Chapter 43 A Game

Upon hearing the questioning tone, the person reporting Qin Mei's death shuddered and lowered his head further.

"What happened!" the man's heart sank at the sight.

"It was… it was supposed to be brought out by our inside contact mixed with the discarded items, but… I don't know how… it just… disappeared…" the reporter's voice trailed off.

"Useless!" The man roughly grabbed the reporter's collar and said, "The扣章 (kòu zhāng) is the organization's internal identification token. It must not fall into the hands of outsiders!"

The reporter naturally knew the importance of the扣章, but… it was gone!

"Find it!" The man's head throbbed with anger. He shoved the reporter away, his eyes darkening with malice, "Don't make me personally strip you of your扣章."

Hearing this, the reporter shivered again and immediately replied, "Yes," before stumbling out.

He knew very well what losing the扣章 meant.

"Useless! A bunch of useless people!" The man propped his hands on the table edge, rubbing his throbbing temples with his other hand.

This mission had been extremely unlucky.

He had intended to create a scheme to enrich the organization on one hand, and plant a time bomb in the Lei family on the other, eliminating a thorn in the organization's side.

But how could something that was supposed to go smoothly be ruined by a woman!

Not only that, but he had also lost several elites, and even Qin Mei, a pawn he had planted in the Lei family long ago, was completely useless now!

"Xia Qingtian…" the muscles on the man's face twitched slightly with rage.

This woman who ruined everything had to die!

He took a deep breath. Fine.

Originally, his main mission for returning to the country was to transport that batch of goods. Everything else was secondary. As long as the goods were safe, it was fine.

Just then, the room door was frantically knocked upon and then shoved open. His subordinate's voice was anxious, "Something has happened to that batch of goods!"

"What!" Hearing this, the man was so enraged he almost suffocated.

The subordinate then reported the police raid, the seizure of the goods, and the arrest of many of their men.

"Damn it!" The man's face turned a sickly green.

This batch of goods was under his direct supervision for transportation. No outsider should have known about it.

How… could this happen…

Just then, the man's phone rang. The caller ID displayed a strange string of numbers.

Looking at the numbers, the man felt as if he had been doused with a bucket of ice water. He froze for a long moment before waving his subordinate away. Once he was alone in the room, he answered the call.

A synthesized voice on the other end said, "Long time no see. Say hello to Gaia for me."

"It's you…" Hearing the synthesized voice, the man's eyes widened abruptly, "Mobius!"

This damned Mobius!

The most mysterious entity on the world hacker rankings, always acting against the organization. He had personally led this team precisely to guard against this scoundrel, only to have this happen again…

"Let's play a game," Mobius's fingertips tapped lightly on the keyboard, a subtle smile playing on his lips. "I've set up a timed system. In three minutes, your current location will be automatically published to the local police. In fifteen minutes, your fake IDs will be automatically revoked. In thirty minutes, your real identity information, along with your forged information, will be shared with the police system. In one hour, the nationwide manhunt game officially begins."

"Mobius, you bastard! How dare you!" Hearing Mobius's words, the man trembled, his eyes filled with disbelief.

"The game begins." With Mobius's synthesized voice, an enter key was pressed.

"You!" The man gritted his teeth unwillingly but only had time to warn, "Mobius, keep hiding. Sooner or later! Sooner or later, we will find you, you damned scoundrel, and make sure you have nowhere to be buried!"

After cursing, the man directly hung up. Without time to vent his anger, he strode out of the room and loudly commanded, "Everyone, emergency evacuation!"

As the man's words fell, everyone started to move.

Making preparations for retreat at the fastest pace, the man directly got into the car heading to the private airport.

"What about Xia Qingtian and Qin Mei's扣章?" the subordinate who had reported Qin Mei's death asked nervously.

"For Qin Mei's扣章, let our mole in Country Z investigate," the man's gaze flickered, his tone carrying a hint of unwillingness. "As for Xia Qingtian… let her live a few more days for now."

She had messed with the organization's affairs. This Xia Qingtian, along with that damned Mobius, would not be allowed to live!

Killing them was only a matter of time. For now, preserving the overall situation was the most important thing.

On the other side, Mobius snorted as he watched the rapidly moving golden dots on his computer screen.

Those who dared to touch his people should have expected the price they would have to pay.

Just then, an information window popped up on the computer screen.

【Mobius God! Thank you so much, you've helped us police seize another batch of contraband!】

【It's what I should do.】 Mobius's fingertips tapped lightly on the keyboard.

【They said they want to give you an award.】

【No need.】 Mobius did not want the outside world to know who he was. While the title of the world's number one hacker sounded good, it also came with endless dangers.

The organizations that wanted to eliminate him, big and small, could form a World Cup if gathered.

After replying with this sentence, Mobius went offline immediately.

"God is indeed God, capable and low-key!" Watching Mobius's avatar turn completely dark, the pretty girl sitting in front of the computer cupped her cheeks, looking smitten.

"Stop daydreaming," her male colleague, passing by, nudged her head. "What about the previous kidnapping case?"

"That case was handled by the Lei family, and it's almost closed now," the pretty girl said, rubbing her head. "I have to go to the Lei family tomorrow to meet the victim and record a final statement. Once I've verified the details and written the report, it'll be over."

"You're going back to the Lei family? Isn't that like going home?" the male colleague said with a smile.

"Shut up!" The pretty girl shot him a glare. "Want to go instead?"

"Fairy Yun descending to handle the case, you've worked hard," the male colleague immediately stopped his playful demeanor and scooted away. "I'll go buy the fairy some milk tea!"

Only then did the pretty girl give him a disdainful look and shift her gaze back to the unfinished report, sighing.

She really loved her job: punishing evil, upholding good, bringing justice, solving cases, and avenging the wronged!

But why were all the cases that landed in her hands these boring, closing-up tasks…

Despite her slight dissatisfaction, she dutifully appeared at the Lei family the next day and met the victim of this case: Xia Qingtian.

After a brief greeting, the routine questioning began. Once she clarified some issues, she knew how to write the report.

Taking a deep breath, she was about to take her leave when she heard Xia Qingtian say apologetically, "Excuse me, I need to take a call."

"No problem, you go ahead."

Xia Qingtian then smiled faintly and answered the phone, "Hello? Mobius?"

"!" The pretty girl's hand froze, and she immediately looked at Xia Qingtian, her eyes wide with shock.

Was this Mobius the Mobius she was thinking of?
