Chapter 62 Entering the Haunted House

Li Jiayi perfectly demonstrated that as long as he wasn't embarrassed, no one else would be. He retracted his hand nonchalantly.

"So then..." Li Jiayi said, "Let's go!"

Bai Ye nodded and walked out of the restaurant, heading forward.

The surroundings were quiet, with only the whistling sound of the night wind. However, Bai Ye did not let his guard down, as the Lord of Yellow Clothes could appear at any moment.

Li Jiayi said beside him, "Don't worry, I'm here."

Bai Ye glanced at Li Jiayi and casually asked, "Someone from the supernatural world?"

Li Jiayi replied, "What makes you say that?"

Bai Ye pointed behind him, "The phone."

"It is indeed supernatural. I can use my mind to enter electronic communication devices, and this is the initial form. As my abilities improve, it can evolve into electronic intrusion capabilities. I can invade any electronic device with my mind," Li Jiayi spread his hands. "However, as you can see, this ability is completely useless in frontal combat."

Bai Ye suddenly stopped and looked at Li Jiayi. "You are not from the supernatural world."

Li Jiayi was taken aback for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "What makes you say that?"

Bai Ye said, "When faced with a question they don't want to answer, people usually employ three methods: first, lying; second, stammering; third, evading the answer. Which do you think you are?"

Bai Ye hadn't asked what his abilities were!

Bai Ye asked...

Are you from the supernatural world?

Li Jiayi smiled without speaking, then his expression suddenly changed. He pulled Bai Ye away, shouting, "Careful!"

After pulling Bai Ye away, Li Jiayi decisively stood in front of him.

At that very moment...

The ground suddenly cracked open, and a tentacle erupted from beneath the earth.

The Lord of Yellow Clothes had returned!

However, the tentacle did not smash down, because Li Jiayi was blocking Bai Ye. To strike Bai Ye, one would have to strike Li Jiayi first. But according to the game rules of the Death Amusement Park, supervisors were not allowed to attack ghosts!

Mist began to swirl around, and the Lord of Yellow Clothes emerged from the fog. He waved his hand forward, and then new cracks appeared behind Bai Ye. A new tentacle erupted from the ground, attempting to strike Bai Ye from behind.

However, Li Jiayi reacted even faster. He spread his arms, moved to the side, and intercepted tentacles from both sides.

"Run, I'll keep up with you and won't let the supervisor attack you."

Bai Ye nodded and then headed towards the haunted house. However, Bai Ye deliberately slowed his pace, knowing that if he ran at full speed, Li Jiayi might not be able to keep up.

The two moved forward, and Li Jiayi's task was simple: to constantly circle around Bai Ye.

Although the Lord of Yellow Clothes continuously summoned tentacles, it was unable to complete an attack. Li Jiayi positioned himself perfectly, always within the range of attack.

Of course, there were other ways, but it was debatable whether spiritual entities like the Lord of Yellow Clothes were intelligent beings. They would not adapt, and under the rules, they would only attack according to the rules, never violating them.

Therefore, facing such a situation, they could only be hesitant to act.

Li Jiayi smiled at Bai Ye. "How about that? I said I would definitely escort you to the haunted house."

Bai Ye shrugged his shoulders. "Turn left ahead!"

Li Jiayi nodded and followed Bai Ye.

Having a "ghost" escort was indeed much easier than Bai Ye forcing his way through alone. Although the Lord of Yellow Clothes kept following them, it never got an opportunity to attack. Even if the tentacles occasionally managed to bypass Li Jiayi and hit Bai Ye, as long as they couldn't form a continuous attack, Bai Ye could easily handle them.

Soon, a burnt-out haunted house appeared before them. A charred, giant ghost head decoration lay on the ground, looking quite ferocious.

Li Jiayi and Bai Ye stepped into it one after another. Once inside the building, the Lord of Yellow Clothes voluntarily retreated, quickly disappearing into the gray mist.

On the other side, after the two entered the haunted house, Li Jiayi took out a flashlight and illuminated the surroundings.

What greeted their eyes was a hall with two doors on each side. One side was marked "Entrance," and the other was marked "Exit." Although the writing was blurry, some of it could still be discerned. At the edge of the entrance, there was a small counter where visitors were given lighting equipment. Inside, a skeleton lay slumped over, surrounded by spilled bloodstains that had begun to darken.

Bai Ye did not linger and gestured towards the entrance with his chin. "Go!"

"Aren't we going to search this place?" Li Jiayi handed a flashlight to Bai Ye. "Perhaps we'll find something?"

"Then you can search outside," Bai Ye said with a playful smile. "I'll search inside."

As Bai Ye spoke, he turned on his flashlight, gripped it in his left hand, and raised the Dragon's Roar, resting it on the back of his left hand. He then kicked open the door marked "Entrance."

Li Jiayi said no more and followed Bai Ye. "Are you a soldier?"

Bai Ye looked at Li Jiayi.

Li Jiayi continued, "That's a standard grip used by urban counter-terrorism units. The barrel is level with your shoulder, and you hold the flashlight in reverse, supporting the gun body. This allows you to illuminate normally while ensuring you can fire immediately if there's danger."

Bai Ye curled his lips. "Just consider me... Careful..."

Before Bai Ye could finish his sentence, he suddenly kicked Li Jiayi, sending him tumbling to the side.

The moment Li Jiayi fell to the ground, Bai Ye decisively fired!

Bang!

With the sound of the gunshot, five energy beams shot forward.

As Bai Ye turned, a hidden trapdoor in the corridor sprang open. Standing on the trapdoor was a fierce ghost with a green face and fangs.

However, the ghost didn't even have time to make a sound. It merely raised its hand when the five beams from the Dragon's Roar reached it.

With a loud bang, the ghost's chest exploded. Bai Ye's shot almost split its body in two, and it fell backward stiffly.

After dispatching the ghost, Bai Ye looked at Li Jiayi. "Be careful. In this cursed place, if you're not paying attention, your head might just get taken by a ghost."

Li Jiayi looked at the corpse on the ground with lingering fear. Seeing Bai Ye turn and move forward, he quickly followed.

"Do you have any clues about the haunted house murder case from back then?" Li Jiayi asked. "I think we can start by investigating personnel records, meaning, starting with the employees of the haunted house at the time."
