Chapter 32 Legendary Teammates

Chapter 24 Teaming Up

When the three of them pushed open the door to Rebirth Purple Crystal's office and walked in, the entire room turned to stare in surprise. The question on everyone’s mind was obvious: how did these three get together?

There were no barriers among the girls. Luoluo and June Rain quickly plunged into the crowd, greeting everyone with beaming smiles. Gu Fei, however, clearly felt like an independent entity here. Only July came up to him specifically and greeted him with, "You're here!"

Gu Fei nodded. A very important reason for him coming along with Luoluo and June Rain was that after Luoluo said "Little Qi sent a message," he himself quickly received a text message from July.

Without that text message, no matter how much June Rain bluffed, Gu Fei wouldn't have bothered coming.

A room full of girls was quite a sight. Gu Fei reckoned that unless he accidentally wandered into a women's bathhouse, he would never have another chance in his life to be alone in a room with so many girls.

The situation was, frankly, quite awkward. Gu Fei even regretted coming a little. He sheepishly slipped to a spot by the window and sat down, casually gazing outside.

Over there, July looked around the room and clapped her hands. "Everyone who's online is here, it's really not easy to gather so many people at once."

"Sister Xiao Qi, what mission did we get?" an excited voice said. Gu Fei didn't even need to look to know it was June Rain. Now that he knew she was a girl, her voice sounded quite feminine. Why hadn't he noticed before?

"Uh, it's not a very difficult mission. But it's our guild's first one, after all," July replied.

Missions in Parallel World weren't tiered by level like in some online games, nor were their difficulty levels explicitly marked. Once you accepted a mission, you only found out how difficult it was and whether you could complete it by actually doing it. This required players to explore on their own. Fortunately, this was the information age. Whenever a mission was explored, someone would upload their research results to online forums. So the current trend was to first search the mission forums for relevant information before tackling any unfamiliar mission.

After July received this guild mission, she had already checked the online resources. Seeing that many newly established 20-person guilds had been able to complete it, July believed that Rebirth Purple Crystal wouldn't have any major problems either.

And while June Rain was a mission fanatic, she mostly knew about solo missions. She hadn't paid much attention to guild missions, which were group activities. After hearing July mention the mission name, she continued to ask all sorts of questions.

Mission: Recover the stolen treasure chest.

An extremely cliché mission plot: the treasure chest was lost, now it's been discovered, go and get it back.

July pulled out a map she had prepared in advance and spread it on the table. She began to explain to everyone, "I checked online, and the treasure chest is likely to be in these seven places." July pointed to the seven locations she had marked on the map.

"These seven places are quite far apart," Luoluo said.

July nodded. "The online advice is to first split up to find the exact location of the treasure chest, and then work together as a team. That's what I think too. The smallest team that completed this mission had six people. Right now, we have..." July turned around to confirm the number of people. "We have 14 people, I believe there won't be any major problems."

Gu Fei didn't come over to look at the map, he just sat where he was listening to July speak. When he heard her say that six people could complete it, he was about to blurt out "I'll take off then!", but he heard July continue, "14 people, we'll make seven teams of two, to search all seven locations."

The girls nodded, and Gu Fei swallowed his words back down.

"Now, let's split into groups." As soon as July said this, everyone's eyes involuntarily fell on Gu Fei. Frankly speaking, the female players didn't have any prejudice against male players, but they had decided to form a girls' guild, and suddenly a man had squeezed in, which was a bit of an eyesore. As of this moment, Gu Fei was still a stranger to them. Since they were about to team up, no one would be willing to team up with a stranger. This was only natural.

How could July not understand everyone's thoughts? But this little matter wasn't worth dragging out, so she simply pointed at Gu Fei and said, "Qian Li, who do you want to team up with?"

When Gu Fei heard that they were going to form groups, he guessed that he would be kicked around like a ball. He was maliciously speculating about who would be so unlucky as to be in his group, but he didn't expect July to take care of him like this, actually giving him a 13-to-1 choice.

Gu Fei glanced around, and finally stopped at June Rain. He smiled and said, "I'll team up with Little Rain!"

"Why? Why do you want to team up with me?" June Rain exclaimed.

"We're bros!" Gu Fei said with a smile.

June Rain was speechless for a moment, and the other girls all looked blank. Only Luoluo smiled softly to the side, burrowed into the crowd of girls and whispered for a while, and a burst of laughter erupted.

