Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Little Surprise
Before visiting her father in the hospital, Victoria naturally had to finish her work. After lunch with her husband, she wanted to stay at the hospital all day. After all, she had promised her father that she would bring her husband along. Now, Matthias and Devan’s relationship was growing, making Victoria’s happiness a reality.
Since becoming pregnant, Victoria has been making frequent trips to the bathroom due to morning sickness. However, she can’t complain, as it’s inevitable for pregnant women. For the sake of having a child to accompany her family, she won’t complain. Besides, Louis has been a big help now and hasn’t let her work too hard.
"Victoria, you shouldn’t work too hard. Besides, every time you leave the office, I’m the one who helps you with it," Louis said with a worried look.
"It’s okay. You’re not my husband, Louis. I don’t want you to bother me either."
Louis rolled his eyes. "It’s precisely because your husband keeps ordering me to help you that I’m forced to do it."
Victoria pursed her lips and folded her arms. "Why don’t you ever complain when he’s always giving you a hard time? I should be the one scolding him."
Louis smiled casually as he patted his partner’s shoulder. "Actually, I wanted to comply so your relationship wouldn’t be ruined like before. I really hate seeing you two fighting all the time, even though you’re so sweet."
Victoria also sincerely hoped so. She was tired of fighting with her husband over trivial matters. However, he still refused to share anything, even though she had provoked him last night. She was still a little disappointed. That’s why she wanted to spend more time with him today so she could talk frankly about her problems.
"Louis, if Matthias doesn’t dare to tell me anything about the problems he’s facing, does that mean he doesn’t trust me?"
"Wait a minute! Since when did he do something like that? Haven’t you two always been open with each other?"
"I’ve been thinking he’s been acting really strange lately. I’ve also heard from someone that Matthias is actually hiding something important." Her lips curled into a pout. "He’s always telling me to open up to him, but he’s reluctant to do so."
"Actually, he didn’t do it that way because he didn’t trust you. But he was confused about how to convey it to you."
"I wouldn’t have scolded him if he’d just talked to me. But now, I’m a little disappointed in him."
"He doesn’t hate you. But he’s worried that you’ll distance yourself from him if you find out the truth."
Suddenly, the handsome CEO, who had just been discussed, entered the studio owner’s room, carrying various shopping bags. His charming smile instantly melted Victoria’s heart. She decided not to hate her husband for now, because he looked so sweet now.
"Matty, it seems you came too early."
Matthias placed the shopping bags on the table and hugged his wife enthusiastically. "Of course, since I’m done with my work at the office, I came straight to you."
Louis rolled his eyes as he straightened his jacket. "I think I should get out of here soon so I don’t become a nuisance."
Victoria shook her head quickly. "It’s okay. Thanks for helping me out lately, Louis."
Matthias quickly handed Louis a shopping bag. "Since you’ve worked so hard all this time, you deserve a reward from me."
Louis immediately took the shopping bag enthusiastically. "You’re the best at this. Thank you, Matthias. I won’t hesitate to continue helping your wife." Louis swiftly walked out of the room.
Now, only the husband and wife remained in the room, still staring at each other. Victoria could only shake her head at her husband’s seemingly innocent expression, her arms folded.
"So, now you always bribe Louis to help me diligently?"
"If I don’t reward him, he will be very reluctant to help you. I really know his character"
"No wonder I wondered why Louis never complained. It turns out he’s been expecting something in return from you all this time." Victoria stared at her stomach for a moment. "My child, you must not be like your father. That’s not right."
Matthias laughed heartily, slowly stroking his wife’s head. "Our child will agree with me. Because I’m really worried about you. If you overexert yourself, you’ll get sick."
Victoria kissed her husband’s cheek repeatedly. "Every morning you make me chicken soup. I’m feeling pretty good now."
"I’m still really worried about you." Matthias took all the food he’d bought out of his shopping bag. "Since you mentioned you had a lot of work to do, we can have lunch together here. I brought all your favorite foods."
Victoria’s eyes sparkled as she stared at the mango sticky rice displayed before her. "Matthias, you know perfectly well how much I’m craving for mango sticky rice right now. And yet, there are rarely any sellers in this town."
"Because before you went to bed yesterday, you told me you wanted mango sticky rice. That’s why I immediately went looking for it at all the Thai restaurants today. It’s a bit far from my office, but I managed to find it."
Victoria immediately embraced her husband happily, causing them to lie on the sofa. Matthias was surprised to see his wife’s increasingly spoiled behavior just because he bought her Thai food. He smiled happily as he stared at the red lips in front of him, which had been teasing him the entire time.
"Victoria, if you ask me a riddle, I can definitely answer it."
"Then, I’m going to ask you a difficult question. I’m sure you’ll have a hard time answering it."
"What question is that?"
Victoria’s expression turned serious. "Matthias, are you really—"
drrt...drrt...
Suddenly, her phone vibrated on the table, forcing her to postpone her question. Furthermore, the person calling her was from the hospital, making her face pale.
As he spoke with the hospital staff for a short time, his vision became increasingly blurry and he almost lost consciousness.
