security guards and servants. Everyone within the castle will be searched, without exception! Furthermore, until the spy is found, no one is allowed to leave the castle. Disobedience will be met with death!”
“Yes!” The steward acknowledged and headed towards the backyard. Jiang Tian’s gaze shifted to the remaining assassins.
“All of you, listen carefully. From now on, you answer only to me. Anyone who dares obey that bitch will be killed without mercy!” Jiang Tian announced to the assassins.
“Yes!” the assassins quickly responded.
“You are dismissed!” Jiang Tian ordered. The assassins then dispersed, leaving a contingent to continue patrolling the courtyard.
