Chapter 316: Chapter 316. Pervert
Virtual universe.
Secondary Carrier Alliance of the Astral Empire’s capital.
Runesmith Association.
A black haired individual with deep, enigmatic dark eyes stood before a towering pagoda with an amazed expression on his face.
" The realistic nature of the virtual universe never ceases to amaze me " he muttered to himself.
This young man was naturally Kailen.
He was currently about to partake in the rune tests to become a certified rank 0 runesmith.
He had chosen to participate in the test in the virtual universe due to the distance between the academy and the actual physical location of the Secondary Carrier Alliance in the physical world.
He was currently clad in a hoodie, some jeans and sneakers with the hoodie cap covering his head.
Kailen moved into the Runesmith Association building, bypassing several individuals and headed towards a particular sector.
Someone accidentally bumped into him along the way.
The person shouted angrily the moment Kailen bumped into her.
" Pervert! This pervert just held my breast! "
Everyone turned to look in the direction of the duo that had just started the commotion.
Many individuals stared at them with intrigue.
Naturally, people were more drawn to commotion than they were intrigued with good news, eager to see the outcome of the spectacle.
Kailen was utterly surprised at what had just happened.
The lady was the one who had bumped into him, but she was acting like she was harassed by him.
" Were you not the one to bump into me in the first place? " Kailen voiced with cold indifference, paid no heed to the lady, and passed her, entering the room for the examination.
" Just you wait, whoever you are, I’ll tell my senior brother on you when he arrives. He will make your life in the Runesmith Association very difficult "
Because he was wearing the hoodie cap, his face was almost obscured, so no one realized it was him.
Had the lady realized who she had offended, she would have probably apologized to Kailen immediately, as Kailen was not only popular in the academy, but was also regarded a cold, merciless and vengeful person who even dared to teach the Harkers and Darkhavens a lesson.
As for Kailen, he simply didn’t have time to waste on useless people right now. In order for his plans for the society to be pushed forward, he needed to become a certified runesmith.
He didn’t have any time to waste right now.

Having entered one of the rooms for the examination of rank 0 runesmiths, a holographic panel appeared before Kailen.
[ Scanning participant ...
Participant scan complete.
Name: Kailen Darkhaven
Participant number 235
Generating suitable examination.
Examination generated - Conjure a rank 0 illusion rune, a rank 0 paralytic rune in less than an hour on these artifacts respectively ]
Two artifacts appeared—the first one, a sword, and the second, a rod, floating before Kailen. These were the artifacts he was supposed to conjure the runes on.
" The AI measured my potential and generated an examination that would pose some sort of challenge to me.
Not bad, but an hour is too long.
Can’t blame the AI for failing to present an examination that could pose some challenge to me though.
Even during the simulation, I realized I have high comprehension abilities in terms of learning runes.
The comprehensive knowledge of runesmithery rank 0 has also made it so that I not only have deep knowledge and understanding on runes, I have mastery over several rank 0 runes as though I have been practicing them a thousand years. I can make these runes very quickly "
Kailen quickly got to work.
His hands moved skillfully, gaze profound, demeanor naturally calm.
His movements were simple, not complicated, yet seemed to boarder towards the preternatural.
Runes alphabets gushed freely out of his mind with ease. They were weaved into intricate constructs of illusion runes, brushing on the surface of the sword and causing it to glow faintly with ethereal, ephemeral light.
Seconds, he had done this in seconds.
Had he been a rank 0 runesmith for even a century or decade, it would have been understandable to have this level of mastery.
Yet he was just a newbie, who had not practiced runesmithery for even a month, and he had conjured a rank 0 illusion rune—one of the rune arts bordering a very high level of difficulty to construct—in seconds.
Any runesmith who saw this would question their life choices.
As quickly as he finished conjuring the illusion rune on the sword, he finished conjuring the paralytic rune on the rod.
The countdown for the exams stopped immediately when he was done.
The results that were displayed in front of him, was within Kailen’s expectation.
Little did he know that it would be causing an uproar very soon.

In one of the rooms of the current building where Kailen was taking the test, a man was currently brushing his hands through his hair in a very frustrated manner.
He had just ended a voice call with one of the higher ups of the Runesmith Association of the Astral Empire.
" Where the hell am I supposed to find a runesmith prodigy with a rune skill proficiency of 88%. That genius from the Tian Xu Empire is really gonna outshine us this time during the Interempire Secondary Carrier Conference " he sighed in a crestfallen yet angry tone, clearly displeased at something. He added, slamming his hand on the table, " To hell with losing my job if I don’t find someone who can help us win the runesmith competition this time.
For the alchemical competition, they are probably planning on choosing Kailen Darkhaven, that monstrous kid causing commotion everyday in the Astral Empire Academy. If only the Runesmith Association has someone like that!? "
Just then, a feminine figure with a nice figure entered the room, panting.
" S-ir " she said as she hurriedly approached him before he could even berate her on disrespectfully barging into his office, then caused a hologram to be displayed before him " You have to see this!" She said excitedly .
The man curiously stared at the screen.
A young man in a hoodie, who’s face was obscured behind the hoodie, could be seen participating in a rank 0 runesmith exams.
Very soon, the man revealed a very shocked expression on his face, eyes glued to the video.
" His skill " he commented. " His demeanor, it’s as if he has been doing this for an extremely long period of time. Watching him makes me feel like I’m watching those veterans. How can a rank 0 runesmith be this skilled? It’s been barely a few seconds from the start to the end of his exam right? But how?
The fact that he’s taking the entrance exams now means he’s new to runesmithery, not even a veteran runesmith to have some level of finesse. "
He sighed deeply. What he had seen was just too mesmerizing, yet incredulous at the same time.
" Who is he, and what was his score? " the man asked, eager, as if he had found the answer to keeping his job.
The woman showed him the name, and the score...
