“Where is my sister?” Jiang Yi asked urgently.
“Don’t worry, we’ll find her soon!” Dongfang Mei replied with a playful smile. “But before you see her, you must swear that after you meet her, you will marry me immediately!”
Jiang Yi was speechless. Dongfang Mei was forcing his hand.
To find his sister, Jiang Yi made the oath on the spot.
Seeing Jiang Yi swear, Dongfang Mei then spoke to him, “Your sister was sold to a couple in the capital city years ago. They had no children and treated her as their own daughter. She didn’t suffer any hardship. She’s now in college and is a brilliant student. That couple dotes on her very much.”
Jiang Yi only wanted to see his sister as soon as possible.
“Take me to see her!” Jiang Yi said.
“Alright, let’s go!” Dongfang Mei said, leading Jiang Yi towards the end of the street. They soon arrived at the entrance of a villa. The villa was not very luxurious and looked like it had been built many years ago.
At this moment, a middle-aged couple walked out of the villa. Both appeared to be in their forties. Based on their clothing and demeanor, they seemed to be business people who owned a company.
“The man is Kang You, and the woman is Li Min,” Dongfang Mei told Jiang Yi. “They own a small factory that produces medicine.”
Jiang Yi was surprised that Dongfang Mei had investigated so thoroughly. Recovering from his shock, Jiang Yi took a deep breath. His sister must be living a happy life. He hesitated about whether to disturb her.
Suddenly, Kang You and Li Min started arguing.
“You can’t touch a single cent of Xiao Xin’s tuition fees, or I’ll have a problem with you!” Li Min said with a frown.
“Xiao Xin’s tuition isn’t due until next month. By then, the factory will surely make money, and her tuition will be covered!” Kang You said. “The factory is in urgent need of funds. If this isn’t resolved, the factory will have to close. How will we live then? I told you we should send Xiao Xin to a regular school, but you insisted on sending her to a prestigious school. Such expensive tuition, we could barely afford it before, but now, we have no way out.”
“The factory can close, but not a cent of Xiao Xin’s tuition can be less. Even if I have to beg on the streets, I won’t let Xiao Xin leave school,” Li Min stated firmly.
Kang You looked helpless.
Jiang Yi frowned as he witnessed this scene. It seemed they were in trouble. Their family was not very wealthy. Jiang Yi felt grateful to them. From their conversation, he could tell how much they doted on his sister. Even if it meant closing the factory, they would find the money for his sister’s tuition.
“You want to help them, right?” Dongfang Mei suddenly asked Jiang Yi.
“I haven’t decided yet whether to meet my sister,” Jiang Yi said, taking a deep breath. “She is living happily now, and that assassin organization hasn’t been eliminated yet. If I reveal myself to her now, it will only put her in danger.”
“Alright,” Dongfang Mei smiled faintly. “I know what you’re thinking, but their family is in trouble now. You can’t just stand by and do nothing, can you?”
Jiang Yi frowned. He did want to help them. But how to help was the question. It might arouse their suspicion. Jiang Yi decided to think about it carefully when he returned.
“Where is my sister now?” Jiang Yi asked.
“At school!” Dongfang Mei replied. “If you want to see her now, you’ll have to go to Beijing University. I originally planned to introduce you to her adoptive parents first, but I didn’t expect you to be so anxious.”
“She is my only relative, of course I’m anxious,” Jiang Yi said.
“Okay, then let’s go to school!” Dongfang Mei said, and she and Jiang Yi walked towards the car.
After getting into the car, Dongfang Mei started the engine and drove straight to Beijing University. Beijing University is a top university in China. Those who get into this school are either top geniuses or come from wealthy families who bought their enrollment. Jiang Yi’s only intention in going to Beijing University was to catch a glimpse of his sister. Jiang Yi did not plan to reveal himself to her. It was not yet time for that.
An hour later, the car arrived at the entrance of Beijing University. As Jiang Yi and Dongfang Mei were about to enter, they were stopped by security guards. Jiang Yi had to wait outside. They waited until the afternoon. Dongfang Mei did not leave and stayed by Jiang Yi’s side.
An hour later, a group of girls came out of the school, chatting and laughing, seemingly heading to a gathering.
“Xiao Xin, you have to come with us to the bar for a party today, no matter what!” a girl in a red dress said.
“I have other plans, maybe next time,” a girl with a delicate appearance and a scholarly air said. This girl was Xiao Xin.
“Every time there’s a party, you say next time. Are you looking down on us?” the girl in the red dress asked Xiao Xin with a cold laugh. “It’s no wonder. You are the best student in our school. Even the counselor says you’ll be the most accomplished among us. You’re a genius, why would you want to hang out with us slackers?”
“I didn’t mean that!” Xiao Xin said. “I just don’t have money. You know my family situation…”
“So you admit you’re a beggar now?” the girl in the red dress burst into unrestrained laughter. The others also joined in the laughter. Xiao Xin looked wronged, tears welling up in her eyes.
The girl in the red dress suddenly put on a sinister smile and shouted into the distance. Two bodyguards walked over.
“Miss, do you have any instructions?” the two bodyguards asked.
“My classmate Xiao Xin practices Taekwondo and is rumored to be quite skilled. She just said she wants to spar with you,” the girl in the red dress said with a gloomy expression.
Upon hearing this, the two bodyguards clenched their fists and walked directly towards Xiao Xin. Xiao Xin looked frightened and retreated backward. The two bodyguards showed no intention of letting Xiao Xin go, approaching her step by step. None of the surrounding classmates stood up to help Xiao Xin. Instead, they all looked at her with mocking and schadenfreude expressions. A crowd began to gather.
“We have no enmity, why do you always trouble me?” Xiao Xin asked the girl in the red dress.
“I like it!” the girl in the red dress sneered. “You study hard, and all the teachers like you, while we are labeled as slackers by the teachers. Only by teaching you a lesson can I vent my anger.”
