Chapter 203: Chapter 203: Old Friend Or First Love?

Matthias was startled to hear a familiar female voice suddenly while he was about to go on a date with his wife. He slowly turned around and stared at the familiar figure, his expression blank. He had actually known this woman for a long time, but they had been separated for a while because she had returned to town first.

Meanwhile, Victoria was starting to feel uncomfortable with this situation. Who exactly was this woman? How did Matthias and her know each other? Was this woman’s personality similar to Amber’s? Victoria hoped this woman was a good woman and indeed an old friend of Matthias’s.

"I never thought we’d meet in a place like this, Laura." Matthias extended his right hand. "How are you?"

Laura gripped her old friend’s hand tightly. "Of course, I’ve been fine." She snapped her fingers briefly. "Oh, I actually stopped by your office earlier. But your assistant said you were visiting another office."

Now Victoria understood the important guest she’d been talking about. She’d been holding back her jealousy, as Laura was just as sweet as she was. Judging by Laura’s pious face, she began to suspect that Matthias and Laura were more than just friends. Why was Laura still after Matthias? Was this meeting just a coincidence?

Matthias nodded, then released his friend’s hand and openly embraced his wife’s shoulder. "I forgot to introduce my wife to you."

Laura smiled kindly at her friend’s wife, who was just as beautiful as her. She was actually quite jealous of her friend’s happy life with the perfect woman.

"Actually, I’ve heard a lot about your wife. Her name is Victoria, right? News articles about you have been going viral on the internet lately."

Victoria extended her right hand to Laura. "Yes, I’m Victoria. Nice to meet you too, Laura."

Laura held Victoria’s hand for a moment, then looked back at her handsome friend. "You’re so lucky to have Victoria. She’s prettier than Amber."

"By the way, when did you come back to town? Why didn’t you tell me the good news?" His right hand patted his friend’s arm briefly.

"Actually, I just got back too. But I was thinking about how you’re doing. Especially since you’ve been facing some major issues lately." Laura looked at the luxury watch on her left wrist. "I’m actually very happy to see you again. I won’t interrupt your date for now."

Matthias shook his head quickly. "It’s okay. If you want to join us, I have no problem with it."

Victoria was disappointed to hear her husband had taken the initiative to invite another woman to join him. Was Laura actually Matthias’s ex-girlfriend? Why hadn’t he told her about this? Was their romance painful enough for him to forget?

"It’s okay, Matthias. I don’t want to make your wife jealous. I’d like to visit your office tomorrow. Actually, there’s something important I want to discuss with you."

"Okay, then I will wait for you tomorrow."

Laura hurriedly left the couple at the restaurant.

Now only Matthias and Victoria were left who were still looking for a seat for them. Although Laura no longer showed the bridge of her nose, Victoria still couldn’t help feeling jealous of her husband smiling happily when communicating with other women.

His eyes immediately fell on an empty seat for two, located near the window. Victoria immediately pulled her husband’s hand toward it and took a seat.

Victoria still felt reluctant to speak, feeling awkward about the situation. Was it appropriate for her to ask about Laura and Matthias’s true relationship?

"Why didn’t you ask me?" Matthias asked suddenly, surprising Victoria.

"Asking about your relationship with Laura?"

"Aren’t you jealous seeing me so close to another woman?"

Victoria looked down, fidgeting with her dress. "Actually, I’m jealous. But I’m worried you’ll make fun of me."

Matthias laughed so hard his face turned red. "Tory, there’s no way I’d tease you just because you’re jealous. Didn’t you often get jealous when you saw me getting close to Amber?"

"But Laura looks cuter than me. That’s what makes me jealous now. Moreover, she looks very friendly, you also really like friendly women." Finally, Victoria couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer. "Could it be that Laura is your first love?"

Matthias lifted his wife’s chin with an intense gaze. "What makes you think Laura and I were dating?"

"If you two never dated, it seems impossible. You seemed very friendly and sweet to her earlier. You look so comfortable when you’re with her."

"I knew you were jealous. But you didn’t dare show it openly." He leaned closer to her. "Laura wasn’t my first love, in fact, you were."

Her cheeks immediately flushed red at her husband’s sweet talk. "You don’t have to sweet talk me either."

"Laura and I were like Sawyer and I. We were really close back then, and I even preferred hanging out with Laura over Amber."

Victoria folded her arms. "But is it true that you two have never dated? Isn’t it impossible for a man and a woman to be just friends?"

Meanwhile, Laura was still searching for a suitable restaurant for dinner alone. She was actually quite jealous because her best friend had now married a woman more beautiful than her. If only she had had the courage to confess her feelings to Matthias first, perhaps she would be having a romantic dinner with him by now.

Even though she still really liked Matthias, that didn’t mean she wanted to openly destroy their relationship. For some reason, seeing Matthias smile naturally and happily when he was with Victoria made her happy too.

She finally found a suitable restaurant for dinner alone. As she walked into the parking lot, a short distance from the restaurant, she was suddenly surrounded by a group of thugs.

"What do you want?"

One of the thugs wanted to touch her, but she quickly beat him using a sling bag.

"Don’t come any closer!" Laura screamed in fear.

"What did you do to her?!" A familiar male voice screamed, startling Laura.
