Chapter 674: Chapter 51: Beware of the Chaotic Scene
Compared to Eleanor’s “balanced” figure, Sigrdrifa’s limbs were even more slender. Strangely, her arms, which seemed almost devoid of any muscles, were able to completely outdo Eleanor in terms of explosive power.
Furthermore, Eleanor had a pair of super invincible long legs, while Sigrdrifa’s upper and lower body proportions were even more balanced, and her skin was also whiter… It wasn’t the delicate pale skin like a porcelain doll that Peggy had, rather it was closer to a clean and refreshing milky white.
It could only be chalked up to racial differences.
Aske silently applied sunscreen to her arms, and Sigrdrifa watched him without blinking, which made the Squad Leader’s back tingle.
“Sigrdrifa suddenly said in a low voice, “Aske, do you ever feel like I’m not quite womanly?”
“Why would you say that?” Aske asked casually.
“Look, when we first met, you mistook me for a man.” Sigrdrifa smiled wryly, “I’ve always treated you like a brother… Wasn’t I pretty foolish back then?”
“Not at all,” Aske replied. “After all, you had short hair at the time, and now you’ve changed to long hair, right?”
“Is that so?” Sigrdrifa didn’t respond, instead, she lifted her leg for him to apply sunscreen to her foot.
“I actually lack confidence in that regard,” she said after a moment.
“Why would you need confidence in that area?” Aske asked, not understanding.
“I don’t want you to regard me as a man,” Sigrdrifa said in a low voice.
“I haven’t regarded you as a man,” Aske slapped her calf, “Switch legs!”
Sigrdrifa put down her left leg and propped her right leg on the edge of the sun lounger, her voice low:
“Then what do you regard me as, a pet?”
“Pfft!” Aske nearly choked on his own saliva and wiped the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, “Where did you come up with such a strange theory?”
“Of course, it’s…” Sigrdrifa sighed but didn’t continue.
“Sigrdrifa, don’t always demean yourself,” Aske said helplessly. “A person’s true value isn’t determined by others’ judgments.”
“I don’t care about the opinions of others,” Sigrdrifa said softly, “I only care about what you think.”
“If you ask me what I think, my opinion is that Sigrdrifa is an outstanding girl,” Aske said offhand. “Whether as a comrade-in-arms or as a friend, I’m very glad to have had the chance to meet her.”
“That really doesn’t sound like something you would say, Squad Leader…” Sigrdrifa was taken aback for a few seconds before she finally smiled somewhat relievedly, “Aren’t you supposed to say something like, ‘If you lack confidence, then just become stronger,’ or something like that?”
“What do you take me for?” Aske couldn’t help but laugh and cry, “All done now.”
“Thank you, Squad Leader,” Sigrdrifa rarely offered thanks and then smiled, “Now I finally understand why Medea and Nora like you so much.”
Aske:???
However, Sigrdrifa didn’t explain any further. She simply pointed a finger on Aske’s lips once, and then ran off towards the beach without looking back—there, Eleanor was playing beach volleyball with Peggy.
…What was that touch supposed to imply?
“It means ‘no need to say more, as long as you understand’,” Thira’s voice floated from behind, “A subtle confession. Tsk.”
“You’re the only one left, Thira,” Aske picked up the bottle, “Sunscreen?”
“I’ve already had Peggy apply it for me,” Thira said.
“Then what do you want from me?” Aske asked in confusion.
“What, can’t I come to talk to you without wanting you to touch me?” Thira sneered.
“Cough! What’s all this about touching? I’m just helping out for enjoyment, okay?” Aske defended himself forcibly.
“Your pants tell a different story,” Thira’s gaze lowered, a contemptuous look fleeting through her eyes.
Men, huh.
“A physiological reaction is inevitable, as long as it’s done with proper decorum,” Aske said awkwardly, feeling as if Thira’s gaze saw him as nothing more than a pile of debris.
“Done with proper decorum?” Thira repeated in Sirius’ tongue, “That’s an… interesting concept.”
“In the current team, which girl do you like best?” She leaned back in her chair, looking leisurely ahead as she asked.
“Uh…” Aske didn’t know how to answer, especially since the one asking was a girl who had said “Please consider me.”
“I personally think Nora is the best bet,” Thira went on without waiting for his response, “Wealth, family, looks, personality—she’s the perfect choice from both political and romantic perspectives. If I were you, I would definitely choose her.”
“Of course, Eleanor isn’t so bad either. A knight who carries herself with such a dashing air, even from a woman’s perspective, I have to admit she is quite a charming partner. Plus, her figure is indeed better than Nora’s, especially those long legs, tsk tsk.”
“Medea might be a bit more troublesome. On the one hand, as an Enchanting Demon, she has an innate sexual advantage which, I must admit, may offer an irresistible Seduction to men. On the other hand, this is also her disadvantage, for Enchanting Demons are eternally insatiable, never satisfied with their lust. You should maintain at least a cautious attitude towards her unless you’re not afraid of losing control from excessive indulgence,” Thira continued.
“Stop.” Aske finally found the opportunity to interrupt Thira’s analysis, “Why did you suddenly start analyzing and introducing prospective partners to me?”
“What, does talking about mate selection with me, a girl, make you feel a bit embarrassed?” Thira said with a quasi-smile, her expression seemingly teasing, “Are you shy, Squad Leader?”
“That’s not it,” Aske said, “I just think that talking behind your comrades’ backs is not a wise thing for you to do.”
“Aske, this is the point you’ve refused to acknowledge,” Thira said in a low voice, “We’re not just allies; we’re also each other’s rivals in love; shoulder to shoulder on the battlefield against enemies, while invisibly fighting against each other in the arena of love.”
“As long as you hold the power of choice, such competition will continue. Right now we’re highlighting our own strengths, but if you keep dragging your feet, there will come a day when someone will take a desperate gamble and start exploiting others’ weaknesses, leading to actions that none of us can accept.”
Aske fell silent. Thira’s warning was clear enough—make a decision soon, or the team might turn into a Chaotic Scene.
“But as soon as I make a choice, the team will face immediate disintegration,” Aske said truthfully.
Not to mention, take Nora and Eleanor for example, wouldn’t they be better off going back to being rich Nobles? Who among them truly likes being a mercenary and chose to follow me for that reason?
“Indeed,” Thira nodded, a cold smile on her lips, “So, you can only be a scumbag.”
Aske: ………
Dammit, I can’t even respond to being cursed!
“There’s actually another way,” Thira suddenly said, “Though it goes against ethics, it could be a solution for your current predicament.”
“What way?”
“Marry them all without discrimination,” Thira suggested, “Just like the Sultan of Seljuk.”
“And then one day I end up murdered in my bedroom?” Aske retorted.
“Ah, that depends on your skills,” Thira laughed, “As long as you maintain superiority in force, I don’t think that will be much of a problem.”
