Jiang Yi’s brow furrowed slightly upon hearing this. He hoped Tracy would become Prince Matthew’s successor.
Tracy was, in a sense, a friend to him. If the Tiansheng Group needed help in the future, Tracy would undoubtedly lend a hand, but the Golden Gate was another matter entirely.
“Haven’t you ever thought about becoming Prince Matthew’s successor?”
Jiang Yi asked.
“Of course, I have. To be frank, I am ambitious. However, I am a woman, without any backing or my own influence. Even if I harbored such aspirations, I lack the strength to contend with the Golden Gate.”
“The Golden Gate is different. He has been cultivating his influence for years, and my adoptive father has always groomed him as his successor. How can I possibly compete with him? I simply cannot win.”
“Therefore, becoming the successor is merely a wishful thought for me,” Tracy said with a smile.
“I believe you still have a chance! What’s wrong with being a woman? Women can also hold up half the sky. In your Eagle Country, history has seen several queens. They, too, were women, yet they reached the pinnacle of power, commanding the subservience of countless men!”
“If you have the will, I will wholeheartedly assist you!” Jiang Yi raised an eyebrow as he looked at Tracy.
“You said it yourself, and you’re not allowed to go back on your word!” Tracy stated.
“Rest assured, I will never backtrack. I will definitely help you! However, you must also promise that if you successfully become Prince Matthew’s heir, you will fully protect the interests of the Tiansheng Group in Eagle Country,” Jiang Yi said.
“Agreed, it’s a deal!” Tracy immediately accepted.
Jiang Yi took a deep breath. It seemed Tracy had harbored the desire to become Prince Matthew’s successor all along. Her earlier words were merely to test his stance.
Tracy was not only exceptionally shrewd but also quite cunning!
The Golden Gate was no match for Tracy, and Jiang Yi was confident that Tracy’s capabilities extended beyond what she had revealed; she surely had more tricks up her sleeve.
Forming an alliance with Tracy now would undoubtedly yield benefits in the future.
An hour later, the car arrived outside the gates of Jiang Wanli’s castle.
Jiang Yi stepped out of the car, gazing at the opulent villa before him. He let out a cold laugh. This time, Jiang Wanli wouldn’t escape. He had waited many years for this day!
“Squad One, Squad Two, surround the castle. Do not let even a single fly escape!”
“The remaining personnel will enter the castle and subdue all bodyguards, assassins, thugs, and security guards within. Anyone who resists will be killed without mercy!” Tracy commanded loudly.
“Yes!” The armored soldiers responded and then moved out to execute their orders. Some surrounded the castle, preventing anyone from leaving, while others charged into the fortress.
Tracy was highly regarded by Prince Matthew not only for her intelligence but also for her decisive and efficient execution of tasks.
“Brother…” Chen Kun walked over from the opposite street. “I’ve been watching since last night. Jiang Wanli hasn’t left the castle. He won’t escape this time!”
“It’s good that Jiang Wanli hasn’t left the castle!” Jiang Yi raised an eyebrow. “Let’s go in! I want to see Jiang Wanli personally!”
With that, Jiang Yi strode directly into the castle through the main gate.
Everyone inside the castle had been subdued by the armored soldiers. Jiang Wanli’s attendants and followers glared fiercely at Jiang Yi, but they were powerless against him.
Soon, Jiang Yi reached the main hall.
Jiang Wanli was seated leisurely on a sofa in the hall, holding a glass of red wine, his face radiating a sense of ease, as if none of this concerned him!
“You’re here!” Jiang Wanli looked up at Jiang Yi. “Sit down!”
Jiang Yi sat down on the sofa and looked at Jiang Wanli. “Uncle, your composure is truly remarkable. To be in such a predicament yet still be so relaxed. Anyone else would have long lost their nerve!”
“I haven’t reached a dead end yet, so there’s no need for me to panic,” Jiang Wanli said with a slight smile.
Jiang Yi took a deep breath. Jiang Wanli was either deliberately feigning calmness or had some hidden trump card. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so unfazed, knowing full well that Jiang Yi had come for revenge.
“Nephew, do you know? The biggest mistake I ever made in my life was not finishing you off completely back then, letting you survive!”
“You brat are even more formidable than your father. In just a few short years, you’ve built such a powerful business empire in the commercial world. Now, even a prominent figure like Prince Matthew is helping you!”
“I used to have connections in Eagle Country, but you, through your despicable methods, caused me to lose the support of the Eagle Country royal family. I became an outcast of the Eagle Country royalty,” Jiang Wanli said with a tone filled with resentment.
Jiang Wanli’s emotions finally began to waver; his previous composure was gone.
“That’s right, I was the one who made you an outcast through my actions. And your son, Jiang Tian, also fell into Prince Matthew’s hands because of me. He ultimately met an untimely death while trying to escape!”
“But compared to the wicked deeds you’ve committed, all of that pales in significance!”
“I am here today for revenge, to avenge my father and my master. So, quickly say whatever last words you have! I don’t have time to waste here with you!” Jiang Yi stared at Jiang Wanli.
Jiang Yi would not show mercy to someone as insane as Jiang Wanli.
“I killed your father and your master back then because I was forced by the Mei Country royal family and the Eagle Country royal family. If I hadn’t acted against your father and master, they would have dealt with me.”
“Even if I hadn’t acted, the Mei Country royal family and the Eagle Country royal family wouldn’t have let them go, and my own life would have been forfeit. Then, our Jiang family would have been wiped out! For the sake of the Jiang family, your father and your master had to be sacrificed!”
“In that situation, choosing the sacrifice of your father and master was the best course of action,” Jiang Wanli said, his voice filled with agitation.
“For the Jiang family? How ridiculous, you did it for your own selfish gain!”
“For your personal benefit, you killed your own brother. You are utterly depraved, beyond redemption, no different from a beast!” Jiang Yi retorted directly.
Jiang Yi had harbored these words for many years and had long wanted to yell them at Jiang Wanli’s face. Now that he finally had the chance, he felt an indescribable sense of relief.
“You may not believe it, but your father believed me back then!”
“Your father knew that one of us had to die, so he chose self-sacrifice. Think about it, if your father hadn’t wanted to die, I wouldn’t have been able to kill him so easily!”
“He deliberately let me kill him. If you don’t believe me, you can investigate. Not a single word I speak is false!” Jiang Wanli took a deep breath.
