Chapter 245: Chapter 253 She is More Important Than My Life
Lin Weiyang knelt on the ground clutching her neck, coughing incessantly, the bright red fingerprint on her neck glaringly obvious.
"Jing Han, I’m so tired, I want to sleep for a while." Han Xi was barely holding on.
Lu Jinghan leaned over and carried Han Xi to the nearby single bed, gently brushing his elegant fingers across her slightly messy hair: "Sleep, I’ll guard you."
Han Xi rested her head on Lu Jinghan’s lap and slowly closed her eyes, possibly because she was too exhausted, she fell asleep within minutes.
Lin Weiyang’s breathing gradually steadied, but her voice was abnormally excited: "Jing Han, I love you so, so much, why is there only this woman in your eyes? You almost strangled me just for her."
Lu Jinghan looked at Lin Weiyang as if looking at trash: "She is more important than my life, so no one can hurt her."
"We are the childhood sweethearts who grew up together, only I deserve to be Mrs. Lu. I can’t forget you, nor quit you. Jing Han, please, marry me, make me your wife."
Lu Jinghan took off his coat and covered Han Xi with it, his voice cold and impatient: "If it weren’t for Xiao Xi, I really would have strangled you just now."
Lin Weiyang’s body trembled, tears poured down her despairing eyes.
She had long known that she had no place in Lu Jinghan’s heart, but she still stubbornly challenged the undeniable fact time and again.
Lin Weiyang staggered to her feet, her desperate eyes filled with desolation. As she turned to leave, she bumped into Chen Zheng coming in from outside.
Chen Zheng frowned and glanced at Lin Weiyang; he knew her because she had caused a few scenes looking for Han Xi at the hospital before.
Chen Zheng withdrew his gaze, and the next moment saw Han Xi asleep on Lu Jinghan’s lap, his heart sour as he went back out.
......
At the break of day, Han Xi woke up and saw Lu Jinghan sitting above her, asleep. She quietly sat up, covering him with his coat.
Sensing the movement, Lu Jinghan opened his eyes, his magnetic voice dripping with the laziness of having just woken up: "Why not sleep a little more?"
"I can’t sleep anymore. You lie down and rest a bit longer. When you wake up, go back, I don’t need you to keep me company."
Han Xi was mostly worried she would delay Lu Jinghan’s work.
"I’m not going anywhere, I’m staying right here to watch over you."
Lu Jinghan wrapped Han Xi in his arms, remembering the incident with Lin Weiyang yesterday. He shuddered at the thought that his little wife might have met with misfortune if he had arrived even half a step later.
"Alright then, sleep a bit more. I’d like to go outside and have a look."
"I’ll go with you."
Lu Jinghan stood up from the single bed, reaching out to hold Han Xi’s little hand.
As soon as they stepped out of the tent, they saw Chen Zheng approaching with a medical kit, having spent the entire night without sleep. His eyes were bloodshot, and stubble covered his chin.
"Give it to me. You go inside and rest for a while," Han Xi said with concern, taking the medical kit off Chen Zheng’s shoulder.
"Okay, be careful."
Watching Chen Zheng enter the tent, Lu Jinghan took the medical kit from Han Xi’s hand: "Let’s go."
Han Xi nodded. The temporary tents erected on the ruins were everywhere, and young, strong lads were joining the police in rescue efforts.
A full day and night had passed since the earthquake, yet many people were still missing, buried beneath this rubble.
