Chapter 159: Chapter 159: I Miss My Wife
Amber was actually still doubting whether Matthias truly wanted to marry her, after hearing Fransisca’s words. It was quite impossible for Matthias to suddenly want to marry her after ending his relationship with Victoria. Furthermore, she had noticed Matthias’s inattentiveness on several occasions. This was what annoyed her, as Matthias had ignored her all this time. Was Matthias still not completely over Victoria?
"Don’t worry, Matthias really loves me now. He even loves spending time with me, just to accompany me to my wedding dress fitting. He actually invited me to dinner earlier, but since you suddenly asked me to meet, I had to cancel our date."
Fransisca lowered her head. "I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have interrupted your date."
"It’s okay. I shouldn’t be selfish. Because, you’ve helped me so much all this time."
"I didn’t actually help you much. It’s just that we happened to have the same goals." Fransisca took a sip of champagne irritably. Actually, she also wanted to get rid of Amber for preventing her from developing a relationship with Matthias.
"Since everything is going smoothly, what do you want to plan now?"
"Of course, I will improve my company’s condition which has been very bad lately."
"So, how about your love life?"
"For now, I’m not interested in romance. I’m still pursuing my career. I’ve achieved everything I wanted, so why should I be selfish any longer?"
"You’re right. If I were you, I’d definitely be enjoying my life right now."
In fact, Fransisca isn’t satisfied with her current achievements. Her ultimate goal is to marry Matthias. If she does, everyone will be even more supportive of her leadership of the D&C Group.

Meanwhile, Matthias couldn’t sleep peacefully after choosing Amber’s wedding dress. He was actually fed up with spending his free time with a woman who always made him angry. At a time like this, he still wanted to call his beloved woman before bed. What was Victoria doing in such a big house? Was she always crying before bed? Or was she like him, wanting to video call before bed?
He had actually been quite patient in refraining from contacting Victoria directly. Whenever he missed his beloved, he would always call Ansel to give him daily updates. As a consequence of missing his beloved, he finally decided to contact Ansel again.
"Matthias, I’m actually really sick of you. Am I your wife? If you really miss Victoria, you should contact her directly."
"I want to contact her, but Victoria will think I’m being too soft on her. I have to act like this to make it seem like I want the divorce."
"But you can’t help yourself. You’re really bad, Matthias."
"The only person I can rely on is you, Ansel. That’s why I gave you this rather daunting mission earlier."
"You don’t need to worry too much about Victoria. She’s always been fine. In fact, she seems to be eating quite regularly, and she sleeps soundly every time I pick her up and drop her off."
"Anyway, you have to maintain your position as his personal bodyguard until that day."
"But, do you have to go this far? You’ll have to sacrifice your current position, too."
"It’s okay. This is all so I can marry Victoria in peace. I don’t want another miscarriage just because of the problems we’ve been having."
After a brief phone conversation with Ansel, Matthias decided to get some fresh air in the garden of his family home. Although the night air was quite chilly, his breathing was a little labored since he wasn’t living with the woman he loved in the same house. Now he was diving into the world of the battlefield to end it all more effectively.
Suddenly he felt someone putting a jacket on him, making him spontaneously turn around to look at his grandfather.
"Grandpa, what are you doing here?"
"Now I want to ask you. Why are you here alone?"
Matthias lowered his head for a moment. "Because I couldn’t sleep."
"Is it because you miss Victoria now?"
Matthias’s eyes widened. "How did you know, Grandpa?"
Charles laughed heartily as he led his grandson to a garden bench. "I’ve known your personality all too well. You’re usually cold, but because of one woman, you suddenly transform into a warm man. I admit, only Victoria can change that arrogant attitude of yours."
"But now I can’t contact her as much as I want. Everyone is watching Amber and me because Amber spread the news of our wedding on social media."
"You don’t have to worry about her too much. Actually, I had a chance to talk to her earlier."
"Really? So, how is she doing? Has her face gotten thinner? Is she eating well?"
"I knew you were still crazy about her." Charles held his grandson’s hand. "Victoria has missed you all this time, too. She told me earlier that I had to make sure you didn’t hate her and didn’t forget her."
"It’s impossible for me to forget her. I think about her all the time. Even when I accompanied Amber to her wedding dress fitting, all I could think about was Victoria."
"Matthias, if you really miss her, you should at least ask her to meet you."
"I can only meet her as a business partner. I’ll meet her the day after tomorrow."
"You shouldn’t waste this opportunity. You could at least ask how she’s doing."
"Grandpa, can you stay with Victoria for these three weeks? I don’t want her to be alone."
"Of course. In fact, I’d like to take this opportunity to chat with her as much as I like."
Matthias laughed awkwardly as he stared up at the empty night sky. "I miss looking at the stars with Victoria before bed. She loves stargazing."
"You two are truly a perfect match. You’ve always loved stargazing yourself."
"Meanwhile, Amber doesn’t like things like this. This is what makes me not want to marry her, actually."
"Then, at your wedding, what will you do to her?"
