Chapter 349: Striking A Deal
But the Soverign turned to the Ashenvalley Forest, and he felt his excitement slowly fading as he recalled the price he would have to pay for the potion.
"The body of Rumunaga. The Dragonking from legend?"
The Eternal Wanderer shook his head.
"Rumunaga is no legend. He is as real as you or I, and he has been sleeping in that forest for millennia now. If you can bring me his body, then you will acquire the means to surpass all your limitations."
The Sovereign’s face squeezed in slight distress as he looked at the forest again! He was seriously divided at that moment! On one side, he was a member of the Radagan Military, and he knew that the Forest down there was sacred! Even thinking about going in there to take the body of Rumunaga would be a sacrilegious thing! But on the other hand, the Sovereign knew that this might be his only chance to gain power! If he didn’t do this, then he was going to lose this deal, and he would never feel that thrill again! The surge of power from the Vail flowed through the Soverign’s veins once again, and the Soverign felt his resolve strengthening as he narrowed his eyes at the Forest!
What exactly was the point of keeping that body there in the first place? The Soverign had never heard anyone speak about the body before, and most of the civilians and soldiers thought that Rumunaga was just a myth from legend! Getting rid of it wouldn’t change anything at all! No one would miss it!
The Sovereign turned back to the Eternal Wanderer, and he asked him a serious question.
"What do you need to use the body for?"
The Eternal Wanderer’s smile never left his face.
"I apologise, but I cannot tell you that information. I am bound by a magical oath not to share details of my other dealings with any of my customers. All you need to know is that the buyer will make very good use of it."
The Soverign frowned, but he didn’t bother trying to get any information out of the man since he knew that J had only spoken the truth. It was common knowledge that Eternal Wanderers don’t speak of their deals with customers. They would rather die than betray their customers’ confidence!
"How long do I have to get the body?"
The Soverign asked this, and J shook his head.
"There is no set time limit. But it would be appreciated if you could deliver it as quickly as possible. I am sure you would also appreciate having your potions quicker, wouldn’t you?"
The Sovereign nodded calmly before he finally agreed.
"Fine. I’ll find the body and bring it to you as soon as possible."
J smiled even wider at that, and he put his hand out towards the Soverign to make a magical contract with him. The Sovereign took J’s hand, and there was a bright white light as they entered into a magical contract for the deal. J put his hand on his chest and bowed to the Sovereign before speaking.
"It is a pleasure to be in business with you. I shall be waiting eagerly for your successful retrieval."
Twoom!
A Dimensional Tear suddenly cut across the space behind J, and J turned and walked through it before it closed up again. Once J was gone, the Soverign looked over at the Forest once again, and he wondered how in the world he was going to do this. The Sovereign knew that there was no way he would be able to go into that forest and begin snooping around without having the full force of the Dragonkin breathing down his neck immediately! Not only would the dragons attack him, but the Dragonborn would also try to kill him for his actions. The Sovereign realised that he needed protection! He needed a way to make sure the civilians and soldiers couldn’t go against him while also ensuring that he had enough men to face the dragons when the time came! And it was obvious what he had to do.
The previous king had just died, and the people of Radagan were about to crown a new king. But as far as the Sovereign knew, he was still the strongest man in this world. If he couldn’t gain the support of the people, then he would have to force them to support him! And that was how the Soverign had begun his coup and overthrown the government.
’I was so close. I just needed to convince the soldiers to enter the Forest and find Rumunaga for me. Why did this have to happen when I was so close!?’
The Sovereign squeezed his hand into a tight fist as his eyes narrowed into a glare! He was so close! Just a few more days, and he would’ve been able to convince the soldiers that they needed to subjugate the dragons! But with this attack, it was like the Sovereign’s plans had been thrown right out the window! He would have to start worrying about rebuilding before he could bring the army’s focus back to the forest again!
The Sovereign took in a deep breath and finally managed to calm himself. It wasn’t the end just yet. Even with this attack, the Sovereign just had to work toward putting the army back on the right track! He was going to go out and deal with this Lich as quickly as possible, and when he was done, he would take his army and raid that fucking forest!
The Sovereign felt for the power inside him, and he frowned when he noticed that his strength had been reduced by nearly twenty percent. On any other soldier, that would have been a very massive drop in abilities, but the Soverign knew that it wouldn’t make much of a difference! He was so powerful that even at half his power, he was still stronger than most SS Ranks out there!
DOON!
But all of a sudden, the Soverign stopped as he felt an intense pressure fill the air around him! He looked out the window at the side immediately, and his eyes narrowed as he saw a large dragon charging up its dragonbreath! The Soverign thought that the dragon was going to fire at his location, but he was surprised when the dragon lifted its head slightly and fired towards one of the towers in the castle!
TWOOM!
KA-BOOM!
The dragon’s breath was like a laser beam that tore through the sky and eradicated everything in its path, and the Soverign felt the entire castle shaking under his feet from that one attack! What the hell!? Did the Radagan Army have a dragon that was that strong!? No, there was no way! That dragon was almost at the same level as the Sovereign’s dragon! The Soverign began wondering what the hell the dragon had been trying to do when it released its dragonbreath towards the tower, but it didn’t take long for another roar to echo through the air as a second dragon charged towards the first one!
’Trigon?’
The Soverign suddenly realised that the dragon had fired its dragonbreath towards his own dragon! What in the world was that bastard doing—
SWOOSH!
CLANG!
The Soverign suddenly turned around and brought up his sword to block an attack from right beside him, and he narrowed his eyes once again as he saw a strange-looking woman standing there. The woman had a purple aura around her, and her eyes were deep purple that glowed with strange power! The woman had tried to stab the Soverign in the neck, but the Soverign’s instincts were too sharp for her to get past! The Sovereign couldn’t help but wonder where the woman had come from, but he refocused when he saw a large wave of ice flowing out from the woman’s sword! The Sovereign immediately unleashed his aura from his body and shattered her ice with it before he slashed his sword across the air to get rid of her! The sword cleaved the woman in two, and she suddenly burst into black ash and fell to the ground, but before he could think about her strange death, another man appeared from the left and attacked him with two large swords!
Clang!
