Chapter 1358: Chapter 1358: Human or Ghost (2)
Little Pudding yawned, his sleepy eyes barely open: “Daddy’s storytelling isn’t lively at all.”
Ye Qilan chuckled, gently stroked Little Pudding’s hair, and continued reading the fairy tale to him.
Afterward, he spent another half hour coaxing Little Pudding to sleep.
Turning around, he caught Su Hongxing suppressing a smile. He tucked the blanket over Little Pudding and walked up to Su Hongxing, whispering, “This kid is so demanding. It must’ve been hard for you before.”
“She’s quite obedient, and doesn’t act up often. It’s getting late; you should get some rest,” Su Hongxing said as she prepared to climb into bed.
Ye Qilan looked at her, a bit crestfallen: “Won’t you even give me a goodnight kiss?”
“I’m really tired. Close the door when you leave,” Su Hongxing replied, turning her back to Ye Qilan as she lay down.
Ye Qilan stared at her back for a while, sighed helplessly, and said, “Honey, you’re making me so sad.”
Saying this, he closed the door behind him.
Only when the sound of the door closing echoed did Su Hongxing turn her head. She had been preoccupied with Little Pudding’s resistance to school, leaving her no time to think about that strange email.
Now that it was quiet, she couldn’t avoid considering the possibility: What would she do if the other Ye Qilan was still alive?
The matters between Ye Qilan and her were only known to a few people involved, plus one other person—Qiao Qiao.
Qiao Qiao was unlikely to spread the story everywhere, so the person who sent her the email was most likely Ye Qilan. Otherwise, how could that strange email be explained?
Whether it was the gift of apricot flowers or today’s email, only Ye Qilan could know about those details. Aside from him, she couldn’t think of anyone else.
She had never imagined that one day she’d be faced with such a thorny problem. What should she do now?
Su Hongxing couldn’t sleep, and Ye Qilan couldn’t sleep either. He felt that Su Hongxing had been particularly cold to him tonight, barely even looking at him.
Even though she’d never been especially warm toward him before, that was due to her reserved personality. But tonight, after arriving home, Su Hongxing hardly said anything to him.
This woman was acting very strangely—did something happen that he wasn’t aware of?
Thinking of this, he jumped up and called Xiaohe: “Xiaohe, find someone to search Su Hongxing’s office desk… Also, check her computer thoroughly. Oh, and the computer—investigate her emails today, get an expert to look into this.”
He had completely overlooked something—how advanced the internet was now. If the sender couldn’t approach her with flowers, they might simply use another method to connect with Su Hongxing. Emails were a convenient alternative.
Ye Qilan remained restless, awaiting feedback from Xiaohe. Just as his impatience escalated, Xiaohe called back, claiming to have found something, and sent an email to his phone.
Reading the email’s content, his expression darkened.
Could the other Ye Qilan still be alive? That was impossible! He didn’t believe it—someone must be manipulating things behind the scenes!
No wonder Su Hongxing was so indifferent toward him. Could it be that she believed the other Ye Qilan was still alive and wanted to throw herself into his arms?
Ye Qilan paced back and forth in the room, somewhat frantic. He immediately called Xiaohe again and asked, “Can you trace the origin of the email?”
“I only found out it was sent from an internet café, but as for the source, we haven’t traced that yet.”
“If you can’t trace it, then forget it. No need to waste effort. Since he’s so eager to see Su Hongxing, he’ll have to show up eventually. I want to see whether this person is human or a ghost!”