"Okay, then you two will be a group, and go to this place." July pointed to a random spot on the map.

Gu Fei had already opened the door at this point, and June Rain had no choice but to reluctantly set off with Gu Fei.

The others quickly and efficiently formed their groups. In the blink of an eye, the six teams left the guild and headed toward their respective goals. The seven locations were distributed in seven different directions around Cloudrise City. It was fortunate that the mission was issued by the system. If it was created by some player, people who accepted the mission would probably have to beat that guy to death first. How was this intelligence work done? They actually found seven such disparate locations.

Because she was doing a mission, June Rain was full of energy. As soon as she left the guild, she strode ahead without looking back. Gu Fei was a little fired up by her bold momentum, and he followed behind her with a powerful aura. Unfortunately, Gu Fei's attire couldn't muster any momentum at all. As soon as June Rain went out, she changed into her equipment while walking. Her whole body was covered in heavy armor except for her little face, and the giant axe she carried on her shoulder made people feel a sense of weight and oppression at first glance.

What about Gu Fei? The mage's novice robe he wore fluttered in the wind, which was somewhat unrestrained, but judging from a professional online gaming perspective, such poor equipment was likely to be blown off by the wind and turn into streaking.

As the two were walking, they suddenly heard someone calling from behind, calling Gu Fei's name.

Turning around, they saw July leading a girl that Gu Fei didn't recognize, chasing after them.

The two stopped, and when July reached them, she took something out of her pocket and handed it to Gu Fei. "Here, take this!"

Gu Fei took it and looked at it. It was a staff. +8 Intelligence, +3 Spirit, 20% increase to fire spells. It was a decent little gem. But Gu Fei said something nonsensical, "The attack is so low!"

"Low?" July took it back and looked at it, very puzzled.

The two had no common language, because only Gu Fei would pay attention to a staff's physical attack. That was just a symbolic notation of the minimum and maximum numbers. Even the most extreme staff's physical attack probably couldn't compare to Gu Fei's broken white board sword. When looking at a staff, you look at the magic attack. This staff wasn't low, it was already top-notch on the current market.

"What about the one you're using? Let me see it," July wanted to see what kind of awesome staff Gu Fei was using. It would be one thing to say that the additional attributes of this staff weren't that great, but he actually complained that its attack was low.

"Mine is broken," Gu Fei said. He was talking about his sword, and the two's communication had absolutely no intersection.

"Then take this one and use it for now!" July stuffed it back to him.

"Okay!" Gu Fei took it, looking reluctant. July was amused. Even if this one was really not as good as the one he used to use, it was still a gem, did he have to look so wronged? After using Appraisal on Gu Fei, she found that this level 30 mage's equipment was really garbage. That's why she took a staff and gave it to him, who would have thought that he wouldn't even say "thank you" in the end.

"Alright, hurry up and get moving!" July waved at Gu Fei and June Rain, and walked in another direction with the girl.

Gu Fei and June Rain also continued forward. A heavy-armored warrior in front, carrying a giant axe on his shoulder, and a novice-robed mage behind, carrying a staff on his shoulder. The two of them swaggered through the streets, all the way out of Cloudrise City. June Rain stopped and turned to ask Gu Fei, "Which way to go?"

Gu Fei collapsed. He suddenly felt that his choice to team up with her was a very serious mistake. It was too late to regret it now, so he could only ask helplessly, "Weren't you the one looking at the map?"

"Nonsense, who would look at that crap?" June Rain said with a straight face.

"I can't read it either!" Gu Fei didn't say that he didn't look at it at all.

June Rain found a kindred spirit. "What do we do then?"

"Ask..." Gu Fei was really out of patience. He pulled out his friend list and sent a message to July.

July quickly replied, pointing out the direction they should go.

"Let's go!" Gu Fei said, and this time it was his turn to walk in front, with June Rain following behind.

The place that July pointed out for the two of them to go was called Cloudrise Lakeside. Cloudrise referred to Cloudrise City. The name of this lake was Cloudrise Lake, meaning a lake in the suburbs of Cloudrise City, very simple and honest.

Gu Fei knew where this lake was, but the problem was that from the beginning, June Rain had led the way to the wrong city gate. The two of them now had to make a big circle to reach the designated destination.

Gu Fei sighed deeply. He remembered a saying: "It's not the god-like opponents you should fear, but the pig-like teammates."

He felt that he had very likely encountered the legendary pig-like teammate. This trip was doomed.
