Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Secret Mission Part I
Now Victoria decided to put on another act after having a great night with her husband. She hadn’t expected Matthias to plan everything so carefully, especially since he’d bought her a knee-length dress before going to work. She was even more impressed by her husband’s increasingly sweet and attentive demeanor.
She was becoming increasingly impatient to destroy Gianna’s reputation. She had devised various cunning plans to discourage Gianna from opposing her again. Since her father’s sudden death, she had suspected Gianna of murder. She recalled that her father had seemed healthier the last time she visited him.
If her father’s will was forged, Victoria could already guess that the forgery was her father and Gianna’s personal attorney. Now she had to break into the D&C Group building to find further evidence. Whether the original will was still in storage.
Even though she was confident about doing all this on her own, she was also afraid. Could she really do it without anyone else’s help? Should she call Ansel for help?
Victoria invited Ansel to her home to discuss plans to infiltrate the D&C Group building. She didn’t want to involve him, as he would surely report this important matter to Matthias. Can Ansel be trusted to keep her secret now?
"By the way, are you serious about sneaking into your stepmother’s office?" Ansel asked with a worried look.
"Because this is the only way I can end this quickly. I don’t want to let her live in peace after she killed my father and tried to kill me two years ago."
"But how are you going to infiltrate?" Ansel massaged his temples. "I can help you, but I think it’s quite dangerous. I’m just warning you."
"I don’t want to live apart from Matthias anymore. I don’t want Matthias to live a miserable life controlled by my stepmother either."
Ansel exhaled sharply. "Okay, I’ll help you infiltrate. Just tell me when to infiltrate."
"Maybe tomorrow night I will do it."
"This fast?"
"So what? Isn’t the sooner the better?"
"But if Matthias finds out, he will kill me!"
"That’s why I want you to keep this a secret. I don’t want him to find out. I don’t want to bother him anymore."
Ansel rolled his eyes and slapped his forehead. "Victoria, are you sure you don’t need Matthias? Isn’t he the most reliable person in this matter?"
"Matthias has sacrificed everything for me several times. If I had gone this far, I’m sure he wouldn’t have let me do it."
"You didn’t involve him in this because you were intentionally bothering him. You can’t do everything on your own. I suggest you think this through more carefully.

Even though Ansel had promised to keep his friend’s secret, he still didn’t want to let his best friend undertake this dangerous mission alone. He eventually met with Matthias in secret to report this important matter so his friend wouldn’t act foolishly. He silently apologized to his friend for his sudden betrayal.
Hearing Ansel’s story about his wife’s current plans, Matthias couldn’t help but feel angry, as if he were his wife, she would have done the same. Instead, he patted Ansel’s shoulder enthusiastically.
"Thank you for telling me this."
"I hope you can stop her from doing this stupid thing."
"No. I’ll still let her do it."
Ansel rolled his eyes. "What if something happens to her?"
"Don’t worry. I have my own plans to keep her safe."
"But, why aren’t you angry? Don’t you usually get angry whenever she does something dangerous in secret?"
"Because I know Victoria is a strong, independent woman who faces all her problems on her own. If I get too involved, she’ll resent me and hate me. That’s why I don’t want to stop her."
Ansel smiled warmly as he took a sip of coffee. "You’re truly the only man worthy of her husband. If I were her husband, I’d still have trouble recognizing her personality."
"That’s why I haven’t let you date her until now. I just want you to remain her personal bodyguard."
"Yes, don’t worry. I will always remember your words."

Today was the day that would determine whether her plan would go smoothly or not. Victoria had contacted Ansel to drive her to the D&C Group building late at night. The dark office atmosphere at night made her shiver. She was actually quite afraid of the dark, and usually Matthias was always with her. However, now she wanted to try doing it all alone. After all, she was more afraid of facing death.
Now Victoria entered the legal team’s area, relying solely on her phone’s flashlight to assist her. Meanwhile, Ansel was solely tasked with guarding the front of the room, protecting her from the building’s security guards.
Fortunately, it was easy for her to access her father’s lawyer’s desk because her fingerprints were recorded in the system. She immediately entered the office and searched for documents related to her father’s death or the years of financial reporting manipulation her stepmother had been doing.
While searching through the cupboards and bookshelves for documents, she suddenly heard footsteps, startling her. At first, she thought they were Ansel’s, but upon closer inspection, she realized they weren’t his. Furthermore, the whistling sound was familiar, causing her to panic.
At the same time, she heard Ansel’s voice in the headphones.
"Victoria, you better hide now. That man just came."
"What?" Victoria wanted to find a place to hide, but where should she hide now?
"That man immediately went into that room. I’m also hiding now."
"I think I have to go out now. I can’t hide here."
Victoria ran out of the room and slammed the door shut before she could be caught. Every time she panicked, she couldn’t think clearly. Now she had to hide. The whistling sound was getting louder.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her right hand and ran somewhere, almost making her scream. The person led her to hide behind a wall and covered her mouth with his hand.
