Chapter 326: The Last Stand
Down on the ground, Jason smiled while seeing the interaction between Gina and the Skyking. Jason was happy that the Legion had gotten used to Gina’s presence so quickly. At least now he could be sure that they would protect Gina no matter the situation. Jason looked up at Gina’s head to see what her new hierarchy progression was, and the smile on his face widened when he saw that she was already at [70%] in her hierarchy progression! That was an insane increase compared to the other subordinates in Jason’s Legion! Jason still remembered when he was trying to increase Raya and Fenrir’s hierarchy progression, and it took nearly five major battles for them to reach a hundred percent! Gina was likely going to make that same progress in only three battles!
’Is it because she has higher intelligence?’
Jason hummed as this thought crossed his mind. Compared to the other subordinates in Jason’s Legion, Gina had a lot more intellectual freedom to use in battles since she didn’t have to wait for his orders before carrying out any function. Most of Jason’s Legion were capable of doing what he said very well, but other than that, they weren’t very good at handling themselves independently. The only other subordinate in Jason’s Legion that might have a similar freedom to Gina was Azrael, and that was only because Azrael already had such a high intelligence rating even before joining the Legion. Even though Azrael had to follow all of Jason’s commands, Jason knew that Azrael could still carry out many functions without him being there to guide him.

A notification popped up in Jason’s system and Jason glanced at it for a second before he heard Luthor’s voice coming through the comms.
[Jason, we’re done over here.]
Jason hummed in response to the commander. Luthor had been fighting against Radagan dragons with a few of Jason’s subordinates, and even though Luthor was having a hard time since he couldn’t fly, he was able to deal with all of them with the help of the Legion. But what really helped the superhumans in their fight was the fear that Jason put in the hearts of the Radagan soldiers. After the first few soldiers were killed, Jason had resurrected them and added them to his fighting force. And once the other Radagan soldiers saw some of their dead comrades waking up from the dead and joining the Legion to fight against them, they were too shocked to put up proper defenses, and it made it easier for the superhumans to take care of them! Some of the soldiers even tried to run away from the fight once they saw that they were seriously outclassed, but they just ran into the subordinates that were guarding the border of the town, and they were killed by Raya and her subordinates! In a battle, the mental warfare is just as important as the physical warfare, and Jason resurrecting those soldiers was the perfect way to ensure his enemies lost their mental stability! The army with the weaker mindset would always be the first to break formation and get killed!
Jason told Luthor to make sure the other superhumans were fine and have the healers look over them, and Luthor acknowledged the command before clicking off the comm.
’Babe. I think you should come over here. There’s a problem.’
Gina’s voice suddenly came through the mental link, and Jason raised a brow as he asked her what was wrong. Gina told Jason that it would be better if he saw it himself, and Jason turned on the [Eye of the King] to get a good look. Once Jason saw what was happening, he hummed calmly in understanding. Jason told his subordinates to start getting the Magic Crystals from the dragons that they had killed before he put his hands in his pocket and activated [King’s Substitute].
Gina was standing at the edge of the campsite with the Skyking and a few other Legion members, and she was currently looking over a large group of civilian men who were standing at the edge of a town. The streets of the town were completely empty, and there were no women or children outside, but Gina could see some small children and women peeking out from windows or doors as they watched Jason’s Legion. The entrance to the town had been blocked by about a hundred dragonborn men who were all carrying pitchforks, spears, and swords. From what Gina could see, she was sure that these men weren’t fighters. They didn’t have the same build or intensity that Gina had seen in the dragonriders, but that didn’t mean that they were going to back down. The men had come out here because they had seen Jason’s Legion killing the soldiers, and now they were ready to lay their lives down if it meant that they could protect their wives and children.
"We won’t let you through! Inter-world scum! If you want to get to them, then you’ll have to pass through us!"
One of the men shouted from the front as he pointed his spear at Gina, and Gina narrowed her eyes at him in annoyance! The man shook in slight fear when he saw the anger in Gina’s eyes, and he took a half step back and swallowed! Gina sighed tiredly! It was obvious that these weren’t fighters, so she couldn’t hold anything against them since they were just afraid. Gina put her hands up and spoke calmly.
"I’m not here to hurt you. I just want to talk."
"You killed all those soldiers! How can we trust you!?"
The man shouted again once he heard Gina’s words! The civilians had all seen what Gina and the other Legion members had done! They killed all the Radagan soldiers, so there was no way they would believe that Gina was just here to talk. Gina felt anger filling her heart again, and she sent another message to Jason asking him to come and help her out. Gina wasn’t good at trying to calm people down, and she knew that trying to force them to listen to her would do her no good here. Jason told Gina to relax, and in the next second, the Skyking vanished from beside Gina, and Jason appeared in its place! The dragonborn men all jumped back when they saw Jason suddenly appearing beside Gina, and many of them even fell back to their ass while looking at Jason with wide eyes.
Jason put his hand on Gina’s shoulder and nodded for her to stand down, and Gina sighed in relief as she folded her hands and allowed Jason to handle the civilians. Jason stepped forward and spoke in the Radagan tongue.
"Who’s the leader of this town?"
The civilians looked from one man to the other as they murmured quickly. Many of them were looking toward the man who had been talking to Gina, and Jason realized that the man was afraid to step forward as the leader. From what Jason remembered, the Radagan dragonborn believed in the rule of force. If there was ever a skirmish, then it was more likely that they would side with whoever was the strongest person. Did they think that Jason was only asking for the leader so that he could kill him and take over the town? Jason looked towards the leader, and he spoke in a calm voice.
"You’re the leader, aren’t you? From what I’ve seen, you and your men have been stuck inside your houses for the past few days to try and avoid the military, so why are you acting like we’ve done something horrible?"
The men were shocked by Jason’s words.
