Chapter 27 Entering the Mountains (3)

Qi Zhenzhen did not relax. The brown bear had left, but the white wolf showed no signs of leaving. Did this white wolf have some intention?

Compared to the brown bear, a wolf was naturally less of a threat.

With a bronze head, iron bones, and a tofu waist, she was confident she could win a standoff against the white wolf.

"Awoo, little girl, don't be nervous," the white wolf retreated a couple of steps. "I just wanted to confirm, do you really understand animal languages?"

Qi Zhenzhen nodded. "I don't understand all animal languages. I can only communicate with those like you and the brown bear. For wild boars, rabbits, and the like, communication is impossible."

Upon hearing this, the white wolf gave Qi Zhenzhen a deep look and quickly disappeared into the jungle.

The white wolf's gaze was somewhat obscure and unreadable, and Qi Zhenzhen couldn't guess why.

Putting it aside, she had managed to save these two people. If she had encountered unreasonable beasts, Qi Zhenzhen would have had to be ruthless today.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Qi Zhenzhen moved closer to check on the two men.

The young man being protected was unharmed and would likely wake up soon. The other young man she had seen was in a more serious condition, with a rapid and irregular pulse, indicating a severe internal injury.

Qi Zhenzhen was troubled. How could she get these two out of the mountain? She couldn't carry both of them.

After some thought, Qi Zhenzhen decided to wake up the uninjured person. He was merely unconscious, and a firm pinch on his philtrum would suffice.

Qian Yuanbao felt a searing pain on his upper lip, bringing tears to his eyes. He opened his eyes to see a skinny little girl squatting in front of him, her hand still on his upper lip.

"Are you trying to pinch me to death? We don't know each other, and we have no grudges. Do you have to be so rough?" Qian Yuanbao shouted.

"You're awake, so get up quickly and carry your friend out of the mountain," Qi Zhenzhen said coldly. This person was truly very noisy.

Qian Yuanbao was greatly alarmed. He forgot the pain in his lip and knelt beside Gu Sinian, his face full of worry.

"Don't dawdle. You were lucky just now, otherwise, you two would be in the belly of a brown bear by now," Qi Zhenzhen said with a frown. Brown bears and white wolves had appeared earlier, and there might be other fierce beasts. She couldn't guarantee that all fierce beasts were as reasonable as the brown bear and white wolf, who had left because of her words.

Qian Yuanbao hadn't seen the brown bear, but he knew that if it weren't for a fierce beast, Gu Sinian wouldn't be in such a sorry state.

"Are you the one who shot the arrow earlier?" Qian Yuanbao sized up Qi Zhenzhen.

Qi Zhenzhen did not hide it and nodded. "Yes."

"You saved us?" Qian Yuanbao didn't believe it, but there was no one else here.

"Sort of?" Qi Zhenzhen nodded. "I traded a wild boar for you. The brown bear probably knew that human flesh isn't tasty, so it carried the wild boar away. Hurry up, there isn't a second wild boar to trade for you now."

Traded them for a wild boar? Did that mean their value was equivalent to that of a wild boar?

Seeing him kneeling there blankly and not moving, Qi Zhenzhen frowned. "Aren't you leaving? Then I'm leaving. I haven't lived enough to foolishly stay here and feed the wild beasts with you."

"Hey, little girl, don't go, give me a hand, help me lift him," Qian Yuanbao snapped back to his senses and called out to Qi Zhenzhen.

"Little girl?" Qi Zhenzhen narrowed her eyes and looked at Qian Yuanbao. This person was not only noisy but also very rude. She should have let the brown bear carry him away. She originally only wanted to save the other person; he was just an afterthought.

Qian Yuanbao looked at Qi Zhenzhen again. She was thin and not tall, so wasn't she just a little girl?

However, this little girl seemed a bit unhappy. Well, since she had saved them, he should show her some respect.

"Miss, it's Miss. I spoke too quickly and offended you. Miss is magnanimous, don't be angry with me," Qian Yuanbao said ingratiatingly.

Qi Zhenzhen nodded slightly and helped to support him from the side.

Qian Yuanbao staggered a few steps before steadying himself, muttering to himself that although she looked thin, carrying him was not easy at all.

Leaving the mountain was much slower than entering it, as the two behind them couldn't walk fast.

Qi Zhenzhen sighed inwardly. Today was a wasted effort. If that wild boar had been intact, it could have been sold for more than one tael of silver, right?

Around the outskirts of the mountain, a careless rabbit ran into her. Qi Zhenzhen didn't even need to nock an arrow; she simply threw a small stone and knocked the rabbit unconscious.

Qian Yuanbao clicked his tongue. He hadn't expected this girl to have such good skills. Her movements were fast and agile, and most importantly, she was accurate. That rabbit had been darting quickly, and she had knocked it out in the time it took to raise her hand.

The Qi family was located at the foot of the mountain. After leaving the mountain, it wasn't long before they arrived.

The three of them made quite a spectacle. Zhang Xiaoniu came to greet them from afar. "Zhenzhen, you're amazing! You only went out for a while and already caught a rabbit. My second brother once roamed the mountains all day and only caught one rabbit."

Zhang Erniu's old face turned red. His younger brother would say anything to praise Miss Qi.

Qian Yuanbao secretly sized up the two people who came to greet them. The younger one must have feelings for this skinny girl, judging by his fawning expression.

Qi Zhenzhen ignored Zhang Xiaoniu and spoke directly to Zhang Erniu. "Second Brother Zhang, these two were encountered in the mountains. One of them was slapped by a brown bear and is unconscious. Please help invite Doctor Mo to take a look."

Qian Yuanbao wanted to refuse. This looked like a small village. What good doctor could there be in a village? What if the treatment was delayed?

However, they had entered the mountain from another direction, and their horses and manpower were all there. Moreover, Ah Nian was in no condition to ride a horse. What should they do?

Qian Yuanbao had always felt that nothing could stump him, but now, he felt a deep sense of frustration.

"What are you standing there for? Carry him in," Qi Zhenzhen turned back and saw him standing there dumbfounded, unable to help but raise her voice. Had this kid hit his head and become slow-witted?

Qian Yuanbao gritted his teeth. He had no choice but to follow for now. After walking out of the mountains, he was almost exhausted and needed to recover his strength first.

Qi Zhenzhen led them to the shed where Zhang Erniu and Zhang Xiaoniu slept. Zhang Xiaoniu looked displeased, but since Zhenzhen had asked them to come in, he couldn't go against her.

"Not inside the house?" Qian Yuanbao was stunned. Was this the kind of place beggars lived in?

"My mother is ill, it's inconvenient," Qi Zhenzhen said.

Their family currently had only one heated brick bed. Was she supposed to make her mother give up her spot? Besides, the shed was clean and tidy; what was there to be picky about?

Qian Yuanbao looked at Qi Zhenzhen resentfully, his eyes full of accusation. Qi Zhenzhen ignored him and carried her basket home. She had to inform her mother and reassure her.
