Chapter 231: WHAT AM I FORGETTING?

Chapter 231: WHAT AM I FORGETTING?

Aristia stared as countless images flashed through her eyes.

"Gasp!" Her eyes opened with a start.

Her eyes roamed the room and question marks appeared in her eyes.

[What’s everyone doing in my room? Could they have been watching me sleep? I mean, I know I’m cute and all but that’s a little creepy.]

When she felt someone shifting beside her, she turned to her left.

[What’s he doing on my bed?] She thought.

Wilson walked towards the bed in long strides, feeling like he couldn’t believe his eyes. They had been searching everywhere for her and she had been in Owen’s room sleeping?!

Aristia watched him walking towards her, and when he stretched out his hand towards her, she didn’t resist.

Wilson carried her in his arms, glanced at the innocent and equally confused Kai, then wordlessly turned around and left.

Only then did Aristia see that it was Owen’s room.

[What am I... right. I came to check on him and... fainted?] Her eyes caught Kai’s figure right as the door shut. [So I guess they weren’t watching me sleep.]

Wilson set her down on the couch in the parlour. Her whole family was looking at her with confusion on their faces.

She laughed a silly laugh.

"I just wanted to see how Kai was... and didn’t know when I fell asleep." She explained. She felt like she was forgetting something, but she couldn’t put her finger on what it was.

Catherine sighed and shook her head. But that really seemed like what happened if she considered Aristia’s posture.

’She must have been so tired. To fall asleep like that.’ She thought and rubbed Aristia’s head.

Wilson thought the same.

"Well, it’s time for dinner. You can’t go to sleep on an empty stomach." He said.

He still had some doubts. Even if he just fell asleep, why hadn’t he been able to sense Millie then?

But it wasn’t like Aristia would know the answer, so he let it go for the time being.

Aristia nodded and turned to Alaric.

"You’re not getting much screentime, are you?"

Alaric looked at her with confusion, wondering what his sister was saying.

Aristia laughed. "I’m hungry."

Her parents decided to just ignore her earlier statement and head for the dining room.

"About that... can I have dinner with Kai?"

Catherine glanced at her, still moving forward. "Kai can have dinner with us at the dinner table."

Aristia shook her head. "No... He’s too shy. He’s not used to everything yet."

"Then he can have his dinner brought to him in Owen’s room." Wilson made it clear that there was no room for negotiation.

He wouldn’t have his daughter having dinner with that boy.

Really, what was with his daughter bringing back home boys she hadn’t met before?

He knew the reason for this and he agreed, but he still couldn’t help thinking that way, being the overprotective father that he was.

Aristia pouted and gave in, leaning her head on Wilson’s shoulder. "Fine."

They arrived at the dining room and took their seats.

Owen wasn’t there, so Aristia guessed he was probably going to have it in his room with Kai.

Dinner was served.

"So, how was your... outing today?" Catherine asked.

"Well... It was good until we met the bad man." Aristia said with a small chuckle. "Did you enjoy shopping, mama?"

"I did." Catherine smiled warmly.

"Allie, how about you?" Aristia asked.

Alaric nodded. "It was amazing. Papa shot the most birds."

Alaric and Wilson had gone to watch a falconry game that the noble men were organising and Wilson had participated.

Catherine nodded with an expression that said, ’As expected of my man’.

Wilson turned to Aristia. "How come I wasn’t asked about my day?"

Aristia glanced at him.

He and Alaric had gone together, so she had guessed the answer would be similar.

She cleared her throat.

"How was your day, papa?"

"It was alright." Wilson replied.

Aristia, "..."

Just alright. He had wanted her to ask him just to reply that it was alright. Alaric’s answer would have covered for his.

[What can I say? At least he’s honest?]

"It’s great that your day was alright, papa." She said.

Catherine and Alaric burst into laughter at her words.

"It would have been better if your mother was there." Wilson said.

Catherine’s hand paused for a second.

Without even looking, Aristia could tell that Catherine’s face was tinted red.

"I’ll come next time." Catherine said.

"Mm." Wilson smiled. He had a somewhat nostalgic expression on his face.

Looking over at Catherine, Aristia saw that she was the same.

The couple had probably been reminded of something sweet that had happened between them before.

"I’m full." Alaric put his spoon down.

"Me too." Aristia sighed patting her stomach.

Alaric laughed and followed after her, patting his stomach too.

Aristia got up to leave the dining room and Alaric rushed to catch up with her.

"Are you going out tomorrow, Tia?"

Aristia held his hand in hers and tilted her head. "I’m not sure... What do you want to do tomorrow?"

"I want to go with you wherever you’re going."

(Aww~)

[Who said that?] Aristia thought, looking around.

She shrugged. [Hm. I would have sworn I heard a voice cooing.]

She looked at Alaric. "Sure. You can come with me if I’m going somewhere if you want."

The door to the dining room closed behind them.

They went upstairs to the floor their room was on, but Alaric didn’t enter his room. Instead, he followed her to her room.

Aristia sat on her bed and Alaric climbed in behind her, getting into the sheets.

Aristia looked out the open window.

Millie flew in from outside.

"Millie." Alaric sat up.

Millie nodded at him, switching to fox form and lying on the bed.

Aristia smiled at her, then got into the sheets. She looked up at the ceiling, deep in thought.

[I still have this feeling that I’ve forgotten something.]

She had woken up on Owen’s bed in a strange position.

[It’s like I just fell asleep. Literally. Did I dream?]

"What am I forgetting?"
