Chapter 175: Chapter 175 Unconditional Obedience
At first, just seeing the photos and flowers, Han Xi thought Li Manman had already won Feng Yi over. She was about to marvel at her amazing speed when she saw the message Li Manman sent over and figured she was still on a mission.
Han Xi typed a few words on the screen and sent them.
[You’re so great, I’m sure there won’t be any problem.]
[The people chasing me could line up all the way to the Huangpu River, but he just acts nonchalant. Let’s see how I torment him once I get him.]
Han Xi laughed out loud at the screen. That was definitely Li Manman’s style, always keeping track of debts.
The more effort she puts in now to chase him, the more heartache Feng Yi will have to endure afterward.
Lu Jinghan occasionally glanced up at Han Xi while dealing with files on the sofa. Seeing how delighted she was, he paused his typing: "What’s making you so happy?"
Han Xi waggled her phone: "Manman said she’ll definitely torment Feng Yi once she catches him."
Lu Jinghan raised an eyebrow: "I’ve never actually seen Feng Yi in a relationship."
"I have a photo Manman sent, they really are a good match."
Curious, Lu Jinghan set down his laptop and leaned down by the hospital bed to look at the photo in Han Xi’s hand: "We’ve never taken a photo together either."
Weren’t they talking about Feng Yi and Manman? How did it suddenly...
"Should we take a few selfies now?"
Han Xi quickly put her phone away with a look of refusal: "No way, I’m wrapped in bandages and wearing hospital clothes. It’s so ugly."
"Silly, I wouldn’t mind," Lu Jinghan said, tapping Han Xi’s nose playfully, a smile on his face.
"In any case, not happening now."
Whatever his Mrs. Lu said goes, he would comply unconditionally.
Chen Zheng walked in through the door. He was here to give Han Xi an IV drip. Normally, this was a nurse’s job, but he insisted on handling it himself out of concern for Han Xi.
"Chen Zheng, you’re here." Han Xi greeted with a soft smile.
"How are you feeling today?"
Chen Zheng hung the IV bottle on the hook beside the bed and leaned down to prepare the needle for Han Xi.
"Just that the wound hurts occasionally. By the way, how is my sister?"
Han Xi’s brows furrowed slightly as the needle pierced her vein.
After fixing the needle in place, Chen Zheng straightened up and spoke: "She’s like you, temporarily unable to get out of bed, but otherwise fine. Don’t worry, with me around, just focus on getting better."
"I rely on you for that then."
Chen Zheng originally intended to pat Han Xi’s head, but just as he raised his hand, he put it down again.
She was married now, with Lu Jinghan watching nearby. Before, he felt he might still have a chance, but now that they were legally married, he knew he should respect boundaries.
Chen Zheng’s eyes hinted a concealed wistfulness and melancholy, his hands slightly tensing in uncertainty about where to place them.
"No need to be formal with me, just rest well. I’ll get back to work."
"Alright."
Chen Zheng left shortly after, and Han Xi soon fell asleep in bed. Lu Jinghan stood by the window taking a phone call, and whatever Feng Yi said on the other end visibly changed Lu Jinghan’s expression, his eyes revealing a sinister chill.
......
In the evening, Lu Jinghan lay on the hospital bed, holding Han Xi from the side. Only when the gentle, steady breathing of the woman in his arms reached him did he slowly pull his arm out from under Han Xi’s neck and get out of bed.
