Chapter 333. Slowpoke

Chapter 333: Chapter 333. Slowpoke

Everlong and Ashton would have opted for a café to discuss what happened between them. Right now, being alone with each other in an enclosed space was the last thing any of them wanted. It simply felt too awkward.

However, they didn’t have any other choice. They were both famous on campus already, and the topic they were about to discuss was quite sensitive. Who knew who was listening in on them? Yes, there was always the option of making use of rune artifacts that could prevent others from eavesdropping on their conversation, but still, they didn’t want to take the risk.

This was why they had decided to have their discussion in Esimo’s apartment. Currently, the duo were both seated in the hall of Esimo’s apartment. The atmosphere was extremely awkward at the moment.

Esimo broke the silence.

"I’ve always had feelings for you," he spoke with utmost sincerity as he stared softly into Everlong’s eyes.

Everlong wondered whether Esimo had always been this sweet.

Interrupting her thoughts, Esimo continued.

"It’s not like we are the first titan and elf to do what we did. Ahem, anyway, you remember that girl you set me up on a date with way back? The one I was so socially awkward with that I bailed on at the restaurant some time ago before we enrolled in the academy?"

Everlong nodded. "Yeah?"

Esimo replied, "Right. The truth was, inasmuch as I can be socially awkward, the main reason why the date was ruined was because you were all I could think about during the date."

Everlong’s eyes widened in surprise. Her gaze softened, and her voice grew more affectionate. "Why didn’t you tell me you had feelings for me?"

Esimo sighed. "Silly. Of course it was because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. What if you had rejected me?

Everlong said softly " To be honest, I felt the same way about you. It’s just, I didn’t want to admit it."

Esimo sighed in relief. For a second, he was thinking that Everlong would label their romantic occurrence—the kiss between them some hours ago—as some sort of mistake.

"Our racial differences do not bother you?" he asked.

"Screw that." Seeing that Esimo chuckled at her words, she added, "It’s not like our parents would be prejudiced against it, right? Also, we are not the first elf and titan to be in a relationship, right? Concerning the area of intimacy, there are elixirs that can enhance the elasticity of the place~ to accommodate you~. The small problem is you’ll either have to be sitting or you will have to carry me before we can kiss, but I can make do with that."

Esimo chuckled. "Don’t forget that titans can adjust our body size to be normal like that of elves and humans. We mostly prefer our titan builds wherever we go because of our pride."

Everlong rolled her eyes. "You titans just want to show off your towering frames. That’s all there is to it."

Esimo chuckled. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Anyway, the point I’m trying to make here is that you don’t have to worry about taking any elixirs, you know, to make the place (cough) elastic and all that."

Ignoring Everlong’s chuckle at his shyness during the latter part of his statement, he proceeded, "Yeah, and also there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to the extreme height difference during... you know (cough)."

Everlong was staring at him with puzzlement—not because of what he had said. In fact, she perfectly understood him, but why was he being so shy about the area of sexual intimacy? It’s not like they were strangers to each other, right? They literally knew everything about each other from childhood till now, coupled with the fact that they were two adults who had just confirmed they were in a relationship. Why was he being all rigid and shy?

Everlong sighed. Looks like she had to take a step. This man of hers was just too much of a slowpoke.

"Adjust your figure to a normal humanoid one."

Esimo simply nodded. A moment later, he was just two meters tall. However, his frame was quite well-built.

Quickly, Everlong’s figure flickered. The next thing he saw was Everlong’s back currently lying on his chest in the plush armchair he was sitting in. His gaze when he looked at Everlong was one of genuine satisfaction and affection. It was as if he had finally found everything he wanted in this life.

Everlong blushed deeply and melted in his affectionate gaze.

"Everlong," Esimo said.

"Mmm," Everlong replied softly.

"When did you become so bold? A few days ago, I had been friendzoned, but now, you don’t even ask for permission before you just hop on my lap," Esimo said playfully.

"You! Do you want me to break up with you?" Her words betrayed the crimson shade on her cheeks and the gleeful expression on her face. She chuckled bashfully.

The duo cuddled for a few moments before Everlong asked him,

"So why did you keep asking me whether or not I had feelings for Kailen? Was it because you were scared I would fall for someone else?"

Esimo sighed. "Was it that obvious?"

Everlong replied casually, "Not really. You did well to hide your feelings for me. It’s just dawning on me now that we are an item."

Esimo also asked her, "Why would you set me up with someone on a blind date when you have feelings for me too?"

Everlong remained silent for a moment at his question before she answered, "I guess I was not willing to be honest with you about how I really felt about you, so I wanted to push onto someone else? Plus, you and I have been friends for decades. I was scared to lose you if you didn’t feel the same way about me. So anytime the thought of feeling something for you crossed my mind, I just denied it. What if I made a move, we got together, then broke up, and our friendship became fragile? Or what if you bounced me if I made a move on you and you said no?"

Esimo nodded in understanding. Since he had hesitated to ask her out for the same reasons, he empathized with her.

However, he could not help but chuckle at her last statement.

"What’s funny?" Everlong asked.

"Well, I just found something you said funny," Esimo said.

"What?" Everlong inquired humorously, turning to face him, a face only an inch from his.

"What kind of man in their right mind would reject a proposal from you?"

Everlong chuckled.

Completely enamored by his words, she was about to begin some "activities" with him when their holographic screens flickered before them with a notification that interrupted them.

"It seems he really took care of Vesper Locke."

"Right. He did. Now where were we?"

"Let’s turn off the lights first."

"Right."

It seems the hormones at work made them forget about what an insane feat—Kailen killing Vesper Locke—was.
