Chapter 198: A slime’s life (1)
"Now, where is this place?" I thought to myself as I used my Mana Vision to scan the area.
Since I was a slime, that meant that I didn’t actually have eyes to see with and could only use Mana Vision to see.
That was why it was part of the basic skills that were offered to those that took the slime race.
The first thing that I saw was the corpses of the humans that I had just killed.
It wasn’t as if that was my fault, they were the ones that wanted to kill me first.
So it could only be considered self defense for me to take care of them like this.
But after thinking about it, it felt like it would be a waste to leave these corpses out here.
Opening up my ’mouth’, I surrounded these corpses with my slime body and swallowed them. After they were swallowed, it didn’t take long before this slime body of mine broke down these corpses.
But the moment that it did, I couldn’t help laughing to myself.
If I had a face, a smile would have appeared on it for sure.
"Human Transformation obtained."
This was a result of the Absorption skill that all slimes possessed.
So if I ever wanted to head to the human towns, it would be easy once I transformed into human form.
Though it was disappointing that they didn’t have anything other than this to offer.
None of these thugs had a single useful skill that I could take for myself through Absorption.
Once I was done swallowing the corpses, there was a part of me that wondered if I should take care of the carriage and horses as well.
After all, there was no doubt that these things would be destroyed since they were in the middle of a place where monsters lived.
Though there was a part of me that found it funny that they came all the way out here if they had been planning to get rid of me in the first place. It must be the sudden greed that came over them that made them do this.
In the end, I released a blade of water at the reins that tied the horses to the carriage.
The horses were innocent after all.
It wasn’t their fault that they had been brought out here by the idiots that I killed.
Once the reins had been cut and the horses found that they were free, they didn’t waste any time before running off into the forest.
Though it was still dangerous to run off into the forest like this, the horses knew that they had a better chance while running than to stay here. The horses weren’t fools, they knew just what kind of place they were in since their animal instincts showed them the danger around them.
After the horses ran off, I turned in a certain direction.
I had been here for a while and had made a commotion when taking care of the thugs.
It was only natural that I would attract the attention of the monsters that lived in this place.
"Kree, skree."
This was the sound that came from around me.
Even without seeing them, I already knew that it was a group of goblins that had stumbled upon this place and had surrounded me.
But I didn’t panic even though I was surrounded.
The first thing that I did was wait to see what these goblins would do.
After all, I wasn’t a human. I was a slime, a fellow monster right now.
There was no reason for them to attack me if they were just here to loot.
But it turned out that the goblins didn’t care about this as an arrow came in my direction.
It seemed that the goblins thought that since I was a lowly slime, I was easy prey for them.
In the end, the world of monsters was even more ruthless than the world in the wilderness.
At least in the wilderness, there was the ability to talk to one’s enemy.
It was different in this world of monsters where they didn’t even bother talking and directly attacked.
In the end, the rule of the world of monsters was that the strongest survived while the weaker monster was devoured.
In that case, there was no need for me to hold back.
Even though the arrow hit me, it didn’t actually do any damage to me.
The moment that the arrow entered my slime body, it started dissolving without actually hurting me. The acid inside of me was much stronger than the acid of a normal slime, so this arrow didn’t stand a single chance as it dissolved in an instant.
Seeing this, the goblins were all caught off guard.
That was when I made my move.
Before the goblins could come back to their senses, there were a bunch of water blades that suddenly cut through the air. Once they reacted, they found that half of them had already been cut down by these water blades.
Seeing this, half of the goblins chose to run while the other half chose to fight.
The problem with the half that chose to fight was that they found that they were no match for this slime. Even though it was nothing more than a slime, it had this ability that they couldn’t match at all.
So all they could do was run into the water blades that came at them and be cut in half.
Once I cut them all down, I landed on the ground in front of the goblin corpses.
These goblin corpses had been chopped up by the water blades that I shot at them and I could see the blood and guts that fell out of them which made them seem even more disgusting.
That was why I was struggling on what to do next...
"Should I swallow these goblin corpses? But they look like they taste horrible no matter how you look at it..."
