Chapter 218: Sacrifice (2)
"Ugh, I shouldn’t have done this. They really are heavy."
This was what I heard along with the sound of things being moved.
It was clear the middle aged man was moving the adventurers into the carriage after drugging them.
I could have used my Mana Vision to see what was happening, but I held back since I had no idea what the middle aged man was capable of. He was able to use mind control magic, so I knew that he was able to use mana to a certain extent.
If he felt my mana hitting him, then he would know that I wasn’t actually unconscious.
When it came to my turn, I had to force myself to not tremble.
The way that the middle aged man touched my body, it really didn’t feel comfortable.
It was different from the way that he moved the adventurers. He took his time moving me and he even rubbed my body in several places while he was moving me.
It really wasn’t a good feeling...
But at least he knew when to stop as he didn’t go too far.
Or else I really wouldn’t have known what I would have done.
After putting me in the carriage with the other adventurers, he started heading in a certain direction.
Based on the bumping that came from the carriage, it seemed that he had driven the carriage off the road and was currently driving across unpaved ground. While I had no idea where exactly he was heading, it seemed like he was heading into the forest.
This continued for a while before it suddenly came to a stop.
It was surprising that the adventurers didn’t wake up from all of the bumping that came from the carriage moving across the unpaved ground.
Either the medicine that the middle aged man used was very potent or they were just very sound sleepers.
Out of these two options, I was more inclined to believe that it was the former rather than the latter.
After the carriage stopped, I could hear the sound of someone lifting the adventurers.
It wasn’t just the middle aged man who was doing this, there were others that were also here that helped the middle aged man move them.
Though when it came to moving me, it seemed that the middle aged man was more inclined to do it himself rather than let anyone else do it.
I knew that it was the middle aged man since I could feel the way that he touched my body.
It seemed that he really did have a thing for people like me...
After being dragged for a while, I was suddenly placed down.
I could feel the aura of the other adventurers coming from around me.
There was also the sound of people moving around us, but it didn’t seem like they were going to do anything just yet. The sounds that came from around me were as if they were preparing something.
After a while, there was finally a voice that rang out.
"Brothers and sisters, today we have gathered to offer these sacrifices to our great lord."
"All hail the great lord!"
From the voices that rang out, it didn’t seem like there was a small group that was gathered. It seemed like whatever this was, they had quite a few followers.
But that didn’t matter since it didn’t feel like they were that strong individually.
The only thing that I was worried about was if there was some kind of terrifying thing that they worshipped.
If that were to interfere, then it would be a problem.
In the end, I wasn’t able to figure out just what it was that these people followed.
If only they weren’t in a hurry to start the sacrifice, then I wouldn’t have been forced to take action.
"Now to offer the first...Ah!" The middle aged man screamed out in pain when he saw that his hand holding the dagger had suddenly been cut off. It had happened so instantly that his brain didn’t register the pain at first.
But it was hard to ignore when he could see the blood spurting from the stub that was once his hand.
However, I didn’t give the rest of these cultists a chance to do anything as I suddenly stood up and started running in circles around them. The only time that they had a reaction was when I cut them with my daggers.
None of them were able to keep up with me, so there was nothing that they could do to stop me from cutting them down like this.
"How is he not asleep?"
"Did you not use the right amount of medicine?"
"I saw that he was clearly asleep, how is this possible?"
The cultists naturally panicked when they saw me awake, that didn’t really matter.
A few of them were smart enough to go for the adventurers, but they weren’t smart enough that they were able to stop me in time. When they tried to approach, the only thing that happened was that they received a stab in the back.
They weren’t smart enough to go all together to overwhelm me so that they could grab one of the adventurers for the altar that was behind them.
Since they weren’t actually putting any pressure on me, I was able to take a general glance at this room.
It was the normal cultist place with a creepy altar in the back and a ceremonial array on the ground.
It was clear that they were trying to do some kind of sacrifice ceremony with us.
"What do we do?" The cultists panicked when they saw that they were being slowly picked off one by one.
The middle aged man had gripped his hand at this point to stop the bleeding and had calmed himself down.
All of a sudden, the middle aged man grabbed one of the cultists and brought him over to the altar.
When the cultist finally reacted, the middle aged man had already grabbed a dagger and said, "The lord will reward your sacrifice and devotion."
